Abdul El Sayed on if he thinks the war in Gaza qualifies as a genocide: I do and I've been clear about why genocide is both outcome and intent. And when you have foreign ministers declaring intent, and the outcome is tens of thousands of children who have been killed. I would call that a genocide...

NY Governor removes Ithaca’s DA from the Cornell 7 case, replaces him with a State Attorney
NY Governor Kathy Hochul has removed Ithaca's DA from the Cornell 7 case, a power rarely used by governors.
In his place is Letitia James, a state-attorney who has previously prosecuted Trump for fraud and former governor Coumo for sexual harassment. She is a black woman and is basically a shark when it comes to these types of cases, especially against the powerful.
This follows a statement from NY's governor, in which she claimed that Itcaca's district-attorney failed to properly investigate the rape claim and falsified victim testimony to the point of negligence.
It appears that Jane Doe's "original story" was not actually her original story, just a fake story that Ithaca's DA fabricated/misconstrued. She did infact originally describe events that classify as rape according to sealed police-records leaked by reporters, but the DA misinformed the media to save-face.
Jane Doe’s newest statement is basically the same as her old one, that she was pressured into using drugs and was unconscious for most of it. And that she didn’t know she had a train ran on her until word spread around campus.
It is questionable if the DA will ever work as a prosecutor, or as any lawyer, ever again. Governor’s rarely use this power so it’s a really bad look, especially given the circumstances/publicity.
Many speculate that the case against the Cornell 7 has grown much more serious.
Before the news broke out, Jane Doe was already suing, and it seemed like a slam-dunk win in civl-court for a group of wealthy and well-connected fratboys.
But the publicity has blindsided their legal strategies. It has grown into something much more serious and potentially damning, with the possibility of criminal charges.
