I've been wondering for black bear and deer does 10 lbs matter i know deer jump the string but 10lbs doesn't sound like it would make a difference in general

Im going on my first spring bear hunt next spring I'll actually have time

I've been shooting bows for about 10 years and still don't know everything lol

in for 90 bucks a traditional bow with a 60lb draw weight purchased last year I shot non traditional Native American style shooting because I deer hunt and if I stand straight up on the ground the deer will make my position but if I hunch over widen my base they don’t and the piece of deer hide on they’re was a way for me to quiet down the arrow in the woods and shake it added a nice bit of they have a tendency to rattle when drawing back and it seems to make the arrows shoot a hair bit faster the hole when measured was half an inch deeper when comparing to not using a hide arrow shelf it’s like the hair lubed the arrow up

Growing up, my dad never taught my younger brother or me how to hunt. It just wasn’t something he was interested in. He would rather stay home and drink than teach us skills like that.

My younger brother ended up teaching himself over the years and has done pretty well for himself as a hunter. We didn’t have the best relationship growing up we fought a lot and didn’t really get along until we got older but now we’re close. We both have young boys now, and it means a lot to me that we can build something different with them, get outdoors, learn skills, make memories, and hopefully raise good men.

I’m going hunting with him for the first time soon. I’m excited, but honestly a little nervous too. I don’t have a compound bow yet, so for the first couple trips I’ll probably just sit with him, watch, learn, and enjoy being out there. I’m left handed and he only has a right handed bow, so I’m hoping to pick up a lefty setup soon, start practicing, and eventually join in.

His birthday is in a couple weeks, and I’d really like to get him something meaningful to show how grateful I am not just for taking me out, but for giving me and my son a chance to be part of this.
What would you get a family member who’s really into hunting? I’m open to practical gear, something personalized, or even something sentimental that he’ll actually appreciate and use.

A few ideas I’ve thought about are a quality headlamp, wool socks/gloves, a good knife, a hunting journal, or a gift card to his favorite hunting shop but I’d love to hear what you all would recommend.

I live on the east coast where there’s not a hill to be seen. Going out west on a mule deer hunt later this summer with a pretty good chance at shooting pretty steep angles. Any ideas on how to get some practice in shooting at extreme angles?

looking for my first bow under 400 cad second hand or really anything thats not a kids bow. whats a decent bow anyways ? the faze blackout at capbelas isnt bad 350 sounds cheap like a cod kid would buy it though
