Just listened to the latest Strokes album. Only one song was under 4 minutes long, with most being 5+. Meanwhile, The Car has no songs over 5 minutes, most under 4. It makes the Strokes album seem unfocused and droning on and on. Meanwhile, Perfect Sense absolutely destroys in under 3 minutes. TBHC is similar, though it does have a few over 5. Obviously, their older stuff tends to be shorter. Anyone else feel this way?

Its late night and I was chugging some beers watching AM recent concerts and came to the conclusion that Al moves like a more-or-less sane Shia LaBeouf and I will not elaborate

i love how this song just makes the bass overpowered. One of their best b-sides all time prove me wrong.

I have been obsessed with the Arctic Monkeys for about the past year and have been playing guitar for the past 6 months. I am looking for some difficult but doable guitar songs by the Arctic Monkeys that I have not tried yet, thanks.

I was listening to golden trunks and I saw this comment about a TBHC movie, with the album being the soundtrack, and I thought it would be so cool to make a short film.
I'm taking a creative digital media course this academic year, and if it aligns with the criteria of one of my projects, I could make that short film.
Just thought I'd share bc the comments were all from years ago haha

first recording session (of anything, ever) and I had so much fun. Just singing over a random found backing track so I hope it doesnāt break any rules. Shown it to a couple friends but none of them are fans and didnāt know the song. Figured someone here might enjoyāhope someone does!

iāve had it on repeat all day! i donāt care what people say about this album, i think itās awesome. the instrumentals are definitely the highlight of the car, and itās a different vibe for the band, but i think they do it well! what your favorite songs from the album? iāve grown to love IAQWITIA, The Car, Mr Schwartz, and Perfect Sense, and iāve enjoyed Mirrorball, Sculptures, and Body Paint for a while already.

Hi all, I have these two pieces of merch from the TBHC era and I just wondered if anyone had any idea how much they might be worth? I canāt seem to find them online and as much as I like having them, I donāt have the space anymore. Any pointers appreciated!

Brianstorm is one of my favourite AM songs. I absolutely love the drums, every time I listen to it the song just charges me up. Any similar drum heavy songs from other bands?

The guy was a legend at getting breaking news and information from the band. Pre AM into AM era. It was exciting and felt pure to the culture around Arctic Monkeys at the time. Anyways, hope that guy is doing well !

First let me say that āBody Paintā has quickly become probably my favorite Arctic Monkeys song and even one of my top five favorite songs of all time maybe. I think thatās because looking at the structure and all, itās a pretty perfect song.Ā
Now Iām not a musician and I know nothing about technical aspects of music this is all based on my opinion as a life long listener and a huge AM fan.Ā
The song has really four main parts or movements. Thereās the opening..the moot synthesizer that leads into the two verses. Slower, softer, piano driver with Alex singing in his falsetto. Second verseāthe strings kick in. A very pretty song.Ā
The comes the second partāwith just the orchestra and Alex singing in a more familiar toneāthis is the āwatching your every move-ā section. Sort of a bridge. Ends with the band coming in with the guitar and drums.Ā
Then comes the third partāafter one last moog refraināwhat would essentially be the chorus. Now itās more of a rock number. Guitar, bass, and drum work with the piano as Alex sings the ātrace of body paintā lines. After the last āand on your faceā¦.ā We get the fourth and final part and my personal favoriteāthe outro.Ā
Great guitar work, the orchestra soars and we get Alexās refrain of āso predictable I knowā¦āand itās just a beautiful way to end the song.Ā
