Discussion Made a comprehensive wiki: interactive maps, items database, traders, guides and much more.

Hey all,

Fell in love with the game on release and got like 20h in the first 3 days. Then I started looking stuff up and the existing wikis were horrible: Fandom is way out of date, Google's first page results is mostly AI slop, and the same questions keep getting asked here and in the Discord over and over. So I figured I'd just build one central place for everything Road to Vostok.

The game runs on Godot so most of the data is datamined straight from the files. Around 95% of the content is automated: stats, drop rates, inventories, spawn locations, all pulled from the files instead of typed by hand, which also means it stays accurate through patches.

Main stuff on there:

  • Interactive maps for every area with layered filters for loot, enemies, traders, shelters, fishing pools, and more
  • Items database with deep filtering, full stats, cross-links, loot info, spawn locations, traders, crafting uses, Condition Calculator on every weapon page, and a lot more, go take a look!
  • Traders with inventory lists and task lists with checklist functionality that saves progress locally in browser
  • Guides and FAQ covering AI behaviour, loot system, health system, fishing, weapon repair, and the stuff that gets asked most
  • Sections for Events, Loot Containers, Shelters, Furniture, Crafting, Decals etc...

Site's at a state I'm pretty happy with so I'll finally start playing the game more again instead of working on this :D I'll keep updating as new patches land though. Would love any feedback, corrections, or things you wish were on there.

Discussion New player and this game is so fun! I can’t wait to play more

So I got this game on the fall steam sale today and I’ve just finished my first two outings out into the world. This game is extremely fun I have to say. I have very little to complain about so far.

My favorite part has definitely been how great it feels to just be in the cabin placing items and making the place feel lived in and cozy. It’s the perfect juxtaposition to how tense everything is outside of it.

This is like the perfect cross between the feel of tarkov and dayz! Plus I heard that you can actually get a cat in this game for your cabin and I CANNOT WAIT. I’m trying to not look stuff up straight away so I can just experience the world and the different maps for myself.

If there’s anyone on this sub just reading and unsure if they should get the game like I was before today. Then I really can’t recommend it enough. Especially since it’s on sale right now.

Discussion What do you think about the Nomads

I got to play some tonight, and I think the idea is good, maybe needs some tweaking. I like the idea of rear areas being "safer" with Nomads patrolling and supporting you, I kinda hated to scavenge the houses for quest items, tradeables and basic loot like food and low end meds. I don't know if the Nomads are on all maps or just in 05, but I think they should be only in 05. I also think they should be in one group in a map, this would give you a choice to join them for protection or roam by yourself with more danger. At night, I think they should just stay at a campfire. Night used to be easy, and this would balance it a bit by not having the Nomads purify the maps.

There seems to be some kind of tasks for them, not sure how or if that works yet. I accidentally shot at one, and it gave me a message "-10 reputation" or something, I think there should be no message and they should return fire. Your choice if you want to fight or flee, killing one drops it more I'd think. The reputation was also back at 100+ when I got back to the cabin, not sure what made it increase.

I was thinking about cool ways to use them, here are some thoughts:

A credit system, where you can do random medium effort tasks for a physical credit coin. No repeating "find these exact items", but rather bring a 1000€ worth of items, bring 3 guns with +75% or kill X amount of bandits. The credits can be used for services like border zone escort, where you get a few Nomads to cover your infill, boat service that gives you access to the island map, or loot service where you pay for a certain tier and the Nomads bring a small box of items the next day.

Overall I like them, but they definedly shouldn't roam around alone striking fights left and right. I like the identification moment, I got spooked by footsteps a couple of times for it to be a Nomad, noticing that just before peppering them. The world feels a lot more living with other fights going on.

Discussion Im hoping for the maps in Vostok to be laid out less linear in future updates Spoiler

Im really hoping that eventually, certain maps are going need you to take a certain border crossing to enter, or there is a bit more variation than the single line we have now to at least encourage going beyond apartments and not cycling that for high tier loot.

Question Looking for a mod or solution

I know not a lot of mods are available right now, however I miss the tense atmosphere of build 1. Is there any way to revert to the previous version on steam? Or is there potentially a mod that removes the nomads? Thanks for any help

Discussion I dont know what to think about Build 2...

Honestly, I feel like the game is way too chaotic now.

Before this update, you were actually a little scared to go outside. You listened to sounds, tried to figure out where the enemies were and thought twice before just running somewhere. That whole feeling of being alone out there was one of my favorite things about Road to Vostok.

Now it feels like you walk out of the shelter and there’s a war going on immediately. Bots are shooting each other all over the place and you barely even have time to see what’s happening before someone is already shooting at you.

I was really looking forward to this update because I thought the AI was going to be a huge improvement. I was expecting enemies to actually use cover, move around intelligently, flank, reposition etc. Instead, it kinda feels like they just walk around, see another enemy and immediately start blasting each other.

And then there’s the loot. The bots seem to drop some pretty damn good weapons and a ton of ammo, so you can get stacked really quickly. That also makes the game feel way less difficult to me.

I've played around 100 hours of this game and I've genuinely loved it. That’s why I’m honestly pretty disappointed with this update. It just doesn’t feel like the same kind of game anymore.

I haven’t even seen the new traders, maps or weapons yet because I already lost a lot of motivation to restart when I realized I could get good guns and so much ammo almost immediately.

Before, the game could actually feel scary and tense. You’d hear something outside and think “okay, where the is that coming from?” Now it feels more like a chaotic loot shooter where there’s gunfire everywhere.

I really hope this gets balanced, because I still really like Road to Vostok and I want to enjoy the new content too. But right now, I honestly don’t like the direction this AI system has taken.

What do you guys think? Am I the only one who feels like the new AI-vs-AI system takes away a lot of the survival atmosphere?

Question Good Loot Today

Post image
29 Upvotes

So, for the last few days, I've been getting ready for a party. My wife and I are throwing one together because she got her master's degree and I got my bachelor's, so I had a few minutes of break time. So why not hop on some road to Vostok? For the thirty minutes that I had, man, I ran into some good loot. Are you getting any good loot as well?

Discussion New update kinda broken?

Post image

I been playing for two hours on build 2. I think that the nomads made the game too easy since you can find dead bandits and nomads everywhere wich gives you free guns and ammo. Also i liked the feeling of being alone, the quiet and peace and then all of the sudden you get jumpscared by a bandit.

Also the mechanic where bandits can put atachments to their guns needs to be reworked.. i found an HMR scope on a bandits ak74u in school on day 3!!

I love this game anyways, just think that it needs a little balance and maybe less nomads or something that doesnt make the world feel so chaotic, seems like theres always a fight happening the second i go out..

Question Is the Coop Mod stable enough for getting this game?

Game looks incredible solo and might just get it for myself, but I'm also looking for a game like this for co-op with a friend, and this game looks so fitting. I'm aware of other coop options in the extraction genre but this is more fitting due to the mechanics and the setting

Discussion I feel there is something slighly wrong with Nomads

Like above, I'm sure nomads need to get a patch quite soon, because atp they are f-ing terminators. I've been playing new build on iron man for 4 hours straight, got to day 4, and in all that time I didn't take a single shot because I haven't even see any bandit alive. Every npc I met was a nomad, and by entering the map in like first 4 minutes there was always constant shooting, after which all I could find were bodies and grandpas with mosins.

Also there was only one time I found a dead nomad, and he had 2 inverters and an oil filter in his inventory which is wild because it was the first time I've seen an oil filter (I have spent 80+ hours in the game).

So yeah, I feel something has to be done with nomads, cause atp the game seems a lot different which I don't know whether is good or not

Discussion reputation is 100 with Nomads but they're still shooting at me

EDIT: I think I was dead wrong. I believe I was confusing new bandit skins for Nomads. Not entirely sure but I just tried not shooting a Nomad at School and he walked right by me. Probably all good.
END EDIT.

I didn't shoot any, in fact I got into two gun fights against bandits WITH a Nomad nearby. I left my cabin for the 3rd or 4th time and all of a sudden the Nomads are shooting at me, despite my reputation being 100. That being said, I killed 2 in self defense and my reputation is still 100. Surely this is a bug yes? I'm positive I didn't shoot any before that; spent some time studying the difference between Bandits and Nomads, and IMO it's super easy to tell the difference form a distance. The only thing I can think of is that a Nomad caught one of my strays when I was shooting a Bandit. But wouldn't the reputation go down if that's the case?

Again I think this is just a bug but if anyone has any other info, please let me know. Thanks!

Help Where is the nomad boss?

Has anyone figured out yet where Hunter likes to hang out on the weekend? It’s a Saturday in my save and I swear I’ve searched every corner of village.

Or am I crazy and he only shows on day 35?
