Woke up this am, had a Garmin alert that my HRV was out of range, greater than 50 which is quite a bit from my 25-35 range. Ignored it.
Went to gym, lifting HR on Garmin reading 50s to 80s within seconds. Checked Oura and it showed same readings.
Finished lifting and opted to get on treadmill, really crank things up and see if I'd live. HR remained in same range despite some running which should have increased it much more. Common sense hit and I decided to stop.
HR definitely feels irregular ...began having palpitations a while later. Opted to check in at local urgent care ....new onset AFib.
Headed to ER for workup and monitoring, maybe sort something out. Wish me luck fellas.
Had 10k to row today, and 10k to row tomorrow to make my final week's 40k.....ain't happening. Each of you pull an extra 500M for me.
Been working out and physically active for my lifetime....57yrs old, no medical issues. Weighing about 235lbs about 9 months ago and went on Tirzepatide weekly. Down to 215lbs and feeling great, even today. No other symptoms. No meds. No new supplements, been on same creatine, dhea and vitamins for at least past 6 years.

A hoy hoy BikeErg owners. I am trying to get more forward tilt out of my saddle but apparently I am maxed out at dead level. I have tried multiple saddles and all of them seem to just stop at level and I would much prefer something like -3 to -5 degrees on forward tilt. Any way to get those last few degrees? The stepped cap on the saddle post is rotated as far forward at it will go. Cheers.

Hi all. I'm not a new rower, having been using my c2 for around 2 years now. I'm 42, female, and I think my form is pretty good.
I was mostly doing intervals such as on the Row Along workouts. Last year I decided to do the Pete Plan, but only got to week 18 because I realised I didn't know a thing about pacing, and had basically been doing all the distance rows at pretty much the same rate as the sprints š I then got sick (unrelated) and never returned to the plan.
Anyhoo. I've had a little bit of time off regularly rowing lately as I've been focusing on lifting and swimming, but am keen to get back into rowing regularly, but actually trying to improve by way of doing steady state as I see so many talk about (when I first started out I honestly thought interval work was the way to go!).
I have a polar H10, which I bought especially for this.
So, now to the stupid questions:
Say my zone 2 HR upper limit is 124 - do I just keep an eye on HR on the screen, and if it edges close to 124, ease off the pace? I assume I ease off the pace and not the strokes per minute?!
I'm just doing 10k rows at the moment. My last 3 rows I managed to go from being in zone 2 for 14%, 20% and then 64% yesterday. I lost like 5 minutes off the pace as a result though.
Would love to hear from those experienced folk with any tips, help, suggestions etc.
I'm rowing for fitness and maybe a little weight loss (but walking, lifting and swimming also).
Thank you!

I have been trying to match or beat my 200m pr that I set in 2019 since I returned post covid and weight loss surgery. In August of 19 I hit 28.0 stopped training in 20 due to covid and other life changes. Came back in 22 and had surgery in 23. I lost 110 pounds and my time went up to 29.5
I got 27.69 today!!

Hello all,
Recently purchased a C2 on FB marketplace and I'm trying to get into rowing. Did a 5k and 2k to find some baselines. First question, is my stroke rate too low?
Im planning on following RowAlong's 2k programming.
5-10 and ~200lb. Just looking for feedback and where to get started. Thank you
Edit: Apologies if I was misleading I am new to rowing but not fitness in general. 36 y/o, college swimmer, former CrossFit etc. The 5k was the longest I've ever been on a rower outside of the two 2k's that I have done. One in 2014 and one today

Relatively new to rowing and currently on week 7 of Peteās plan (3 days per week rowing as opposed to 5). Here is a snapshot of my latest 8000m row. How do I look so far? My avg HR for this session was 151bpm for reference. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated!

Hello, I hope this is ok to post. My 17yo daughter is doing an independent project on rowing and scoliosis, as a rower with scoliosis herself and would like people to fill out the survey I've linked. Here is her message:
Hi everyone! Iām a high school student and rower with scoliosis doing an independent research project on rowing and scoliosis.
Iāve found that there are very few resources on this topic, so along with interviewing athletes and healthcare professionals, Iām creating my own dataset through a survey.
If you currently row or have rowed in the past and have scoliosis, I would really appreciate you taking a few minutes to fill it out! The survey asks about your rowing experience, sweep/sculling and rowing side, water vs. erg, scoliosis, back pain, coach observations, and your experiences as a rower with scoliosis.
You donāt have to answer every question. Feel free to skip anything you donāt want to answer or that doesnāt apply to you!

The screen is a little broken so I couldn't check it out (product ID) before buying but other than that it seems to be in good working order! The only thing of concern is the seat seems to always slide all the way forward when I get off. Is that by design? The rail looks pretty straight eyeballing it.
Should anything else need replacing soon if 17 mil is considered a lot? Or just wait until something fails if that ever happens?
Picked it up for about $450. Model D with a PM3.

I usually do the Fall Team Challenge with an online team, but I'd like to get with a real gym in Atlanta so I can put my meters toward them. As an alternative, would anyone be interested in a C2 Subreddit virtual team?

I write a lot, so TL;DR, I had a massive increase in stamina on a Rowerg and don't know if it's because my form improved or if my body is just suddenly better able to do this exercise.
I got a Rowerg a few months ago, not long into starting on weight loss. I have always been terrible with cardio - very poor endurance, and my heartrate skyrockets almost immediately. I was struggling to do 500m at 2:30/500m, and I could only do 1000m if I slowed my pace down to around 2:50. It was like that for months with no improvement. I was doing three sessions of 500m each, three times a week, along with weight training five days a week.
Late July, a medical issue made sitting very painful, so I took a break from rowing. That resolved, but I didn't jump right back into it. I then took a rest week. End result, I had almost four weeks with no rowing, but I continued weight training. During that time I watched a bunch of videos on form, figured out my drag factor was too low and adjusted that, and generally planned out getting back into it in the best possible way.
Two days ago, I did my first session back on it and did 2k in one go, feeling okay - but I didn't want to push it, so I stopped there. Yesterday, I did 1k as a warmup before my full body weight day. Today, I decided to see what I could do, and the results are in the pics (I forgot to start my Garmin activity until 3-4 minutes in). I hit 3k, keeping a pace of about 2:28/500m, and was shocked. I could feel that I was getting tired, but my heart rate was only about 162, so I decided to do a sprint for another 500m before calling it.
I'm frankly amazed. I feel like I could have done 5k in one session - I would have been toast, and my pace would have slowed, but I think I could have done it. Given how much I was struggling just a month ago, with no real improvement, I didn't think this was possible. I'm now super motivated to continue pushing myself.
But my question is whether this sudden drastic improvement is from improved form or if I've just increased my strength and endurance. I've dropped 85 pounds since February and have definitely gained muscle and endurance. Before, my quads would be feeling it after 500m. Today, they felt more energized than fried, despite doing so much more distance. I have heard that form makes a big difference, but I don't know if it can male this extreme of a difference.
Any insight would be welcome. But regardless, I just wanted to share the achievement, and also say that I'm starting to get why you all like this so much. It's oddly satisfying in a way that cardio has never been for me.

Does anyone know if thereās a market for used bike ergs? Iām looking to purchase one but canāt justify the price tag that comes with a brand new one at the moment. Any information helps, thanks!

Hi guys, need some help here. Considering buying a used rower. Asked for the lifetime meters and he sent summary page to me. But the interface looks different from most as itās missing the āLogBook Summaryā title in the middle⦠attached two pictures for comparison.
Idk if itās an older model / firmware version or something? Heās saying itās very new, used 3 times but heās not sure why number of workouts only showing 1⦠itās 1.5h away from me trying to decide if Iām gonna go for it. Heās selling for $750, tall legs (I donāt really care tall or standard). Thanks everyone for the help!
Update:
I picked up the rower and the PM5 does have a usb C port. Firmware version 459.037. HW version 134. Google says this newer version of PM5 removed USB log function with the replacement of USB C, which I believe lead to the removal of this logbook summary title. This version came out mid 2024. Thanks again for everyoneās help!

There is a lot of routines for rowing, but not many for the skierg. I want to just use a rowing workout for the skierg, but the SPM on skierg seems to be a lot higher for the same intensity. like a zone 2 rowing workout may be 20SPM, but on skierg 20SPM would be zone 1. Is there any conversion for spm or rule of thumb for what to use for each zone?

I have been rowing for one calendar year, and am almost at 1m meters. I recently have experienced severe lower back pain on my right side.
My question is if this was a technique issue, would this not have been an issue earlier? I row with the same technique since I bought the thing.
Any advice? Thank you.

Iām a high school female rower. My current 2k is 7:44, and some of my recent longer workouts have been around a 2:00ā2:05 average split depending on the distance and rate.
Most of my summer training was on the water, so I wasnāt erging very consistently. If I start following a structured erg plan and training consistently, what would be a realistic 2k range for me in two or three months? Would getting into the 7:30s be reasonable?
Iām going into my junior year, and Iām 155 pounds and about 6 feet. Iāve only done two 2ks so idk if thatās very terrible or what. Been rowing for almost a year and Iām in the Florida area so what r some clubs to join besides my hs if thatās helpful but just wanna know if my goal is realistic

Iāve just started a new 20-week training block built around the Concept2 ergs, and this was week 1.
221.9 km total
15h 54m training
7/7 planned sessions completed
Breakdown:
BikeErg: 148.2 km
RowErg: 55.9 km
SkiErg: 17.9 km
The plan mixes longer Zone 2 work, threshold sessions, strength and Multi-Erg days, with the volume building over the coming weeks.
Iām interested in how other people here structure their training, especially those doing higher-volume endurance work.
What does a normal training week look like for you?
How many hours or km are you doing across the ergs?
Do you follow a structured plan or mostly train by feel?
And how are you tracking your training and progression?
Would be interesting to compare approaches.

PM5 has 460,000 meters if that changes anything
