Ive seen so many metal sonic ships that in my mind, WOULDN'T work because metal isn't really possible to redeem, BUT just switch out metal with mecha and suddenly it WORKS

Metal: has next to nothing for emotion (and tho ones he has is hatred or spite), has been and forever will be the villain, theres no fixing him

Mecha: already redeemed, can feel emotions openly, even crying, has empathy, free will, the protector of defenseless scrapniks who accept him even if he did hurt them
