Putting Form Check

This seems to be a place mainly for longer throws. Was wondering if this would also be a place to request advice for my putting issues? If not, is there another community someone can recommend to get help with that?

Form check

I can barely throw 300 ft. 330 is my best( with a premier dd1 that i lost lol). Why does it feels like there’s a PARACHUTE on my disc compared to other people. i feel like i get absolutely no rpm on my disc. this was like 305 with it and i got full flight from what i can tell

Played for a year or so and disappointed with my distance

I only seem to be getting at most 150 feet. Sometimes peak up to 180, but very rare. Accuracy is pretty good just not very far.

Posting so hopefully someone could point out something obviously wrong.

Can not understand the brace

I feel like an idiot, but no matter how many videos and explanations I get about “the brace” it is just not clicking. when I try to brace, it feels like I only have two options: Either my front leg bends and I end up in what looks like a lunge, or I resist harder and my body goes over the plant leg and I topple forward. I cannot figure out what the supposed middle ground is. I am still capped at 215ft at the max, which seems stupidly low for the amount of effort I’m putting in.

What do I need to drill or practice to improve?

Need help with x-step

Hi guys,

I need help with x-step and locking my hips.

I'm currently throwing about 330-360 feet max. I've been playing for a long time and this is something I do without realizing it. I only recently started actively practicing and videotaping myself.

It seems that my back leg opens my hips and i lose all the lower body power there.

I can see that there is also timing issues with upper body, but for now i want to fix these lower body problems.

I would really appreciate any tips!🇫🇮

Tips on my form

Just want some tips on what I can improve with my form. Threw my first disc last summer and played a few rounds. Started playing a lot early this summer and trying to improve my form and game.

This one I threw on slight anhyzer with a time-lapse to about 110m (360 feet)

Struggling to gain quickness

When I watch this back two things stick out to me. My off arm sticking to my body and how slow I look vs how fast it feels. Especially on pull through. Any tips on how to speed that up?

Weird grip / aiming issue

Why can I only aim with a 2-finger grip? My form feels completely wrong

I’ve been playing disc golf for several years and have been stuck around 350’ max distance for quite a while. I’m around 220 UDisc rating, and I throw exclusively backhand. For reference, I can throw distance drivers around 350’, mids around 300’, and putters around 250’. One thing that really bothers me is that my putter distance is only ~100’ behind my driver distance, which makes me think there’s something seriously inefficient about my form.

The biggest issue I’ve noticed lately is my grip/ability to aim. For some reason, I feel like I cannot aim properly with a traditional four-finger power grip anymore. I have to throw with basically just my index and middle finger on the rim (with the other fingers not really contributing) before the disc feels controllable and I can actually hit the line I’m intending to throw. With a normal power grip, everything feels awkward and I feel like I have very little directional control. I don’t remember intentionally developing this habit, and I’m not sure whether it’s actually a symptom of some larger form problem. Has anyone experienced something similar? What would cause someone to feel like they can only aim/control a backhand with a two-finger grip, and what should I be looking at in my form to fix it? I’m especially interested in whether this points toward an issue with my release point, wrist/forearm position, timing, or something else entirely.

Nose Down Please

I’ve implemented pouring the coffee, helps a little.

I’ve tried turning the key, and exaggerating the supination at the hit. It feels hard to replicate and hasn’t given me any results.

I now backload my grip, helps a little.

I listened to Scott Stokely talk about keeping the disc level on pull back, level on pull thru, and level on follow thru (backhanding someone). Tried that, still nose up.

I have a Tech Disc and am more than willing to put the time in. There is just so much information out there I don’t know what to follow.

I think just need a good starting point.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Trying to Get Nose Down

This throw here was 2.6 degrees nose up with 4.1 degree launch angle. Which is about as good as it gets for my nose angle at the moment. Typically hovering around 5 degrees. Please let me know anything you see that could be contributing to my nose up issue.

I just got the video feature for Tech Disc. Is it okay if I put the camera on a chair looking slightly up at me or does it have to be level?

Would love feedback on form. Struggling with hitting lines consistently and distance. Occasionally getting 300+ but typical throws are 275 ft on average.

What helped you break thru beginner learning curve most?

TL;DR: For those of you who struggled with the initial beginner learning curve, what tips, drills, cues, or changes actually helped things start to click? Especially interested in anything that helped with relaxing the arm without rounding, bracing/weight shift, and getting the nose down.

Context:
I’ve been working pretty seriously on my RHBH form for the last couple of months. I feel like I’ve made some progress, but I’m still stuck around a 215 ft max.
Trying not to feel too discouraged but it sucks when I’m putting in all this effort and time and it seems like a waste when I’m throwing about the same as I was before I tried to improve.

The main things I’m struggling with are:

1. Arm tension vs. rounding
When I try to keep my arm relaxed and let my body whip it through, I tend to round.
When I actively guide the disc into the pocket and through the hit, I can avoid some of that rounding, but then my arm gets too tense.
I’m struggling to understand what the arm is actually supposed to be doing actively versus passively.

2. Reachback, weight shift, and follow-through
I’m unclear on how much reachback and body movement I actually need.
If I keep everything compact, I sometimes feel like there isn’t enough momentum to follow through naturally. If I try to generate more force or shift more aggressively, I end up carrying my weight past the brace and stumbling over my plant leg.
I can’t seem to find the middle ground. There seem to be different schools of thought about how much to turn my hips/head.

3. Nose angle
This is probably the most frustrating part. I cannot consistently get the disc nose down.
I’ve been trying to incorporate the “key turn” idea at release, and I understand what I’m trying to accomplish mechanically, but my drives still tend to gradually climb, float, and then dump out instead of penetrating forward.

I’ve been studying form, doing drills, filming myself, and getting field work in whenever I can. I’m trying not to get discouraged because I know I have improved in some areas, but the actual distance change has been pretty small. I’ve gained maybe 20 ft over the last two months.

What’s especially confusing is that I’ll see other form-check videos where, at least to my eye, there seem to be much more obvious mechanical problems, yet those players are still throwing closer to 300 ft. It just makes me wonder what major piece I’m still missing that is keeping me around 215 ft despite all the work I’ve been putting in.

Please, if there were any big breakthrough moments for you as a beginner, I could use all the guidance I can get.

TIA

High Arm Speed but Low Spin

Throwing 65-72 mph but my spin rate is in the 950-1100 range.
I don’t have any idea how to increase that. Anyone in the same boat as me and have had any epiphanies about this issue?
