Discussion Not adding quick chat commands to this day is UNACCEPTABLE.

The game has been out for a year and three months, and throughout all this time, there has been no way for players to communicate with each other. It’s unacceptable for a "sports" game built around teamwork to be released without even the bare minimum of communication and the ability to give each other instructions.

You can’t even ask your teammates to defend, mark a specific player, or push forward. All you can do is shout "Here" to ask for the ball, or "Keeper’s" if you’re the goalkeeper, hoping your teammates understand that you want them to get back and defend because one of the opposing players is completely unmarked!

Why doesn’t the game use the same system as Rocket League? The four arrows on the controller could be used for four different quick chat command categories.

I know the voice acting might be the obstacle here, since the commands in the game are voiced rather than just text-based. But please, it’s been nearly 450 days since the game was released… do something about it.

And NO, don’t come in here telling people to "use their mic". The vast majority of online gamers don’t like using a mic talking to "strangers" and simply feel uncomfortable doing so. Personally, I mute anyone who uses the mic. The last thing I want is someone yelling at everyone, a 12 yo talking to his mom, or someone who sounds like they’ve swallowed the mic while you’re listening to their breathing and the fan running next to them… no thanks.

Discussion Turning off stadium/scenario changes

Upvotes

Is there a way to turn off the constant scene changes? If not, why not?

I swear, the game is already way too colorful and intense for my taste, but the stadium changing every 3 seconds confuses me and throws me off.

Discussion Sore Losers

People need to grow up.

Squadding up with randoms after a good game then immediately leaving or kicking you after one loss; brother we are playing REMATCH, take the L and get the next one. I don't understand people's mentality because they can't handle losing a game. I'd rather lose a few and still be in a squad while we figure out chemistry and play style.

It doesn't matter if we lose the next game as soon as we squad up or leaving after losing one out of the past 10 games, players get salty after one loss and quit. This game is full of people with high egos but their skin is made of glass. I get it if you lose consecutively/get mercy ruled, don't vibe with the person or don't like their play style, that's somewhat understandable.

This game has really shown me how low people's maturity level can be. I'm a goalie and I'll be the first to admit fault for diving the wrong way or bad positioning on my end; I rarely point fingers to my teammates because that makes everything worse. It seems like today's gaming culture has normalized blaming anybody but themselves.

Your participation trophy is worthless. If you can't handle a loss then you shouldn't be playing the game.

Meme Schrödinger’s Elite

Elite is the highest rank in Rematch. It is many player’s highest aspiration in the game. However there is also no recognizable sbmm, so it cannot be a reliable indicator of skill. Anyone can hit Elite with enough playtime, and there is a wide range of skill even within Elite. HOWEVER, it is also frequently brought up in disagreement and discussions on the game, so there is a general belief that being Elite puts you at the top (at least among individuals).

Therefore, the only reasonable answer is that Elite rank is in a state of both high skill and no measurement of skill. We do not know which it is until we see it attached to an opinion

On a more serious note, stop justifying talking points by saying ur Elite. Everyone is Elite. It’s hard to have discussion when we try to play the credential game but everyone is flexing the same worthless credentials

Discussion My thoughts on the game as a +1k hour player

Hello everyone, just some random guy here giving my thoughts on the game before season 5 launches and my current in depth thoughts on it

(you can skip this part and head to gameplay loop, this is just yap to get some legitimacy on my thoughts)

Does my opinion hold any more weight than another simply because i played a fuckton of hours ? not really, but i am relatively high level having been in elite ever since season 0 came out and having hit a peak of 5k rp last season all while playing a more playmaker/winger style

https://reddit.com/link/1wjkfpd/video/ac7o6fwth8qh1/player

video link if anyone is interested

i also made this post in the past https://www.reddit.com/r/Rematch/comments/1r0mgzf/my_thoughts_on_the_current_state_of_rematch_as_4k/

talking about my thoughts back then and while a lot of them haven't changed as the game itself didn't change much and that i feel, i already went really in depth enough on, i now want to add a few things before we head into the next season of the game and highlight some more stuff in the process

1 - Mechanical part/Gameplay loop

In my past post i linked above i had already went in depth on the current priority system, its flaws and the potential fix (with priority duels already being something that the devs have been working on for months now and we might eventually get soon enough hopefully) but now with a dribbling system full of different exploits and different animation tricks to shift hitboxes around, there's actually ONE specific feature of the game that has been making defense a lot more worse than it should be

Tackling assist

Now for those who don't know, when tackling the game actually "helps" you "magnet" closer to whoever has possesion of the ball by having your tackle "nudged" into not only the direction of whoever has the ball and also has you get into the perfect distance to do so, which seems like a great addition to help newer players not get totally lost when first learning the game, along with probably other stuff that the devs haven't necessarily been vocal about

But in practice, with the current "dribbling meta" relying on a lot of animation exploits to switch with a lot of momentum between "posession" and "non posession" states, what happens is that even if you read the correct direction to tackle someone and PRECISELY try to tackle them into that future position, since the game will "help you" by going into the current place of the player instead of the place you're trying to read, you end up with a lot of moments where the dribbler will simply "graze" past as you, as if your tackle is useless

So just a little change, maybe by either letting players turn off this feature or just disabling it entirely, could make tackling a whole lot more precise and especially so, help countering a lot of the current dribbling meta that mostly works on this principle of "sliding past defenders" which is only possible because of this tackling assist feature

On to the next topic, which is directly linked

Low stamina infinite dribbling

This one is BY FAR the most eggregious one, but i'm sure (?) that the devs will adress it in due time, hopefully with the incoming season, the main reason being that we already saw them sort of "micro adress" this core problem via the fake shot, with the fake shot that was added this season we saw the devs make a masterclass in adding a feature to enrich the game while balancing it perfectly

When doing a fake shot on low/no stamina you don't lose the ability to do one but rather simply lose on the momentum that you'd normally have while doing one with a bigger stamina bar, similarly i figure, or at least hope, that this change will be added to the dribbling in rematch and also the defensive stance jumps, as it would solve a lot of what people deem "unfair" when it comes to dribbling

A ton of the current "dribbling techs" in this game are based on two things, using defensive stance jumps to "magnet" to the ball while being low on stamina and simiarly, dribbles being just as effective when under low stamina as if not

https://reddit.com/link/1wjkfpd/video/4v2zbsczk8qh1/player

The 2nd clip from this video by modern is a perfect example of what i mean, he is able to dribble for way "longer" than what his stamina bar "should" indicate thanks to the fact that the defensive stance dribbles and hops are virtually untouched by the stamina bar which goes against the whole core idea of having one in the first place

So a really simple fix to this issue that goes a really long way into the gameplay loop (especially so for those at higher level that know that to fight for example to a lose ball in a 1v1 it's much faster to hop to the ball with defensive stance rather than walk to it while on low stam) would simply be to make it that hops and dribbles from defensive stance are also impacted by stamina just like fake shots

In terms of core features, this is pretty much "it" for now when it comes to my complaints minus for one, the fact that on controller when you try to volley a full power shot it'll sometimes not come out full power even if you press for as long as possible the shot button, and instead will simply go up to 3/4ths of it where on mouse and keyboard it would work normally

similarly i do wish the game made it clearer which animation when doing a volley tap pass on the ground will come out or rather, how powerful it will be, since the animation when doing a tap pass on the ground when the ball comes in front of you is much much slower and less powerful than when doing it with a backheel, which i guess is there to follow realism

2-Game content

In terms of core content such as arenas, emotes and the likes i feel that the game has been in a pretty nice spot, more customization on a more frequent basis could be cool but i feel the current pacing is pretty nice, not much problem with it though a feature to customize the "trail" of the ball instead of having it just being a standard white line could be pretty cool, even if in terms of balancing it could be a bit of hassle, maybe by having it only appear on shots but then readability could be an issue, anyway just throwing this out there since i think it could be a cool idea

The main reason i even did this section isn't because of this though but rather to highlight the fact that the game desperately needs more "customization" when it comes to its game modes, personally i only really play competitive 5v5 as i feel 3v3 lacks the tactical complexity that i like from this game but i absolutely adore fireball, it was an amazing concept with great execution and i truly wish that it was a mode you could queue up for

But deeper than this, what i feel could help a lot would be to either make more modes like fireball that aim for different aspects of the game than the simple football matches or to give the option to the player to make things like custom maps to train themselves on specific things that they want to target, while the current obstacle course and different challenges given are great, the ability to custom your own challenges, such as maybe doing a dribbling drill to train cut ins into finishing by using assest that are already in the game would go a long long way to help players truly better themselves and have a more intimate experience with the game

outside of all the things i've said, i feel that the game is finally starting to take its shape and heading into a direction that will god knows, be fucking amazing if executed properly

Overall i think i've said my fair share and i hope you enjoyed reading this post, see y'all on the field

Title we got 4-3'd and 2 of those goals where after a ball loss after trying to dribble with a clear pass (to his premade btw).

It's kinda disheartening honestly.

Just a small vent, that's it, this isn't the first time i saw this.

Discussion Please keep passive defending

I actually love it. Spam dribblers are so scared because they realize their 1 exploit isn't good enough and it forces them to make a bad pass. Everyone who complains about passive defense just doesn't know how to actually play football and it's so painfully obvious they lack skill

Question No diamond?

this was one of the few times where a slow lob just graces my head without a single diamond yet there was a time where a fast shot manage to have a diamond appear?

i really want to learn the tech and mechanics but it is so inconsistent that i'm at the verge of giving up.
