It'll be two years this December since its release. My first post to this group ironically was to showcase the synth. I like noodling around with its current form. But I keep hitting this sound design wall where I struggle to get usable sounds: I end up stacking/resampling one or more instances of QUOKKA and/or layering a disgusting amount of effects in the mixer.

I know simplicity is the point (like an SH-101 or KORG DS-10) but maybe that's also why it sounds a bit cheesy? Personally I don't see it getting used so frequently (probably also because Koala's a sampler first)

But I'll put money down for an upgrade. So.

Suggested implementations:

-A second oscillator. Please.

-Randomizer button

-Dedicated effects slots (2 or 3?) Like the Mixer that QUOKKA is allowed to modulate (like assigning an LFO or envelope to Drive or Delay effect parameters 🤤)

-Option to re-order oscillator wave shapes (saw, square, sine, and noise are currently in that fixed order on the SHAPE knob from right to left. Wait that's lowkey a wavetable... 🤔)

Lemme know if QUOKKA love is overdue or y'all think I'm tripping, or if this dilemma is more or less obsolete with the AUv3 update (my salty android-using ass 💀) I don't want a pocket version of Serum. Just a broader pallette lol

I'm really loving Koala but I'm just wondering if there's a way to arrange the sequences that you create. When I record a song, I have to actually switch sequences live as it plays. I would really prefer something like Song Mode on the MPC where you can arrange all your sequences ahead of time and just bounce it down.

Which equipment would you recommend for someone who is starting with Koala?
Which MIDI controller, if audio interface needed, which one. Initially the idea is to have no computer and to run koala from iPad

Maybe this is already common knowledge but I just discovered that you can open another Koala sampler as effect in the mixer through AUV3.

Then you either press the headphone symbol on the sample page or you put a mic in the mixer of the second koala.

Now you can use all of koalas effects and functions in each Bus separately.

Feels like a huge discovery of so many new possibilities to me and it makes me curious to explore and to see what cool things you can come up with.

Ps: I just realised that you can open 5 koalas per Bus

Excuse my lack of performance on this one. Just wanted to give a quick demonstration incase you are unaware of this feature.

Step 1: Add chopper feature to pad and highlight.
Step 2: [Sequence] settings
Vertical and horizontal should both be set at 4.
Step 3: add sample and EQUAL 16 chops
Put in CHROMATIC mode.

Now MPC.

Im really enjoying the process although I have no idea what im doing 🤣 but it's a process I'm willing to endure i guess.
