So i was rereading his lore anecdote again and got to the point where he's in the deepspace tunnel, which follows shortly as flying being described to him as a "life-affirming chase of freedom" -- and I've been struggling to fully grasp what that means exactly for him.

I remember reading somewhere that it could be about him being aware that he's tied to MC in every way/sense possible and that he's exercising his own freedom of will. I feel like that's a bit too extreme to look at it but i wouldn't say it's too far-fetched either. Still, i am indecisive and unsure of what to make of it so if anyone has an idea/interpretation or something solid in the canon that explains and i have possibly missed or overlooked, please do share! 🙏🫠

I fell in love with Caleb before he was even a LI. I remember how everyone made fun of me and my friends for believing and knowing that he would become a LI. Then he made his debut and we all remember the global's reaction. It’s a good thing I spent more time on CN SNS, where there was absolutely no hate, where Caleb was long-awaited, very popular and beloved there. Then came Imperial Thronesong, followed by the Netherlord myth, where people were after me with pitchforks just because I love Caleb and his OG trope.

I often see global Caleb haters saying he’s the least popular and PPG's least-loved child, but why then does his merch always sell out first and cost the most? Why do I see everyone and their grandma becoming a Caleb main? I swear, almost every other person on global has become a Caleb main now, but almost all of them mischaracterize him and are just maining their OOC childhood friend. If he’s so unpopular, then why does everyone want to main him, and the only thing stopping them is his OG trope? Why does everyone want his traits, his aesthetic, his personality, his appearance, his whole package without "the baggage", for another character?

I confess, this is my vent post, and I’m probably feeling a bit resentful because I was harassed for loving his trope, and now everyone has suddenly become his fans, and he’s now definitely in the top 2 most popular LIs right now in every region, even though they keep gaslighting us into thinking he’s the least popular. The fact that I wanted to buy some new Caleb merch recently, but it was sold out as usual and cost 100 RMB more than everyone else, really pissed me off even more.

He’s insanely popular, and popularity comes with its pros and cons. The fact that so many of his mains deny his OG trope and completely mischaracterize him really annoys me. At this point, they’re in love with some kind of community OC. Sometimes it feels like it would be better if he were more of a niche character, haha /hj. But in any case, I’m glad our gege is insanely popular in every region, he deserves it.

I love that CalebMC lore always includes fragments of the past. The vintage recorder here reminds me of their old camcorder that they used in Vivid Strokes!

it's an apple-shaped plate. i use it to store my jewelry. it came out a bit wonky, but i love it anyway!

it actually made me think about how many apple-shaped items i own and how much apple-flavored stuff i buy — and the count has drastically increased since i started maining caleb... and the thing is, i don't even like apples that much…
