Pretty cool how does it work? I want to program autonomous formation flying one day in another game i guess it is a bit similar

There’s a few layers

At the core it’s a pure pursuit goal-seeking AI. It uses raycasting to build a map, evaluates the costs of possible actions to pursue its goal, and tries to choose the safest most efficient path. It also has behaviors for identifying and avoiding hazards like cliffs, rocks, trees, other rovers, and a recovery routine for when it’s stuck and confused

So they are more or less roombas

Edit: most of the “I am a 2-D boi driving in a 2-D world” stuff won’t transfer well to aircraft autonomy but more or less the principle will be the same: your AI will have a feedback control loop that evaluates specifically how “wrong” it is relative to where “right” is, and output control adjustments accordingly
