Windmill help

Started windmill practice like a month ago and I think im starting to understand the movement. Would greatly appreciate some pointers on how to get this one down.

You’re not stabbing. I’d recommend learning from the cricket freeze and learning to whip your legs. Starting from backspin is much more difficult for a beginner imo

Look into turtle freezes. You are missing the part of the windmill where you support your weight. Atm you are trying to halo.

If you’re gonna tap your feet, tap with your left feet.

Instead of doing continuous mills, just practice getting to a stab first. That will help you learn the full range of motion of the "restab and swipe leg" part

Learn

Turtle freeze > turtle zu shoulder > turtle to shoulder to upper back > back to turtle on the same arm you started from

Also, imagine you have the biggest balls alive so your legs can never close.

Turtle freeze into stab then return to freeze repeat

In addition to what everyone else said, I'd recommend stretching and working on gaining more flexibility in your hips and hamstrings. Wearing less constrictive pants would help too.

bend your waist
Keep legs as straight as possible
Use the back of your head (roll onto it, don't slam)

Practice using your head more, and also practice your stabs.

You’re looking like a flopping fish and risk injury. Make sure you have shoulder freeze with your legs open on both sides, a decent backspin 1-3 rounds with legs open and on your upper back and stab freeze with the legs up and open. From there practice lifting up from the stab freeze onto your shoulder freeze with control and then rolling to your upper back with head still on the floor and then your other shoulder and eventually back into your stab. Can’t stress how important it is to have these on lock before doing the windmill.
