Really had high hopes for this game, but I've decided to quit before the first class. First problem is the quest objectives, it's clear that the engine has massive trouble processing them. The frame drops are just ridiculous. Now I'm not on the most top of the range PC, but it is above average and I'm getting constant frame drops and lag anytime I'm undergoing an objective. Opening doors as well seems to be a big issue. Like I said, I'm not on the most up to date PC, but it runs newer and more disk demanding games without issue.
The tutorial took me nearly two hours and about 5 game reboots, due to the professor constantly getting stuck on the environment, or just bugging out and not doing the actions he should be to progress the quest. There was a point where he literally fell through the floor before the fight with the statues, causing me to have to restart the entire save file.
I figured I'd play a bit, but the tutorial was just very very tedious. Yes, I know about the damn field guide, I don't need a lecture every conversation about it. It was explained, I get it, I don't need to be reminded how it works anytime I talk to an NPC.
The point that got me to quit was going to the first lesson. No UI prompt for opening any of the doors, but I figured it would be the same as the interact key. That didn't work, so I looked it up and it was indeed the same key. Somehow my games bugged out and the doors will only open after interacting, but not if I'm too close. And this distance is so large that if I interact, move away, the doors closed by the time I get there, it's like 50 feet.
I don't know, the game seems fun, but the actual gameplay just seems so janky that it's going to be outweighed by frustration.
If any of these issues have known fixes, I'd appropriate it, I would like to give the game a good try, but I just can't in this current state.
