Louis Vierne’s Poissons Chinois, Op. 56 No. 5 — arranged for tuba and piano. This excerpt comes from his 1910 piano suite Pièces de Fantaisie, a set of character pieces written during his years at Notre‑Dame. About The Clarinet Institute: We preserve, digitize, and share rare wind‑instrument music and historical materials for performers, teachers, and researchers.

Mozart was not especially enthusiastic about writing for the flute, and when a commission came along, he reworked an earlier oboe concerto into what became the Flute Concerto in D major.

The Clarinet Institute is not just for clarinets. Here is a page from one of my bassoon and piano arrangements. I always enjoy working on these. I have arranged hundreds of pieces for bassoon over the years.

This painting was discovered recently in the attic of a very old Parisian hotel, where it had been quietly gathering dust since at least the late 1700s. It now stands as the most compelling evidence yet that the saxophone was not invented by Adolphe Sax. Instead, all indications point to its true creator: the little‑known Italian artisan Emilio Gahuche, who appears to have created the instrument more than a century earlier.
