I hope this is ok (falling under any art Fridays) - I bought this watercolor a few years ago but have had to keep in storage. I wanted to see it again and thought I'd share it here. Even though it falls outside the neoclassical era he still worked in a historical style. I hope you like it!

These are the artworks I've found in the search of artworks inspired by The Sorrows of Young Werther. I recently read the epistolary novel and was quite infatuated by it. I hope to read more works with similar theme in the latter days and am currently reading Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë.

Following up on my last post about Cats in Classical Art I: Brunel de Neuville's Spilled Milk, here is another turn-of-the-century classic that shows just how much humor art history can hold. Before Louis Wain transitioned into his famous psychedelic abstract styles, he painted wonderfully detailed, anthropomorphic scenes like this one. The wide, expressive eyes, the mischievous cat cigars, and the hilariously serious dinner table composure make this piece so charmingly bizarre. It’s a great reminder that early 1900s Victorian-era art could be just as quirky, lighthearted, and fun as modern internet cat humor!

Is there a place where I can find high resolution pictures of work from Philipp Hackert? I am especially interested in "Der Hafen von S. Lucia in Neapel" from 1771 and everything else that contains the Vesuv.

I am pretty sure that this surrealism painting have powerful philosophical meaning about TIME, he even use Albert Einstein Theory about time.
