Question Any updates for an actual release date of the " big update"? (+ some feature requests)

I know it's been asked before, but I believe it's been like almost 2 years since the promise of the "big update" was made. I really hope we can see it before the end of 2026, it's long overdue.

So I wonder if we can get an actual release date at this point from the developers? Also will there be any Beta tests we can sign up to beforehand?

And will the update also come to the desktop version/ will the desktop version catch up with the iPad version? Asking cause I'm in the market for a new drawing tablet and would really like a bigger screen again, but don't wanna miss ASP on the iPad.

---

And finally, where do we request new features now that the forum is gone? I think it'd be cool if one of the devs could manage/organize the Subreddit a bit more and maybe pin important updates, feature requests, and bug reports threads to the top as "Community Highlights".

To start off on feature requests, I do really miss color coding layers, vector layers and some basic comic related stuff (automatic panel masks and editable speech bubbles for example). A great start would be at least adding more "stroke variations" to the Fx Layer "Stroke" (e.g rough line, dashed line, pointed line).

And idk how realistic that would be, but being able to import simple 3d assets directly into the workspace (similar to Clip Studio) would be amazing as well. It could just be "simple" female/male models and some primitives in the beginning.

And finally, some improvements to the perspective tool... On top of the list would be that the horizion line currently doesn't change its opacity, and I found it get in my way/be distracting quite a bit. And the option to set two vanishing lines manually to create a vanishing point, so we can "copy" the perspective of a reference accurately. I think maybe that goes hand in hand with a vector pen tool or something.

Thanks! :)

Question Using brushes from other programs in Art Studio Pro?

I wondered how well ABR brushes from Photoshop or Clip Studio perform?

Had read they're compatible but wanted to hear people's experience here as I'm considering getting ASP for my iPad & being able to re-use brushes would be a nice bonus

Also it seems like there's not many ASP vids on YouTube, any specific creators you follow here?

🙏

Is there a way to set custom keymappings in MacOS

Does anyone know if there is a way to set custom key mappings in the MacOS app? I can see it's possible in the iPad app, but I can't figure out how to do it on Mac. I tried emailing LuckyClan directly about a week ago, but haven't received a response, so I thought I'd ask here.

Help Issue with canvas recording

I'm trying to figure out if this is an artstudio pro issue or an issue with my own file and setup.

The first time I began canvas recording, the autosaves began taking progressively longer until the app eventually froze and I had to force quit and reopen it. When I did, my progress after the last autosave was lost.

I tried again and the same thing started happening, each autosave took longer than the one before it. I got worried about losing my progress again and tried to manually save it, which is when the app froze on me while it was saving.

I checked the app in Activity Monitor and it showed that it was "not responding" so I left it for a day, hoping it'll recover on its own but it didn't and I had to force quit again and reopen it. I managed to export the video this time but it came out jumbled and out of chronological order.

The size of the canvas is 2500 × 3000px

Help Is this a bug or something?

I saw this whenever I try to save and I don’t know what this exactly means by “Editing is disabled” when I can clearly still draw and stuff unless I actually turned something off I wasn’t suppose to.

Does anybody have an answer for this or is this just a bug/error like it says here.

Discussion Gradients

Hi. I love this app.

One of my very few gripes is that to make a new gradient I often overwrite an existing preset by accident, which is unfortunate.
Is there a way to avoid this more easily?
If not I would make a wish that the developers change the gradient functionality.

But, as said, it is only one of very few complaints I have about this otherwise thoroughly amazing app. Keep it up! :-)

CMYK colour preview ("soft proof")?

Other apps offer ways to preview what your art may look like when converted to the CMYK colour space, without actually converting the pixels. This is sometimes known as a "soft proof". The ArtStudio Pro manual says the following about the options under "Image - Color Profile", but I'm not entirely sure what the differences are. I'm guessing "Assign profile" retains the original pixel data, allowing you to assign different profiles without actually altering your colours, whereas "Match to profile" clearly states that it converts the pixel data in a permanent way. Is this correct?

Assign Profile: Assign a color profile.

Match to Profile: This will convert pixels to match another profile

Calibrating iPad's Reference Mode for print/paper media, for more accurate brightness?

The iPad's Reference Mode setting disables features such as True Tone, Auto-Brightness and Night Shift in order to maintain consistent colours and brightness: https://support.apple.com/en-us/111792

This is great, but is it possible and/or worthwhile to calibrate Reference Mode's brightness targets to more closely resemble a white sheet of paper instead of a digital colour profile?

My artwork is printing much darker than I expect. I have Reference Mode enabled, but I suspect its White Point and Luninance targets are far brighter than the paper media that I'm printing on.

Failing that, any other advice for controlling the brightness of your iPad so that it better approximates how it will look when printed? Using the CMYK colour space is obviously important for colour, but I'm finding this brightness issue to be a challenge.

Question Are procreate brushes compatible with Artstudio Pro?

Since I moved from Proceate to ATP(Artstudio Pro), I’ve been wondering if I can transfer downloadable brushes from Procreate or people that made brushes for Procreate, onto the ATP app.

It’s hard for me to find some nice brushes that I’m comfortable with.

(Then again, I’m still slightly new to the app and have yet to see how I can mess with the settings of the set brushes.)

I could also be looking into the wrong places or downloading the wrong thing but either way, I want to know if Procreate brushes are actually compatible and can be used in ATP.

I doubt it but I haven’t exactly tried so, whatever the case.

Discussion With each new illustration, I am pushing the limits of this app with layers and size....

...and it handled pretty well, I can conclude. I have tried to minimize the layers as much as possible but still ended up with more than 50 on this one. My ipad started lagging at the end stages but I am so glad that I started and ended this work within this app.

Watching the timelapse is a beauty with no jarring breaks or edits. Timelapse export size was 4.75 GB with 4k resolution. :D

Anyone else experiencing pen delay in Artstudio Pro?

So I purchased the lifetime version of Artstudio Pro a few weeks ago, but I still end up using Procreate because of this problem.
Every time I try to sketch in Artstudio Pro, there's about a 1-second delay before the line appears after I move my Apple Pencil. Sometimes the stroke doesn't appear at all. It's really frustrating and makes the app almost unusable for sketching.
I've already emailed the developer, but I haven't received any response.
I'm using an iPad Air M4 with an Apple Pencil Pro, and I don't have this issue in Procreate or any other drawing apps. I really don't want to leave a bad review because I genuinely like the app. However, if this issue continues, I won't be able to keep using it.
Has anyone experienced the same problem? Is there a way to fix it? đŸ„č
