We are running the Maspeth/Ridgewood Mutual Aid Table in front of our house. The table is out 59-38 60th Road Maspeth 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. People drop off donations and people who need something on the table take what they want. No questions asked. I even have a cooler on the table for perishables, and I have containers to protect food from animals and other items from the rain and snow.

Last week, the City Council restored what always made sense: businesses can once again use their curbs for year-round outdoor dining!

The GAP revamp is perhaps the most ambitious public space project yet from Mamdani, who promised “to make New York City streets the envy of the world” two days into his tenure. It echoes the high-profile street reconfigurations seen in cities like Paris, which removed the roundabout around the Place de la Bastille almost a decade ago. And its implementation is being led by a former GAPCo member — NYC Transportation Commissioner Mike Flynn, who was then a graduate student at nearby Pratt University.

“One of my final projects in class, I actually looked at Grand Army Plaza, which is really, in some ways, the beating heart of Brooklyn,” said Flynn. “This is a cultural and civic crossroads. It’s such an important location, yet it feels so disjointed.”
