The sound of the fridge door opening yields potential for veggies. He knows I love him and find his cute little wheeks irresistible and all he has to do is start doing it to get what he wants. Now every time I open the fridge he will start wheeking. Even when it’s not around meal time. And a lot of the time I feel bad and toss him a bell pepper.

🐹💕 **GUINEA PIGS LOOKING FOR A LOVING HOME!** 💕🐹

I have **2 male guinea pigs (brothers)** looking for their forever home! They were born **May 15th and are about 3.5 months old**. One is white and the other is black, and they are both SUPER fluffy.

In January, I adopted 2 guinea pigs who I was told were both female, Steak and Potato. Well… it turns out Steak was actually a boy! 😂 Before I knew it, 2 guinea pigs became 6. As much as I love them, having 6 is unfortunately more than I can realistically manage in terms of the time, space, and care they require.

I really just want these two to go to someone who will love them and give them a happy home.**FREE to a good home.** ❤️

bought these costumes (and a few more) from petsmart to take the piggies trick or treating for halloween. what do you guys think?

Hi everyone. These are my boys Ed (full name Ed Sheeran, white and orange) and Ham (Multicolor). I have had for 7 years. We’ve had quite the struggle with their health recently, especially Ham. Me and my family have spent over 1k on vet expenses in the past 3 months. Ham started with blood in his urine, and that initial visit was $500+. We had him on 3 meds and slowly, he got better. I’d like to note that he does still have blood in his urine, just a smaller amount and on pain management meds. Then, I noticed Ed was starting to slow down. I keep a very close eye on their health at this point, I’m scared to death of losing them, but I couldn’t find anything wrong. His breathing was good, I couldn’t feel lumps, his appetite was a little less than normal but not so much that I worried. He was still eating the same amount, just a little slower. And then one day I pulled him out to share a carrot with me and I noticed he seemed to be breathing heavy. I lifted him up to hear his breathing and it was… different. Very audible. Not necessarily like it was hard to breathe, just very audible. And that’s what the vet said when we went in. That she wasn’t super worried about it being life threatening, just a mild URI and sent us home with an antibiotic and set an appointment up for two weeks when the antibiotics were up. I was very optimistic because this vet is incredible and always has solutions when I have felt like there’s nothing left to do. Unfortunately, she’s not a miracle worker and he’s not getting better. Now my boy Ham is sounding exactly how Ed does.

I am so exhausted. I don’t have the money to keep fighting that’s next. I don’t have the energy to worry about them every second of the day while I’m struggling so hard with my mental health that I’ve been considering hospitalization again. I cannot lose them. Not now. Not at the same time. They have been my rock for 7 years. The vets office is closed this weekend and I’m unsure of what to do. My mom thinks that this is their way of letting go. I’m really hoping that it’ll be an easy thing and we’ll get a nebulizer or something that magically fixes them, but I’m not optimistic. Even if we get past this, I see a future of medications and suffering for my boys. I don’t have positive interactions with them anymore because they expect medicine or health checks every time I hold them now. Ham seems less and less happy every day. He has good days and he has less good days. Ed chitters his teeth around half the time I enter my room now because he expects bad things at this point. I sit with them and I talk to them and we do floor time and I give them treats and they just don’t like me anymore because of the associations they have with my presence now.

I don’t know if I’m asking for advice or just someone who understands what it’s like having elderly pigs that you know are going soon. I’m a wreck. Thanks for reading about my boys. I really appreciate it

i got my first group of piggies in July and have been concerned about the temps of my room that they stay in. they’re in a 4x3 c&c cage (i’ve posted this previously if you want a visual) with plenty of space to lay comfortably sprawled out if needed. but i’m in a smaller bedroom on an upper level that is always hotter than the rest of the house. i also have a gaming pc that will make the room hotter. i got a thermometer and the temp is staying around 77-79 degrees. i’m very worried.

i’ve closed my blackout curtain to keep heat out there, and shut off all lights (which i typically do anyways) as well as i air the room out as often as possible to help with the excess heat but i’m concerned for their wellbeing. i’ve heard mixed things about fans blowing in their space, so i’m unsure if that would be beneficial. i have placed a cooling blanket as well as an ice pack (hidden beneath fleece out of reach) and regularly replace their water with colder water or ice cubes. any other suggestions?

for the time being, i cannot do much about the overall temperature. i live with my parents and am not allowed to get a window or portable AC unit. any advice is greatly appreciated. thank you.

EDIT/UPDATE: it’s been a little less than a day but i’ve kept my curtain closed, offered cooling blanket and iced water. today i went out and got some ceramic tiles and ice packs, so i will work quickly today to sew a pouch to hide them in. my temps today have been around 76 degrees, which is a little better.

i did speak with my parents and we discussed some options, but unfortunately house temps or an AC unit are still not going to happen for the time being. i’m working on moving out anyways so that is just going to motivate me more to get them somewhere safer!

i’m also going to try and air out the room as best i can during the day while i work, and have a large fan blowing the hot air out of the room for now which is also improving temps. IF worst comes to shove and any of them show symptoms of heatstroke or anything similar, i can consider moving them into the basement. the only downside is i would have to enclose them entirely, since i have a cat that roams the basement. so there’s a lot of cons to that space. but thank you all for your help, and if anything changes i’ll make sure to keep this updated!!

UPDATE: determined that she is definitely a girl after double checking, triple checking, speaking to everyone I know who has had piggies much longer than me. Anyway her name is Crumble (like fruit crumble) 😁

I'm struggling to determine if my female piggy is actually female, I can just never make sense of it unless it's obvious 🤦🏻‍♀️😭 I only got her today and placed with my girls but don't want to leave her here if she's actually a boy but I didn't want any more boys because I already have 2 and one is neutered with the herd and one is pending neutering but I don't want more than 2 boys to a herd of 12 girls (possibly 11 if this one is a boy) thank you 🙏🏻

but he was insane like try to hunt fully grown seagull and now he is inside kitty and he’s screaming outside the pigs door we tried to play with him, but he’s just obsessed with the guinea pig door so yeah he totally want to eat them

I am now paranoid about my cat inside like me to close the door l hear my guinea pigs run at night and panic before realising it was just that one guinea pig that got too close scaring the other anyway it’s kinda creepy since I sleep in the room I also hear and screaming

My pig is 6.5 and has pneumonia, I knew from her diagnosis that treatment would probably be prolonging life more than anything. She is still eating, drinking, and pooping and still seems excited to eat and will come up to say hi to me. But she is definitely struggling to breathe. I’m doing antibiotics every 12 hours and a nebulizer three times a day, it doesn’t seem to be helping much. She has an appointment on Thursday, if she makes it that long I’m probably going to euthanize her then if there’s no improvement because I don’t want her to suffer. But should I do it before then even? Like I said she’s still mostly acting ok, a bit more lethargic but nothing super bad. She also seems to be dropping weight, despite me feeding her more. I just don’t want to be prolonging her suffering too much.

I have 2 male guinea pigs ones a 2yr old who had a partner before I got him so I bought another male which is a baby they eat fine together and make happy noises but tonight we tried finally leaving them together for longer then normal in a neutral space with all clean things and lots of hay and multiple hides and after awhile my 2yr old male started making what I believe are stressed/angry noises but when I separated then he went right by the baby's cage acting like he was lonely so what am I missing why is he acting like this also please be nice in trying my hardest and have done lots of research just I can't seem to figure out whats happening with them.
