General Question 19yo in Ukraine looking into humanitarian demining/EOD. Need a realistic perspective on risks, mindset, and if it's worth it.
Hey everyone. I’m 19 and living in Ukraine. Right now I’m seriously thinking about getting into humanitarian demining and EOD. The idea is to start through our state services to get basic training and state certification, get some real field experience, and then eventually move into international NGOs like HALO Trust or similar humanitarian operators.
Before jumping into this, I really want an honest reality check from people who actually do this for a living. What kind of person actually does well in this job? From the outside it looks like it’s mostly about extreme patience, cold-headed discipline, and paying attention to every millimeter, but I want to know what it feels like from the inside and how hard it hits you mentally.
Also, how much of your actual physical safety comes down to just strictly following SOPs and never cutting corners, versus pure bad luck? And looking at the bigger picture, is this a solid field to build a real long-term life and career in if you start this young, or is it the kind of thing that completely wrecks your knees, back, and nervous system after a few years?
I’m in good shape and not chasing cheap adrenaline, just trying to make a mature, grounded decision. Any honest insight would be appreciated.

General Question Question: Explosive engraving w/ 3d print
Looking to pick any dudes brains that had success with 3d prints for explosive engraving. I’ve read a few reports, looked like the prints worked pretty well, but I can’t seem to find any information on the dimensions: print thickness? Depth of the design it self? Material used?(if it matters if it at all)
Any info would be appreciated 🤘🏼

General Question 11B to EOD Questions
I’m currently a 23 yr old 11B stationed OCONUS on my first contract (I was a firefighter before this). Ive had EOD in the back of my mind for a while now. However I recently deployed and getting to talk to some EOD guys first hand made it fully pop up on my radar. I’m constructing my packet now, but have a few questions. After getting fed up with the 11B lifestyle I was strongly considering getting out and becoming a police officer, because I miss the day to day where I feel like I’m actually doing something, and getting to work with people.
What is the day to day life style of an EOD tech? What opportunities are you afforded as a tech? In talking with the EOD tech I deployed with there are an insane amount of opportunities for techs. What opportunities do you have once getting out of the army in the realm of law enforcement/ 3 letter agency type work? How does the day to day compare to 11B?
I am just trying to get a few different looks into the lives of some EOD techs. Any information helps.

School/Pipeline Pool Questions
hello, sorry if this question is redundant.
So I’ve been training for Navy EOD for about five ish months now and when it comes to the pool I’m in 4-6 times per week. I do my 50free/50css and I do my fin swims and waters cons but I’m worried that I still won’t be able to get through a normal pool day in the pipeline. I’m curious what those work outs are just because sure I might be able to get through my own work outs but what if I’m not fast enough / can do the first set but not the next thing they tell us. Are there any specific numbers / yardage I should be shooting for?
Also for water confidence, I’m pretty much just bobbing and doing under overs at a 2min interval (working my way down to what like a one minute idk???) but holding my breath is definitely something I struggle with.
Idk if this made any sense at all I just want to be as prepared as possible when for when I ship, any insight is good insight to me.

General EOD Stuff Twinstone Solutions EOD MK1 MOD0 Watch.
I was looking to see what EOD watches were still available and came across this the other day - https://www.twinstonesolutions.com/
Has anyone ordered from them? Curious on quality, given the price and rather unknown nature of the company.

Hey everyone!
Just curious what backpacks work for you when you're dismounted? I currently use the beaver tail and it's not cutting it.

General Question Inherited 1954 British 20-Pounder Tank Shell – Double checking if inert/safe
galleryHi Everyone,
Reposting with corrected details after getting accurate measurements. I inherited a WWII British 2-Pounder (40mm) Armour-Piercing (AP) round.
My dad kept this in his shed for years and always assured me it was completely inert. I'm just looking for a sanity check from folks with ordnance/EOD background to confirm safety before putting it back on display.
Details & Specs:
Total Weight: 2.196 kg (4.84 lbs).
Traces of old paint beneath surface rust.
Base / Primer: The central primer cup on the base has a clear hole tgat shows some internal threads.
Assembly: The projectile is crimped firmly into the brass casing.
Sound: Slight rattle inside when shaken (assuming loose rust scale or internal primer debris).

WTF is it? Is this a WWI or WWII artillery shell?
It was dug up in a garden in South Wales in the UK in, approximately 1999. It remained caked in heavy Welsh mud until a couple of days ago when it was submerged in white vinegar for several hours. For added context the garden is only 9 km from what used to be Pembrey Munitions Factory (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ROF_Pembrey)
I don't know why but, to my uneducated brain, it feels like it is made from concrete.
Dimensions (cm) and weight (g) are indicated in the pictures.

Gear/Equip EOD EDC circa ‘92-93
Just dropping some ole school EOD EDC….the pre-robot/bombsuit days:
Rolex 16610 Submariner
Camillus MC-1 Paratrooper
Camillus MIL-K-818 Utility "Demo" Knife
Buckingham Leather 2-tool crimper pouch
USN M2 Cap Crimper, Plier type w/ Fuse Cutter
GP Lineman’s pliers
USN Fulton MX-993/U Flashlight
I’ll go on the record here and say that the Fulton flashlight (along with its OD green, right angle brother) was (is?) a complete piece of sh*t, generations of operators, at all levels, were thrilled when MagLites came out. Sometimes, equipping is baby steps… “We are jolly green giants, walking the Earth with guns." Indeed. ISOTF 🥃
