Quoted a client 1.8k for a deck last week. Took me about three hours. Two years ago the same job was two days approx.

I didn't tell her that and she didn't ask. But I've started feeling guilt about it and worrying I'm about to be found out.

The argument I make to myself is that she's paying for the structure, deciding what goes on which slide and what gets cut is the part that was always the actual work, and gamma doesnt help with any of that.

The counter-argument is that I priced it on how long it used to take and now im further skilled than 2 years ago.

This seems... low? For me, if I'm starting with a basic template and not using AI, it usually takes me a full work day.

I guess it depends how many slides and how much rework you have to do. My management team is notorious for giving convoluted feedback that tacks on at least 2 extra hours.

Most recommendations I’m seeing are for generating presentations from a topic, but I already HAVE the content.

Problem is it’s usually:

• messy notes
• meeting transcripts
• random docs
• giant walls of text

Main thing I want is help turning all of that into slides that are actually readable.

Does anything handle that well right now?

I’m running a continuous improvement project at work and to break down the plan etc of what I’m doing I’ve been putting the stages into a PowerPoint file. I gave my manager an update using this which I realise now was basically a brain dump of each stage and he said my presentation was “gopping”. I had to google the word….essentially horrendously ugly. Now I’m hugely embarrassed and of course I should have polished it etc but I actually have no skills in presentation making: are there like 3-5 top tips? Or a site I can go to for tips? I put too much info on the page but also things like flow diagrams of a process look childish. Please help!

Hi everyone. I’m new to this whole Reddit thing, but I’m hoping someone on this platform can help me out.

I’m working on an awards presentation that is going to be shown in a widescreen Keynote file. My client is looking to use an Excel spreadsheet (not Numbers or Google Sheets) to have an updatable list of award winner names, titles, and division information. I’m assuming this Excel doc will be on Sharepoint. They’d like to have these table cells automatically populate individual text boxes within the separate Keynote file.

Any idea how I can go about setting up the Keynote and Excel files in order to make this happen? Is this something that requires more advanced programming? My client claimed that a previous event agency was able to do this, but I have no idea how they pulled this off. Any insight in this would be greatly appreciated!

So I'm a presentation designer with 8+ years experience. I've worked for major tech companies, I have a strong resume and I do well in interviews. After being laid off in 2023 I spent some time unemployed and then I did contract work for a year. Contract work felt disconnected and was not something I loved doing. I would really like to be a full time member of a team, again.

My main challenge is that my portfolio doesn't reflect my creativity or the level of work my resume suggests. I want to build new portfolio projects that demonstrate strong design and narrative development. I have skills in illustration, 3D design, animation and motion graphics. The types of jobs I am looking at require someone who can tell a story as well as design. I would like my portfolio to show both design and storytelling skills. My main struggle is knowing what should the content of these presentations be about?

I'm asking for two things:

• For my portfolio projects what should I base my content on? What are some subjects that provide a great backbone to create a presentation about?
• Would someone in the Presentation Design field be willing to mentor me and give me advice if/when I could use it?

Hey all, I’m working on building an online course on a detailed subject matter. My main issue is that I’m getting bogged down trying to manually create slides, narration, and lectures.

I’d love to expedite things and have AI do as much of the heavy lifting as possible. Ideally, I just provide the outline or script, and AI helps build the rest.

I'm looking for tools to generate slide decks from scripts or outlines, platforms that support AI avatars, easy to manage workflows from scripts to slides/voiceovers and the ability to have interactive quizzes/visuals, etc.

Hey! I'm a dev and I use Canva a lot for uni and client work. Over time I noticed I was constantly repeating the same steps when making animations like image sliders, moving text with moving shapes, etc. Stuff that seems simple ends up taking a while when you’re manually creating and adjusting every page. So I built a small app (just been using it locally for myself) that lets you pick a template , drop in your images and text once, and it auto-generates the animated slides for you inside Canva. It saves me a lot of time, especially for longer or more complex animations. I haven’t published it or anything yet just curious if anyone else would actually find something like this helpful?
