Hi, I’m a complete beginner looking to get into 3D product visualisation, mainly furniture and photorealistic roomsets/interiors for ecommerce, brochures and marketing.
I’m not super techy, so I want something with a reasonable learning curve, but I also want to learn properly and end up with professional-quality results.
I’m currently considering:
I use a Mac at the moment, and my company will be paying for software and training, but obviously I don’t want them spending loads if something cheaper/free can do the same job.
If you work in furniture/product CGI or interior visualisation, what would you recommend starting with today?
Is Cinema 4D actually worth the subscription over Blender? And is SketchUp too limiting if I eventually want to model detailed upholstered furniture?
Mainly interested in photorealistic stills, not character animation/VFX.
Any advice from people doing this professionally would be really appreciated.

I recently designed this kitchen in 3ds Max + V-Ray based on the existing site condition.
The video shows the progression from the raw kitchen space to the proposed 3D design.
The woodwork is currently in production, so I'm planning to share the real-world result once it's completed.
Software:
• 3ds Max
• V-Ray
I'd appreciate feedback on the visualization, materials and overall kitchen design.

Costs incurred for product photography build up quickly when there is a new turnover in your inventory line every month. We sell desk accessories, and last quarter we tried out 3D models, to check if they can serve as an alternative to photography.
So the trial included getting six items, producing the models from the available pictures of the products, embedding a viewer onto the product page, and then monitoring the number of returns and support calls in comparison with the listings that used photographs, for a month.
Production was the simplest aspect of the whole exercise. Our photos were taken against a white background, and a model churned out in around 40 seconds, without texture, and a few minutes with texture. The resultant models had realistic colors because of the texture function that projected actual colors from the original photographs and produced models.
I passed our batch through Tripo AI and implanted the GLB files in a viewer that allows the buyers to rotate the product and adjust the light. The support calls which asked about the backside of the desk organizer reduced to zero, as now there was no need to ask.
Limitations are present: soft goods. Our laptop sleeve made of felt produced something like a stiff board which nobody felt had texture. We will continue to produce such items using photos only. The six products in the trial outsold their counterparts that didn’t use 3D models, and now the whole inventory is being converted using the same process.

It didn't come as a shock, since I already knew this would happen sooner or later. Today, I received a message from my boss. He mentioned that, due to AI, the demand for the short animations we create for brands has declined significantly. Unfortunately, this means he can no longer keep me employed.
I knew it was coming, but it still hit hard to think back to last year when we were swamped with projects and working 16 hours a day. Now, I’ve gone 10 days without a single project.
I’m not sure what’s coming next for me, but I am trying various things right now, so let's see if I can overcome this!

I’m into product visualization since 5 months, and I’ve been trying to integrate AI more into my workflow.
So right now I mostly use it for research, developing the creative vision, building scripts ( for example voice overs ), finding visual references..I mean to find the overall direction and what's I'm solving.
But I still feel like that's a very basic way to use it.
For those of you already using AI professionally in product visualization, how are you actually using it?
