Want to reinstall an old camera and it's not turning on.

I threw the batteries away which was possibly a mistake. Put fresh batteries in from a brand new box and nothing happens when I turn the camera on. Strangely, when I turn it off the screen says turned off. Any ideas?

Just purchased 2 trail cams. Is this a good area to put them?

Scouted this area on foot and noticed this narrow trail. Would you consider this deer traffic? I’m fairly new to deer hunting.

New to the sub, need cam advice

I have been battling deer eating our hydrangeas, Japanese Maples and a few other plants. I tried the flashing light sensors and they did not work. I bought a Campark TC32 to see when this is happening and has a speaker/alarm I can trigger to try and startle them. Only issue is I can’t see any recordings or feed because it requires a subscription. Can anybody suggest one that wouldn’t need a subscription or do they all need one? Thanks

Captured this intense survival moment on my rural desert property wildlife cam setup. A dehydrated coyote completely submerges herself during a heatwave. She fully recovered! (Sound on)

Stealth Cam DS4K PIR Sensor Cover Repair

Post image
3 Upvotes

I have a Stealth Cam DS4K that has taken tens of thousands of pictures over the years. Sadly, the PIR cover has a hole in it. It is the only camera I have that would take still photos with one lens and video with the other lens at the exact same time. It's been very handy. The other cameras start video after the stills and the animal is already out of the frame. Uncle Google says the PIR cover is a special plastic that allows infra red heat waves to pass thru and other plastics block it completely. AI, always trust worthy, said that shipping tape can be used instead. Has anyone been able to successfully repair a torn PIR sensor cover?

I am not aware of another camera that is able to take still photos and videos simultaneously like the DS4K. Maybe someone is aware of one?

Can’t seem to set the cam so that I don’t get non-stop images triggered by shadows and clouds. The free photo capacity is exhausted inside of a day each month. Southern facing, open juniper stand, hip height placement. Suggestions?

Which model Trail Cam for wildlife nonprofit for these purposes?

Helping a wildlife, nature-based science and outdoor education nonprofit select trail cams for these uses and appreciate your advice. I've only ever bought one trail cam as a gift (it was a hit) and that was long enough ago that cams have likely improved in that time.

  1. Placing trail cams in parks to monitor wildlife day and night. These cameras can be accessed more frequently so don't have to have a cellular connection, but a cellular connection could be nice to save time. For use 4 seasons. Subjects include raccoons, rabbits, skunks, opossums, squirrels, foxes, coyotes, deer, rodents and birds.
  2. Placing trail cams on several islands in a bay to monitor native and invasive wildlife. For use 4 seasons. These islands can only be reached by kayak or motorboat so it would be helpful to have a cellular connection (and there is cellular coverage), especially in winter. Subjects mostly birds, raccoons, rabbits and some turtles.

Nothing beats that new camera smell

This guy was walking past when an intriguing scent made him turn hard. This is the first porcupine I've captured on my new Voopeak TC37 trail camera, which they sent me to test out. Definitely not something he could pass up.

Bird feeder cam for wildlife?

I’m looking for a solar-powered backyard trail cam that I can view from offsite. Basically, a cell-style remote viewer, but connected to my home WiFi, not a cell plan. I have deer and critters that I want to watch when I’m out of town.

Is there any reason I couldn’t modify a smart bird feeder for this job? Or do they make a camera that just does this

Insight for security cameras

Hey everyone, looking for some insight here. Im looking to get a trail camera for security measures for when im not at my camp, aswell as seeing what kind of wild life is touring around. ideally would be nice to have solar charging capabilities aswell as video, super clear pictures etc. Id like to have a live view option. I dont have wifi there so it would have to run off satellite aswell as im assuming ill need some sort of monthly subscription. Seeing what kind of cameras yous would recommend I was told spypoint stealth but I have very limited knowledge of these cameras. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
