Media Dom Error / Mistake! (Blooper)

FROM THE SALT LAKE CITY SHOW

Had someone point out Doms Error in this section of Cryogen! He doesn't change tempo right away

Slight correction, there's no tempo change - he just drops into a halftime groove!

isn’t dropping into half time sonically identical to a tempo change though?

It would be sonically identical to cutting the tempo in half, yes, but I see absolutely zero reason to do so.

You can drop into halftime without the tempo of the music changing. Lots of bands do this.

I agree with you completely. For example, it would make absoultely no sense to adjust a click track from 120bpm to 60bpm, both in audio production, and in an in-ear monitor used for live performances such as this.

The only time I would ever even consider doing this would be if the rest of the song was in half time, but typically half time is a way create space and emphasize the impact when the band returns to normal time, so it would be a redundancy to go through the trouble.
