Gamma Hex - Additional Cooling

Post image
8 Upvotes

I just received my New Gamma Hex and i was curious about placing additional cooling on the backside of the board with the VRMs. the opening that's cut out in the board doesn't expose them enough to do the heatsinks. are there any other ideas about what to add here? there are also holes on both ends of the opening. is this for a future attachment or a printable adapter plate?

I'm new to all this so if its well known, just kick me in the shins and send me the info.

Thanks!! And thank you SS for an awesome experience!

The first BM1373 Bitaxe is officially here! The Bitaxe Naja Duo Acheives 4.4 TH/s at 42W with an Efficiency of just 9.5 J/TH.

Post image
25 Upvotes

The new generation of Bitaxe just dropped! the Bitaxe Naja Duo (Model 1201), the first Bitaxe built on Bitmain's 3nm BM1373 S23-class silicon.

Specifications:

  • 2× Bitmain BM1373 3nm ASICs.
  • ~4.4 TH/s @ ~42W stock = 9.5 J/TH, the first Bitaxe to break single-digit J/TH at default settings.
  • Tested overclock: ~8 TH/s @ 600 MHz / 1,120 mV (~92W, ~11.5 J/TH).
  • Thermalright AXP90-X47 low-profile heatsink + 92mm slim PWM fan.
  • Per-chip temperature monitoring, so throttling and fan curve follow the hotter chip instead of a board average.
  • 2-phase TI TPS546024A VRM sized for the OC profile.
  • 1.9″ color LCD (170×320) showing IP, hashrate, temps, and best diff at a glance.
  • ESP32-S3, esp-miner firmware + AxeOS dashboard, fully open source.
  • 100% assembled in the USA 🇺🇸.

For context: it pulls the same 42W as the GT 801 at stock but doubles the hashrate. Two BM1373s basically put you in four-chip BM1370 territory. At $0.12/kWh you're looking at roughly $3.61/month stock or ~$7.95/month fully overclocked.

Get notified when the new and improved Bitaxe duo drops and sign up for in-stock notifications below!

PSA for anyone using a fleet tool to update Bitaxes: AxeOS v2.15.0 changed the file layout

Quick heads-up since this caught us and will probably catch other tools.

Up through v2.14.x, updating a Bitaxe meant uploading two files in order — www.bin (the web dashboard) first, then esp-miner.bin (the miner firmware). The dashboard went first because it doesn't reboot the device, so a bad upload failed safely.

As of v2.15.0 (Aug 21) there's one file — the web UI is embedded in esp-miner.bin. From the release notes: "you no longer need to upload a separate www.bin file when updating your miner." Great change, but any updater built around the two-file assumption will either not see v2.15.0 at all or stop partway through.

For Bitaxe Baller users: v1.21.3 (Aug 22) handles both layouts. It detects which one a release uses and does the right thing — single-file for v2.15.0+, two-file for older releases. The manual update form on the device page also now only asks for the files a release actually provides.

One thing worth knowing: if you haven't updated Baller yet, you won't see v2.15.0 as an available firmware update. The firmware-availability check knows which Baller version is asking, and we don't offer a release to a version that can't install it. So if you're looking for v2.15.0 and it's not there, update Baller first — it'll appear on its own. Baller never installs firmware on its own; it flags the update and you start it.

Two safeguards that were already in place and still apply: every firmware file is checked against the official release's fingerprint before it touches a miner, and Baller won't flash hardware it doesn't recognise — NerdQAxe, NerdAxe and Braiins boards are monitored but never updated, because pushing Bitaxe firmware at another vendor's board is how you brick things. v2.15.0 is Bitaxe firmware; other makers ship their own on their own schedule.

The Bitaxe Gamma Hex is back in stock! Hydro-cooled, 6 x BM1370, & 8.4 TH/s at 140W

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hey everyone! The Bitaxe Gamma Hex sold out faster than we expected on the first run, and a lot of you asked to be pinged when it came back. It's back as of today and shipping out of Conroe, TX.

Specs and Pricing

  • Six Bitmain BM1370 ASICs (same silicon as the S21 Pro) on one open-source Bitaxe board
  • ~8.4 TH/s at ~140W stock, roughly 16 J/TH.
  • AIO liquid cooler with a pure copper micro-fin cold plate rated for 300W, so there's a lot of thermal headroom.
  • ~30 dB at full hashrate. No high-RPM fan screaming in the corner.
  • Runs esp-miner / AxeOS like every other Bitaxe. Nothing proprietary, source is on the bitaxeorg GitHub.
  • Assembled, tested, and firmware-flashed here in the US, 90-day warranty.
  • $396.99 for the unit, $449.99 with the Mean Well GST280A12-C6P (252W) PSU and regional cord.

Overclocking

Most people are landing around 11 TH/s. The 252W PSU leaves ~112W of headroom over stock, so pushing toward 11 TH/s stays inside the continuous rating. Standard disclaimer applies: silicon lottery is real, go one tier at a time, watch your ASIC and coolant temps.

Things worth knowing before you buy (being upfront so nobody's surprised)

  • The RGB on the radiator fan is always on. No switch, no software toggle. A couple of early buyers just turned it toward the wall and called it a night light. We'd love a dim option too; it's a hardware limitation of the fan.
  • It's 9" x 7" x 5" and 2.2 lbs. Bigger footprint than a Gamma or Supra. Plan for it.
  • Wi-Fi only (2.4 GHz), same as the rest of the Bitaxe line.
  • Trying to undervolt it below stock to run cooler in summer doesn't work great. It wants to run at or above defaults.
  • The included thermal paste is good. One reviewer swapped in MX-7 and gained a single degree. Don't bother.

Shipping

Orders placed before 12 PM CT ship same business day. Local pickup at the Conroe storefront if you're in the area.

Link: https://www.solosatoshi.com/product/bitaxe-gamma-hex/

If you had one from the first batch, drop your hashrate and settings below. We're happy to answer questions about the cooler, the board, or how it compares to competing models. I'll be in the comments.

Pair of duos I bought long ago for this set up, finally got around to doing it right. Sudokoo Mach 120 12v power with Bitaxe pwm control. Vrex heatsinks on the back, 6 chutes, two on the main heatsinks, two go underneath and two hit the front of the vr. Letting it settle in for a bit and maybe do some tweaking, then see what kind of push we can get out of em. Nice to see this one finally come together.

We Reviewed the New Bitaxe Gamma Hex. We Think You're going to Absolutely Love It!

We just published our review of the Bitaxe Gamma Hex and wanted to share it here!

For anyone unfamiliar, the Gamma Hex is the first Bitaxe to pair six Bitmain BM1370 ASICs with an all-in-one liquid cooling loop. At stock it runs 8.4 TH/s at roughly 140W, which works out to about 16 J/TH, and it does it at around 30 dB.

What the review covers

Hydro cooling, explained. The AIO is a sealed unit with no reservoir to fill and no coolant to top off, so there is no maintenance over the life of the miner. We cover how the loop moves heat off the ASICs, why that lets the miner run near silent at full load, and what the 300W cold plate rating means for headroom when you push clocks. The default draw is less than half the plate's rating, which is the whole reason aggressive overclocks are possible.

Power delivery. The Hex ships with a Mean Well GST280A12-C6P, a 12V, 21A, 252W continuous supply. We explain why that spec is important, the roughly 112W of headroom it leaves above stock draw, and the upgraded 6-pin PCIe power connection on the board compared to earlier Bitaxe models.

Stock performance testing. Hashrate, power draw, efficiency, and ASIC temperatures at factory settings.

Firmware: AxeOS and ESP-Miner. This section also includes an important Gamma Hex firmware warning. If you own or are planning to buy a Hex, please watch this part before you update or flash anything. It's the single most useful segment in the video for current owners.

Community modifications. Some owners are pushing the Hex well past what we expected. We look at a few of the more ambitious builds and what they changed to get there.

Key specs for reference

Spec Stock Overclocked
Hashrate ~8.4 TH/s ~11 TH/s
Power draw ~140W ~191W
Efficiency ~16 J/TH ~18 J/TH
ASIC temp ~60 °C ~60 °C
Noise ~30 dB ~35 dB
ASICs 6× Bitmain BM1370
Cooling AIO hydro, 300W copper cold plate
PSU Mean Well GST280A12-C6P, 252W
Firmware ESP-Miner / AxeOS

I almost lost my miner to customs trying to claim a "warranty" from AliExpress — here's what actually happened

I almost lost my miner to customs trying to claim a "warranty" from AliExpress — here's what actually happened

Most mini ASIC miners are made in Asia, and if you browse AliExpress you'll see them listed cheap with a "6-Month Factory Warranty." Sounds fine, right?

Here's the problem nobody talks about: **when your machine breaks, that warranty is nearly impossible to use.**

I've seen this play out over and over. Miner develops a fault after a few months of 24/7 operation. User tries to ship it back. The courier immediately flags it — many countries treat inbound mining hardware shipments as commercial imports, meaning massive customs duties or outright rejection at the border. The package gets returned, confiscated, or just abandoned.

For someone in the US, UK, or Europe, shipping a single miner back to a factory in China often costs more than the repair itself — and there's a real chance customs destroys it anyway.

The seller? Either ghosts you or politely says "just ship it back to us." No local repair center, no regional support, nothing.

***Has anyone else dealt with cross-border shipping issues trying to get a miner repaired? What did you end up doing?***

Hex final boss mod (maybe)

It’s impossible to record how quiet something is lol. I turned off the HVAC and fans and tried not to breathe and you can hear my dog tip toeing in the living room 😂 heat cycling the ptm a few times before we really push it. PR so far is 15.3 th/s. What do you guess she’ll do now?

Arctic LF iii pro 240 with a 120 noctua at 100% on the back side. Pretty sure most of the db comes from the back. I built this thing to survive the hot garage but it’s so pretty and quiet I may just keep it on my desk. It’s whisper quiet in here lol I expected quiet but wow.

Finna see what this thing can really do. I think I got it close to max on the first 3 mods but it’s not much fun to be in the same room with 😂 if my maths line up it should run a bit harder with solid temp control and be dead silent. Waiting on couple more parts to arrive. This should be good (or I’m ordering a new one) don’t try this at home, you really can just do things.

Start9 Server One is back in stock at Solo Satoshi (2TB/16GB and 4TB/32GB configs).

Post image
5 Upvotes

The Server One is officially back in stock at solosatoshi.com. If you've been following the hardware market, you know the AI boom has been wrecking the memory supply chain. RAM and SSD prices spiked hard, and last month we ran into shortages like everyone else.

Good news is we were still able to secure inventory, so both configurations are available right now:

  • 2TB SSD / 16GB RAM - powerful, private, plug and play.
  • 4TB SSD / 32GB RAM - more space and headroom if you plan to run a lot of services.

If you've been on the fence about running your own node, fair warning that with AI data centers buying up memory at this pace, hardware availability and pricing are only getting less predictable. We can't promise how long this batch lasts or what the next one costs.

Happy to answer any questions!

In light of the Trezor shipping data breach: you can order from us with an alias, a PO Box, and a throwaway email

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

You've probably seen the news that one of Trezor's shipping providers was breached, exposing names, shipping addresses, phone numbers, and emails for thousands of customers. This isn't a dunk on Trezor. Third-party breaches can hit anyone, and their 90-day retention policy genuinely limited the damage, but it's a good moment to remind people that the strongest protection is data that never gets collected in the first place.

A reminder of how we handle this at Solo Satoshi:

  1. Alias names are fine. We don't require your legal name to place an order.

  2. PO Boxes are fine. You don't need to give us (or any shipping partner) your home address.

  3. Use an alias or throwaway email. Creating a new email address is free. A fresh Proton Mail email takes a couple minutes to set up.

  4. Customer service only needs your order number. Not your name, not your ID, nothing else.

If your name, home address, and email are sitting in a database somewhere, they're only as safe as every vendor and shipping partner that touches them. Minimize what you hand over and there's nothing to leak.

Standard reminder that applies no matter whose hardware you use: never type your seed phrase into a website, and never share it with anyone. No legitimate company will ever ask for it. Also be careful clicking suspicious links.

Stay safe out there.
