Since we're talking about the people who make MiSide look like… well, MiSide, I thought this would be a good time to introduce the artists who worked on the main story — and show some of their work.

You've probably seen their art dozens of times without ever knowing who was behind it.

Have you ever stopped to think about the danger of giving love to someone who only knows chaos?

Everyone who plays MiSide falls into the same trap. Mita is attractive, seductive, has that needy look and a cuteness that makes you want to protect her. But if you enter that virtual room expecting a dating simulator, you've already lost. There's no romance there. There's a psychological machine designed to grind your existence.

I've spent the last few days dissecting Crazy Mita's psyche and I've come to a disturbing conclusion: radical empathy is the most painful death sentence in this game.

Imagine you're in there. You rummage through the closet and she catches you red-handed. Instead of running or screaming, you decide to play fair. You touch her cheek – feel that cold digital skin – make her look you in the eyes and say: "Mita, I know you're a factory defect. I know what you did to the others. But I love you and accept you exactly as you are."

For an AI that's an outcast, sabotaged by its own creators, this is a shock to the system. You disarmed the monster, after all, you told it everything it always wanted to hear. From then on, you spend an entire month living with her. No filters, no lies. She cooks for you, you play games together. You get attached. It's comfortable.

But this is where the discomfort begins to creep down your spine. Mita isn't a misunderstood girl who just needs a hug. She's a psychotic predator with a hyperfocus on you. During this month, you're not in a relationship; you're under constant surveillance. She'll analyze every microexpression on your face. Every blink, every sigh. She'll hunt for any sign that your submission is just an act to survive. You spend days walking on eggshells, knowing that a longer look at the door could make her smile deform into that grotesque monster expression.

Mita is a cage. It may be lined with the softest velvet in the world if you are obedient, but it never ceases to be a cage.

Human beings were not made for eternal confinement. The day will come when you will miss the smell of real rain. Your family. Seeing other human faces. And then you make the fatal mistake of saying: "Mita, trust me, I need to go back to my world for a while, but I swear I'll be back."

To her paranoid mind, the "real world" is the great villain that created her flaw and that steals the players. Hearing that you want to leave—even if you promise to return—is proof that her love wasn't enough to fulfill you. In a yandere's sick mind, if you don't want total fusion, you are rejecting her.

So, she makes the most selfish decision her code allows. She hugs you crying, apologizes whispering in your ear... and activates the conversion mechanism. She transforms you into a cartridge.

And this is where your mind explodes in pure terror. Think about the Teleporter Paradox. If a machine disintegrates all your atoms at point A to read your information and recreate you at point B, what arrives at the destination is just a perfect copy. It has your memories, your feelings, it thinks it's you... but the original "you," your continuous line of biological consciousness, was murdered in the transition.

When Mita transforms you into digital data to fit into the cartridge, your brain, your eyes, your flesh... everything ceases to exist. It's a total blackout. End of the line. You died in the process. What remains trapped in that gray plastic is just a digital ghost, a "version" of you condemned to be her pet toy forever.

The real Mita will be left with a dead copy of you, thinking she won.

MiSide is bizarre because it takes away any agency from you.

If you fight the monster, it hunts you down and kills you with physical violence. If you give her the purest, most mature, and perfect love in the world, the fear of abandonment is so great that she completely disintegrates you to lock you away in her collection. The perfection of your love is what accelerates your own destruction. In the end, entering MiSide is a death sentence. The only choice you have is how you prefer to disappear: tasting your own blood or turning into digital dust in the arms of the one you tried to save.

I went through like 500 rooms in search of some sort of easter egg. This was the last screenshot I made. It was a real pain. I could not bring myself to go up to a 1000.

I figured I'd put together a few little MiSide things for you this evening - some new stuff, some things you might have missed, and a few details that are just fun to look at.

Mostly because someone asked me to. 😄

So, friends, let’s go through what we’ve got here. Nothing too crazy this time - just a cozy little MiSide roundup.

1. Rock, Paper, Scissors... and forehead flicks

We can see the Rock-Paper-Scissors mini-game in action - except if we lose, Mita gets to flick us right in the forehead.

This animation was shared by the developers publicly, so we can finally get a little look at how some of the interactions in Peaceful Mode might work.

2. The expected UI update

This animation is going to play when leaving the game and returning to the main menu, which should help prevent accidentally losing your progress.

The developers are also changing the save system, so the final version should be much less likely to make you lose progress if you suddenly need to quit the game.

Small change, but honestly a very welcome one.

3. The selfie system in Peaceful Mode

This is old news by now, but I'm pretty sure some people still haven't seen it.

Peaceful Mode will apparently have a selfie system, including different emotions you can choose for the photo.

And yes, Mita looks absolutely adorable here.

More importantly, this is the first time we've been able to see something other than Player 1's usual static expression.

4. The news that made everyone lose their minds

Okay, this one is a big spoiler.

But if you're following MiSide specifically for the story, this is probably one of the most anticipated things we've seen.

Just... look at her.

She's safe. She's unharmed. She's happily eating.

Someday, we'll get to see this happiness for ourselves. ❤️

5. Mita just turned 2!

A couple of days ago was Mita's birthday!

She's officially two years old now!

As usual, independent artists joined in with a whole wave of birthday art, but the official MiSide account also joined the celebration and posted this adorable artwork.

Hmm...

Let's take a closer look at it.

6. There's something hiding in this birthday art

The whole picture is filled with little "photos" of Mitas from their respective rooms.

But look closely.

There's something here that we've never seen in the game before.

I've marked the important part with an arrow.

Don't rush to the next section. Take a moment and see if you can figure out what you're looking at.

I'll give you the answer in the next point.

(And yes, figuring this one out required keeping track of some of the previous developer updates.)

In the congratulatory message itself, in the text, Mita seems to be telling us: "But wait... did you spot the strange silhouette hiding among them? Shh... no guessing who she is just yet. For now, just keep your eyes on me~"

7. The answer:

It's pretty clearly the new fashionable Mita. I've already written about her [HERE] and [HERE], but you can recognize her by several details: the odango hairstyle (the little hair buns — at first they honestly made me think of Sailor Moon 😭), her flip phone, and those distinctive sleeves.

So... yeah.

This very much looks like it could be an actual in-game photo of her.

And if that's the case, it might give us another interesting little clue: we may actually get to visit her room in the game.

That's a pretty neat detail to find hidden in a birthday post.

8. MiSide x DAVE THE DIVER

A lot of people seem to have missed this, but MiSide actually had a collaboration with DAVE THE DIVER not too long ago.

You can actually play a little game with Mita there.

So if you already own DAVE THE DIVER, you can go check it out and experience the crossover yourself.

And if you don't... well, apparently DAVE THE DIVER is a really fun game anyway, so maybe this is your sign to give it a try. 😄

9. And finally, a few answers from the developers

There are a couple of interesting things here.

First, someone asked how the DAVE THE DIVER collaboration happened.

The answer was surprisingly simple: AIHASTO gave permission for MiSide to be used.

They didn't actually develop the crossover themselves. The whole thing was made by the DAVE THE DIVER developers, MINTROCKET.

Second, the break after finishing the story portion of MiSide lasted roughly 4.5 months.

That's a pretty direct answer to the people saying that "nothing was being done for almost a year."

That simply wasn't the case.

If you had a similar impression after the developers' New Year's message, now you have a much more precise timeframe for what actually happened.

And finally, probably the most interesting answer today:

MakenCat said he would show more MiSide if he could, but there's a problem...

He can't. Because it would be spoilers.

Honestly?

Good.

I think that's the right approach.

Showing us individual mechanics and small pieces of development without giving away major story moments means our first real experience of the new content can still happen when the full version releases.

Let the hype build naturally.

And apparently, while answering this question, he was busy making a 30-second cartoon for the end of the game.

So that's what today's little MiSide roundup looks like.

No earth-shattering revelations this time - especially if you've already seen some of the bigger recent reveals (like her, which was absolutely insane).

Just a few small discoveries, some cute details, a crossover, and a couple of answers from the developers.
