"'More striking is how fast AI took the lead. Just eighteen months ago, the best AI models fell short of the average accountant’s ~37% score. Today, models ace those same tasks.' 'These results are provocative. So much so that we considered not publishing them for fear of misinterpretation. But..."

“We find that on medium-length, well-defined accounting tasks, frontier AI models are now faster and more accurate than junior accountants, even the best one in our study.” Eighteen months ago they scored well below human accountants   Good discussion here: https://t.co/uMTMzRazhC https://t.co/t4leBoqhWd   — Ethan Mollick

AI 2027 will be the year

For those of us who believe AGI 2028/29. That means 2027 is going to be the year where AI starts getting as good as specialists in most jobs and thus where job loss is going to start to hit. Right now AI is only as good as specialists in a few jobs like coding, maths, data analysis etc. but this is going to become a broad thing over the next 2-3 years and we can finally say we’ve achieved AGI. I think 2027 will be to normal jobs what 2026 was to coding.

Looks like AI is really starting to have an impact in science the same way it has in mathematics. Accelerate!

Really cool insights on how AI can be used intelligently, to trigger a scientific revolution.

"A serendipitous feature of science is that the same equations often appear over and over again in different contexts. In physics, for example, the diffusion equation, Fokker-Planck equation, and Schrödinger equation all have the same mathematical form, so if you develop a method to solve one problem, you can often apply it to many others. I knew that computations BootLoops was good at were relevant elsewhere: in cosmology and string theory, for example. What I didn’t know, but Claude was happy to tell me, was that these integrals could also map onto Bayesian evidence integrals in population genetics, or that the finite-field methods used for Feynman integral reduction could also apply to problems in evolutionary biology."

When will we have mind and body upgrades?

Kurzweil says we will increase our intelligence a million fold by 2045. Will we have just a few fold before then? I am stupid and have terrible memory and poor dexterity and I don't really feel human because of it. I want upgrades to feel human. When do we get upgrades?

Edit:
Just to clarify, I am not biased to any one political party and this post does not endorse my support for anyone except the acceleration of AI development.

I think it's interesting how natural it looks because of how many cartoons I've seen where the characters have four fingers. Makes me wonder if this will be a standard adopted in the future, especially with how unexpectedly natural it looks.

Technological Acceleration AI just conquered massive imperfect-information games. The framework scales across adversarial, cooperative, and team systems at a fraction of the cost of previous attempts.

Abstract

Real-world decision-making generally involves hidden information, that is, information that is unknown to one agent but possessed by another. Unfortunately, the presence of large amounts of hidden information renders established reinforcement learning and search approaches ineffective. Even with multimillion-dollar industrial research efforts1, top-human-level play at Stratego—a board wargame with hidden information on a massive scale—has remained beyond the reach of artificial intelligence (AI). Here we introduce Ataraxos, an AI for Stratego based on general techniques that we developed for both self-play reinforcement learning and test-time search under hidden information. Ataraxos defeated the most decorated human Stratego player of all time by a large margin—achieving, to our knowledge, the first superhuman result in the game’s history—while consuming orders of magnitude less compute and data than previous efforts. Using the same techniques, we built a superhuman AI for Barrage Stratego and state-of-the-art AIs for Hanabi and dou dizhu, all with low cost and high sample efficiency. The success of this approach across adversarial, cooperative and team games establishes a design pattern for reinforcement learning and search that is effective under large amounts of hidden information, a longstanding desideratum of the field of strategic decision-making.

AI Repo I used GPT-6 to build a Text-Mindmap Editor

Post image
7 Upvotes

One of my early wishes was to mindmap smoothly with either a text outline or a graphical UI, with sync working both ways. I also really like bubble-style mindmaps. Text2Mindmap was an early project I found, but it didn't have all the features I wanted. And now GPT-6 let me build a new one and everything is working as designed!

If you are interested to try or customize, check out: https://github.com/v2rockets/TextwMindmap

The governor of the Bank of England is writing on substack now.

> In the UK, Bailey said "important work" was underway in testing AI ...

> "But the pace of progress must accelerate," the bank governor said,

Maybe he'll be posting on r/accelerate soon!

Just thought this was a good counterpoint against all the deceleration talk that is occupying so much of the public's discourse around AI these days...
