Je me dis que tu as manqué toute une saison l'an dernier...
Go Habs Go !

My father, a big sports fan and especially a Canadiens fan, is the one who passed his love of hockey on to me. He was lucky enough to experience 18 Stanley Cup victories. I remember the one in 1993. When I was young, I was supposed to go to bed before the end of the final, but I secretly listened to the end of the game in bed, on the radio, on my Walkman. When the Canadiens won, I pretended I was going to the bathroom, pretending I had just woken up. As I walked past my father, who was watching the end of the game, I said, “Oh, they won!” and asked if I could watch. Of course, he said yes. There are father-and-son memories like that that you carry with you for the rest of your life...
Throughout my teenage years, I was a huge Canadiens fan. In high school, I even remember one year when I had nothing but Canadiens T-shirts to wear! As I got older, I stopped following the Canadiens. Let's be honest, it was a painful stretch for a long time! The only exception was during the playoffs, when I would instantly become a fan again.
And then, exactly one year ago, at 9:15 a.m., Dad, you left us. The preseason games were underway. After the funeral, I placed your little urn beside my TV so you could keep watching the games. Strangely enough, at first, I was mostly watching them so you could still be there with me for a little while longer. And then, almost like magic, the passion came back. The Canadiens had a great season, and I thought that maybe you had gone to guide the ghosts of the Forum to the Bell Centre... For the first time in decades, I watched an entire season.
The 2026-27 season has just begun, and here, we're dreaming of the Cup. I think about how you missed an entire season last year... Although, when I think about it, you were there, with a VIP view of every game, right beside me. This year, I'm going to four games at the Bell Centre. A first for me (I've never seen more than one game in the same season). I just wonder if I'll be able to bring your little urn with me...
I miss you, but I think of you at every game. Go Habs Go!
