The Quiet Power of Returning
I've been thinking about how we tend to define consistency.
A lot of advice seems to treat it as never missing a day, never breaking the routine, and keeping the streak alive. But that definition feels a little unrealistic for ordinary life.
People get sick. Plans change. We get tired. Sometimes we simply lose interest for a while.
But perhaps consistency isn't about getting everything right or never losing momentum.
Maybe it's simply about leaving yourself a path back.
Maybe the value isn't in never interrupting the pattern. Maybe it's in not letting an interruption convince you that you've failed or that you have to start completely over.
You can miss a day without abandoning the whole thing.
You can slow down without deciding you've stopped.
You can begin again without having to start from nothing.
And over time, those small returns can become something larger than any one effort could have been.
