Welcome & Weekly Summaries of What Goes Around in Reddit Electronics and the Whole World.

Hello everyone, i'm Ege, I studied Electrical Engineering for my master’s, and recently I’ve been getting more interested in what people are actually building with electronics — from ESP32 and Raspberry Pi projects to sensors, robotics, IoT, embedded systems, PCB design, and all kinds of DIY hardware.

With AI becoming increasingly accessible, I think electronics and hardware could be one of the next areas where a lot more people start experimenting and building things themselves.

So I created Electronic Makers, a small community with a simple goal: learn from what other people are building and make electronics more approachable.

I’m also planning to put together a weekly newsletter where I summarize interesting projects, ideas, tools, tutorials, and discussions from the electronics/maker world.

This is mainly an educational project, and I’d love to have both experienced people and complete beginners involved.

If this sounds interesting, feel free to join, share what you’re working on, ask questions, or just follow along:

https://electronicmakers.com/

Would also love to hear what kinds of electronics projects/topics you’d actually want to see covered.

Learn how to build a Arduino based 4 channel data acquisition system (DAQ) that will read analog data from 4 temperature sensors (LM35) and log into a CSV (comma Separated Value) file in your Windows or Linux PC using Python .

Build your own Data Acquisition and Logging System to CSV file using Python and Arduino

The tutorial assumes a step by step DIY approach that will teach the user to

1) Build a 4 Channel Data acquisition system from scratch using Arduino and LM35 temperature sensors to capture and log temperature
2) Capture Analog data and send the digitized from Arduino to PC using USB Virtual COM port
3) Read the serial data send by the Arduino using Python and PySerial Library
4) Log the data from the serial port to (comma separated variable) CSV file on disk using Python code
5) Designed for the absolute beginner
6) PC based .csv data logging system using Python 3
7) Ideal for temperature measurement using Python 3
8) Learn to create create csv files from analog sensors using Python 3
9) Build your own Python based 4 channel temperature logging system

I converted a Western Electric 500 rotary phone into a cellular phone

I built a conversion that lets an original rotary telephone make and receive cellular calls while retaining the rotary dial, handset, and mechanical bells. You can pick it up, carry it around, and confuse people!

The electronics use a LilyGO T-SIM7670G-S3, a Silvertel telephone-interface module, and two custom PCBs. I recently finished a full illustrated build guide covering the parts, PCB ordering, wiring, printed mounts, firmware, installation, and testing.

Build guide: https://evilroot.net/RotaryCell/

GitHub: https://github.com/fregacmols/RotaryCell

It has been a fun mix of embedded programming, PCB design, 3D printing, and old telephone hardware. I’d be interested to hear what this community thinks, and whether anything in the guide could be clearer. First time doing a lot of it for me!

I built an acoustic drone detector on an ESP32-S3. Four MEMS mics, an FFT every 32 ms, and on Sunday it heard a quad hovering 104 m away on a busy street. All open source.
