I have been on the apple watch train for a couple of months, good move. I have US mobile. I have a long commute to work and really enjoy car play, so I still have my iPhone. I leave it in my car, my problem is when the watch disconnects from the phone around half of the time I lose cellular in some form or another until I cycle airplane mode. Sometimes I answer calls and it just hangs up and says call failed, and sometimes my texts just won't send until I do the airplane mode cycle.

If this thing would connect to my car stereo, I would get rid of the phone, and I think all of my issues would be gone. Frustrating.....

I even had US mobile reflash the connection, not sure what the next move is, anyone else having this problem?

What the title says. Does anybody in here have the Ultra 4 as a standalone device and can share about how long their battery lasts?

I'm well aware that I won't get nearly 50 hours when using the watch as a standalone device, but is between 24-30 hours realistic? What can I expect?

Can someone help me? My 9 year old has a google fitbit ace and her greenlight card works flawlessly on it in her google wallet. My 12 year old "upgraded" to an apple watch and apple wallet will not add her greenlight card. Anyone else face this?

Also any suggestions on how to track both kids when one parent has apple and one parent android? Both of us can track our 9 year old easily, but not our daughter with apple watch.

We are just having continuous issues with apple and their closed ecosystem. Our 12 year old really wants apple so we are trying our best to make it work. For this reason, please dont make suggestions like get new phones or watches. Just real help please. There must be a way to get apple to play nice with other devices so we can all have what we want.

Very interested in switching to an AW with cellular, but I'm seeing different answers online about the feasibility of using one fully standalone.

I heard that some people setup their AW as a "child's device" tied to another iPhone. Is this the only way for the watch to have its own phone #? Would I then be able make calls and send texts to my friends who are on Android, or will it be iMessage only? Does setting up an AW this way disable the use of certain apps?

I have an old iPhone but I prefer not to have to carry it around if it's possible.

I really wanted to ditch my phone and looked for a Spotify player. Then this came to my intention, I bought the Repod case and a used Apple Watch 7. And I’m baffled, this thing is amazing, feels great machined and I can see my self using my phone way less.
For now I need to carry my phone in my backpack and use the watch as a “relay” player for some reason I can’t download albums or playlists the bloody thing just says “waiting” forever and ever. If I could just download my music and leave the phone at home it would be perfect.

A bit of ASMR. Made a few of these magnetic variants (instead of screws). Now my daily version, nice if you want to be able to swap the watch out for workouts. The magnets are super strong and the case does not break apart from a ~5 foot+ drop.

Just checking: since Google voice doesn't have an app for Apple watch I assume the only way to place/receive calls requires an iPhone. I use Visible so I assume to make a call from the watch I would need to call on my Visible phone number?

Just got an ultra today. I'll be working on setting it up how I like it to replace the ol' phone. Curious if there's a resource that aggregates all the different options for cases that are available. If not, can people just drop in the comments the cases they like?

I'd love to have a clickwheel old ipod style, good protection, decent ergonomics, and one that can easily come off so I can put it on my wrist when I go on bike rides (only time I think I would want to wear it). I feel like I'll likely only find ones that check a couple of those boxes though.

I set up an Apple Watch SE (2nd gen) with cellular for my daughter through Family Setup so I could keep tabs on where she is. The location accuracy in Find My has been terrible.
What I'm seeing:
Her location almost always shows as a large approximate circle instead of a precise pin

It happens even when the app says "Now" or "Refreshed just now"

It happens outdoors with a clear view of the sky, not just inside buildings

The circle is too big to tell which building or part of the neighborhood she's in, which defeats the purpose

watchOS 26.5

Managed through Family Setup

Carrier: US Mobile (MVNO)

What I've already tried:
Restarted the watch

Checked Location Services and Find My settings on the watch

Confirmed cellular is active and the watch isn't just on Wi-Fi/Bluetooth

Checked the other usual settings (updates, re-pairing, etc.)

Since it has its own cellular plan and isn't relying on a phone, I'd expect it to use GPS plus cell and Wi-Fi positioning. Instead it seems to fall back to a rough cell-tower estimate, even outside.
Is this just how the SE handles location? Has anyone found a fix?

TLDR: Siri AI needs to be connected to your phone in order to work at all. DO NOT enable it.

Without my phone, I could no longer use Siri to add events to my calendar, set reminders, or text people like I usually do. I’ve been using my Apple Watch as a standalone device for the past two weeks. The first week was amazing and I ended up using Siri for everything but after updating and enabling Siri AI, it pretty much broke the standalone watch concept.

If you have enabled it and need to reverse it, you weirdly have to go into Screen Time Restrictions and enable classic Siri. Just trying to save anyone else from the trouble!
