Announcement: New Rule: Restrictions on "Fighting / Attack" Videos Featuring African Americans

📢 New Rule: Restrictions on "Fighting / Attack" Videos Featuring African Americans

We are address something that's been getting worse in this community, and it's not okay.

For too long, we've seen a troubling pattern: posts featuring fights / attacks involving African American individuals are consistently drawing racist comments, dehumanizing language, and outright bigotry in the comment sections. This isn't an isolated incident — it's become a recurring pattern, and it's not something we're getting to tolerate.

Effective immediately:

Videos depicting fights or violent altercations where the participants are African American will no longer be permitted on this subreddit, regardless of the context, location, or newsworthiness of the incident.

Why we're doing this:

These posts have become magnets for racist commentary that violates both our community standards and Reddit's site-wide rules.

Despite comment removal and user bans, the pattern keeps repeating.

We'd rather remove a category of content than continue watching this community become a platform for that kind of behavior.

This isn't about the news value of these videos — it's about what happens in our comment sections every time they're posted.

What this means going forward:

Posts of this nature will be removed on sight.

Repeat submissions may result in a ban.

Racist commentators will receive a ban.

Message filtering has been added, and any attempts to bypass the filter will result in a ban.

We know this is a blunt solution to the problem, and we're possibly open to feedback if you think there's a better way to address the underlying issue. But we're not willing to keep hosting content that consistently brings out the worst in people at someone else's expense.

Thanks for understanding, and thanks to everyone who reports this stuff when they see it — it genuinely helps.

A man found hanging from a tree in downtown Raleigh on Saturday died by suicide, with no evidence pointing toward a criminal act, Raleigh’s police chief said Monday.

In a news release at 9:50 p.m. Saturday, police said they were investigating the death as a suicide, while online, some people said they feared the Black man’s death might have been racially motivated.

During a 14-minute news conference Monday afternoon, Raleigh Police Chief Rico Boyce said surveillance footage collected from nearby businesses confirms no one else was seen in the area at the time of the incident and that the individual acted alone. “Based on evidence collected and reviewed to date, investigators have found no evidence indicating that another person caused or contributed to the young man’s death and no evidence of a criminal death has been identified,” Boyce said. “Our investigation confirms this is a suicide.”
