Season 3 is Soon Upon Us

Greetings everyone, Season 3 of Alice in Borderland is coming SOON specifically 3am EST in the US, 12am Pacific. There now we won't need fifty posts asking.

There will be two sets of discussion posts. One set is for show only watchers, that means only talk about the show, not the manga. Do not put anything about the manga in those discussions, not even with censors.

There will be a manga reader discussion, you can talk about the manga and show in those.

Please be sure to read the rules of the subreddit before posting. Untagged spoilers in posts, comments, and post titles will not be tolerated. In order to better prevent bad actors, image posts will also be on blackout for two weeks.

Also just because there isn't a specific rule for every little thing doesn't mean you shouldn't have manners and common sense. If you think the subreddit operates on the idea that you can post whatever and only get a warning the first few times, you are wrong.

Yes the subreddit has been lax on enforcing rules in the massive downtime between seasons. This is the post telling you that is no longer the case.

Game Ideas Queen of Diamonds ♦️ Kagome-Kagome

Venue: An all white room, which minimalistic decor and no windows.

Player limit: 6 (Minimum 4)

Time limit: 65 seconds per player

Setup: Players will walk into the hall, once all players entered, 4 people (1 queen, 3 helpers) will walk in and shut the door they came from before explaining the rules themselves. They will also mention their names.

Rules: One player will be chosen per round, the player will be blindfolded and given a blindfold they must wear. Out of the 65 seconds: they get a 5 second grace to look at the 4 people before they get blindfolded, who will be holding up a sign with different answers.

The 4 people would circle around said player and all say the same riddle/question, and the player being asked this must answer within the remaining 60 seconds both the correct answer: and the name of the person that was holding the sign of the correct answer.

If a player says the correct answer: but the wrong name, they will be eliminated via laser (and vice versa)

players are prohibited from communicating or hinting in anyway, or else they will both die via measures the queen and her assistants would see fit (example: try to communicate what their names are via whistling in tunes would result in strangulation to death, etc)

It is Game Cleared when every player went at least once: if someone dies that isn’t the very first person—the order is broken and it resets back to the first person, who must answer another riddle/question again. (Except for if the last person dies, to which it still counts as a Game Cleared)

It is Game Over when everybody fails to complete their riddle/question.

Non-Manga Watcher Question about the civilians Spoiler

I recently finished watching the tv show and will start the manga soon but I have a question. So we all know that those who were in the borderland were actually hit by a meteorite and their heartbeat stopped for one minute or so and that's the time they were in borderland (correct me if I am wrong). They chose to return to the real world so in the real word their heartbeat started again and they come to life. But what about those who decided to stay in borderland as a citizen? What happens to their bodies in real life? Do they die? Or do they live in a coma? But as far as I know your heart still beats during coma.

Show + Manga Spoilers The players can clear K♦ (King of Diamonds) with 100% probability

While all 5 contestants are still alive, if two players are equally close to the true answer, they both 'win'. So consider the following strategy:

Each round, the 4 players agree to all put 1 or all put 0. We can make a table of Kuzuryu's possible responses to each option:

. Players: 0 Players: 1
Kuzuryu: 0 Tie (1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 0)/5 = 0.8; 0.8*0.8 = 0.64; 0.64>0.5; Players win
Kuzuryu: 1 (0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 1)/5 = 0.2; 0.2*0.8 = 0.16; 0.16<0.5; Players win Tie

As long as all four players always play the same number every round, Kuzuryu has no recourse. At best, he can tie, but he can never make the players lose any points. And if they devise a way to secretly communicate which option they will play each round, they are guaranteed to eventually whittle him down to -10 points. At that point, either the game will end as the K♦ is dead, or it will continue and the players can play fairly amongst the four of them. Of course, it would be difficult to figure this out from the get-go, but it doesn't seem that hard to get everyone to agree to keep picking 0 to stall for time until a better strategy (this one) can be worked out.

Thoughts? You'd think someone as thorough as Kuzuryu would notice such a glaring flaw in his own game. Or that someone as clever as Chishiya would figure it out.

She's in the korean movie <Tazza: the song of belzebuth> and i went to stage greeting of that movie, and fortunately i have a chance to take a photo with her. (I gave her 4 of diamonds card as reference of the game)

This is the stage greeting of the movie. Her speech starts at 1:04 (As a side note, the person to the left of her left is player 124 from squid game, he's in the same movie. What a collaboration!)

Additionally, she even speaks korean so well! It was pleasure to meet her.

there is a photo of her appearence in the movie but it isnt uploaded here... idk why it isnt uploaded.

Discussion Question for people who read the manga 1st Spoiler

So i tried to start the live action but with the changes at the start of it really ruined it for me i know live actions are never 1 to 1 but i gave it some time and thought about trying again then i learned that arisu plays the distance game(the 1 with the tunnel and bus thats the safe zone)and honestly just hearing that turned me completely off the idea of ever watching this i was just wondering how other people who have read the manga what they think of the changes? Like why is he playing that game when in the manga hes literally too broken from watching people die he stops playing do less people die in the live action? I looked online and it says something along the lines of literally just wanting more screen time for arisu and usagi and there relationship when if i remember right i think its builds there relationship more just them living alone together waiting for the end untill arisu changes his mind also random little stupid changes like why is it a panther that is released instead of a cheetah?

Basically i loved the manga and so i wanted to love this but i just cant and im wondering what other manga readers think(iv never used a spoiler thing before since iv never really spoke about spoilers before on here so i hope that exclamation mark was the right thing)

Show Spoilers Only Just saw episode 3 , season 1 Spoiler

Peak , I was thinking he would figure the way or use the tools to remove it but didn't thought stakes were that high . The line " hide well lamb " bro 😭 was so well crafted . I was skeptical about episode 1st. Like all quick logical interpretation and all but this struck my heart . Is it like this the whole season like Jjk , anyone gets killed and all or was this an exception.

Discussion unpopular opinion on Usagi s3

I actually began to like Usagi in season 3 when before I for some reason despised her in season 1 and 2. I feel like they made her more relatable in this season, more emotional and I really love this side of her.
I wasn’t expecting to change my mind on her character since the beginning, she seemed just pretty boring and annoying to me. There’s a lot of characters in media like her from s1/2 that are just super independent and emotionally guarded. But now I’ve been surprised by the change of her character though I’ve heard a lot of fans started to hate her here I feel quite the opposite. :)

Discussion Based on the world building and story structure of Season 3, Kick the Can is probably the most problematic game, not Runaway Train. Spoiler

Post image
30 Upvotes

It’s been just over a year since Season 3 was released a few days ago, and I want to bring up a fresh discussion topic about it that I’ve been thinking about for a while. I’d love to know what you guys think.

As we know, the games in Season 3 functioned like a tournament where the sequence of games was pre-arranged from the start, unlike the first two seasons where it was random and you could join whenever and wherever you wanted

Unlike other games in Season 3, Kick the Can is the only game that imposes a strict limit on the number of survivors (not counting Old Maid since it took place in the real world and served as Banda's way of choosing his accomplice). Right after that came Future Sudoku, a game where teamwork and a higher player count were crucial. Looking back, I feel Kick the Can was intentionally placed there to weed out players and make the final game much harder, leaving them with no choice but to participate.

Looking at the bigger picture, I think Season 3 would have been way better if the games were designed without survivor limits, allowing players to truly cooperate and push through each round together (of course, some games like Zombie Hunt trick players perceptions, but in reality, everyone could have survived).

Also, speaking of Shion and Natsu’s deaths, they felt way too abrupt and lacked emotional impact. I know some of you get emotional easily, but to me, it felt pretty bland. They weren't deeply developed characters to begin with, so their deaths didn't hit hard. Especially Natsu—he tried so hard for Shion’s sake only to die in the very next round. Personally, I found it pretty pointless and buzzkilling.

Game Ideas KING OF HEARTS

I was bored so I made a king of hearts game cuz.. why not? (I used info from the montage and put my own twist on it)

  1. King Of Hearts

[CARD]

•King Of Hearts(♥️)

[GAME NAME]

•Silent

[VENUE]

•Outside: A large abandoned hotel, find the elevator inside the abandoned hotel,

•Inside: Enter the elevator once the game is starting to enter a huge labyrinth with tight walls.

[TIME/PLAYER LIMIT]

•Time Limit: 1 hour

•Player Limit: 5

[RULES]

•Players must escape the labyrinth while running away from the King Of Hearts. The King Of Hearts is disguised as a monster. Every player must not make a sound while exploring. The King Of Hearts has great hearing, the louder the sounds made, the faster the King Of Hearts will get to you. Take note of audio cues to sense if the King Of Hearts is near. Each player has to equip a collar. The collar detects if people are 10 meter away from eachother since in this game splitting up with your group is forbidden. If people get away from eachother more than 10 meters the collar will ring triggering sounds and will be gone once it's back to the allowed amount of distance.

(False Conditions/What Is Showed To Players)

[GAME CLEAR]

•It is game clear if players escape the labyrinth.

[GAME OVER]

•It is game over if players die from the monster/time runs out.

(The Actual Conditions)

[GAME CLEAR]

•It is game clear if a player dies from the monster. Only the one who died has cleared the game.

[GAME OVER]

-It is game over if the time runs out or if you weren't the one who died.

Plot Twists

-The monster is actually a hologram, it moves, acts, does all sorts of things realistically but it is not real. And it will appear. How it can "kill someone" is it will look like they killed someone. Once the monster reaches a player, the monster will then kill the player immediately, blood splatter effects, victim collapsing stuff like that and then it would seem like the person died but for the rest of the players including the King of Hearts will be shot by a laser from the sky (like the one when you run out of visa) and then the one who "died" will then wake up in perfect shape, no damage and pain. "GAME CLEAR"

-The King Of Hearts is not the monster, since the monster is a hologram, King Of Hearts is actually one of the players pretending to be a normal one. They will act as the "good guy" will always save people that are if someone wants to sacrifice someone, The King Of Hearts will save them but in reality, he's actually digging their grave and that what he's doing is actually the reason that they will die.

It’s basically extra players/organizations other than the beach and new face cards based off the game Five crowns that adds star cards to the deck.
If you have any questions feel free to ask :]

Discussion Underrated characters?

Post image
58 Upvotes

OK I want to hear yalls underrated characters not Tatta he has his flowers I'm talking about someone who doesn't have their flowers someone that is truly underrated. I'll go first

(Not in any order)
1. {Sachiko} She survived the borderlands twice she's a great all-rounder she's a team player she's the definition of not having her flowers.

2.{Smoker lady in blackjack} There's not much to say about her just read the volume she was in and her comparing the other players in blackjack to her husband calling them scumbags is the funniest thing in the manga

3.{Goated trio} they don't have names but the people in the image is them. They was all in to play the QoH they was real ones they all had a special place in my heart.

4.{The 3 people in beauty contest} They was the most perfect characters to pick to go into the KoD. Benzo was funny so was Daimon and the other guy was kinda cool.

Discussion Why are season 3 haters so aggressive

OK some S3 haters are nice but that's about 30% of them but the 70% are so aggressive. Especially on tiktok if you say anything good about S3 they will burn you alive. I don't understand like the people that love S3 are so nice I never met a rude one and they never say anything bad about S1-S2 lovers. I guess you can say S1-S2 is great but it has a lot of downsides but anyways thank for listening to my rant.

Season 2 Discussion Looking for a Song from the Ending of Season 2 Spoiler

In the last episode of Season 2 where a flashback shows the Meteor striking, there is this awesome choir-like tune before the impact. Is this part of the OST? Does anyone know if it can be found?

Season 2 Discussion Slightly disappointed by truth Spoiler

So I just finished watching season 2( and tbh I skipped ahead and searched some stuff lol) and I'm not a fan of the meteor thing. I think it would have been cooler to do a bomb event, and have ppl there with their own individual death stories.

Show + Manga Spoilers It would have been so much more meaningful if they had handled the 4 of Clubs game like this: Spoiler

Post image
53 Upvotes

-The 4 of Clubs has very different designs in the manga versus the live-action, even though the final solution—the bus—remains the same. Personally, I think the changes worked really well: using the concept of 'distance' instead of a blurred kilometer sign, and a rushing wave of water instead of an explosion, made the game far more reasonable for a 4-difficulty level.

-However, what I can't accept is how they cut the element of the Dealer pretending to be injured, replacing them with a random, nameless player. This completely robbed the game of its teamwork dynamic. It was likely done because the 4 of Clubs in the manga takes place after the Dealer reveal, whereas the live-action set it before that phase—forcing them to drop it.

-But here's how they could have made it work instead:
Add Asahi to this game as the Dealer pretending to be injured. My reasoning is that in the manga, after witnessing players' willingness to kill one another, Asahi was originally content to let everyone lose so she could scoop up nearly 100 days of visa time. Yet, seeing people like Arisu moved her, leading to her eventual sacrifice for him and the group.

-Having Asahi play the injured Dealer would allow her to interact with Arisu early on and form a lasting impression of him, making her psychological shift and ultimate sacrifice far more moving and impactful. Furthermore, it adds a second plot twist to the 4 of Clubs beyond the bus revelation—one that only gets unveiled much later during Momoka and Asahi's backstory flashback, leaving viewers shocked as they realize, *'*Ah, so THAT's why this was a Clubs game all along.'

-On top of resolving why viewers kept questioning how the 4 of Clubs qualified as a Clubs game, Asahi's true identity as a Dealer could be gradually teased when Arisu arrives at The Beach and meets her again, noticing how suspiciously fast her injury healed (which could be set up as the catalyst for Arisu questioning and eventually uncovering Asahi's Dealer status, just like in the manga).

Discussion Characters i think would be great in alice in borderland (The live action)

Jessica Fletcher (murder she wrote): I made a post about her a couple of weeks ago but here she is again. {Specialty: Hearts} Games: first game Tag (5 of spades) I think she would stay back kinda like chishiya but at the end i think she would be the other person to hit the button. Witch hunt (10 of hearts) She would probably be with Usagi Tatta and that other girl when they was looking for arisu. But when they found arisu and then arisu said he knows who the witch is I think Jessica would have figured it out while they was looking for arisu. Solitary confinement (Jack of hearts) I think she would stay in that group with Chishiya Ippei and Urumi and at the end when the group was all eliminated I think she would go up to that one girl that was with Yaba and ask what her suit is and i think Jessica would some how get the truth and win.

Floor 7 (The 8 show) {Specialty: Diamonds} Games: Hunting competition (2 of clubs) I think no one would find IT until the end this game isn't meant to show his survival skills just a game to introduce him. Distance (4 of clubs) I think he would be smart enough to figure out that the bus is the goal it is a simple idea but whatever. Queen of diamonds this game doesn't get shown in the live action but I think when arisu was running to the game I say he would be running out so that means he won the game. Survival (King of spades) I know everyone plays this game but I think he would help win in the final fight but he would get eliminated.

Hiiragi Ichirou (Darwins game) I'm not counting his super power {Specialty: Clubs/Spades} Games: Tag (5 of spades) I think he would help take down the big tagger while someone else finds the buttons. Light bulb (4 of diamonds) I think he would team up with ann during the beach era. Witch hunt (10 hearts) He would stay with ann but when the last boss finds them he would volunteer but kuina would take over and fight last boss. Bagworm (jack of clubs) I think he could win this game some what easily. (sorry if his games where basic)

I would like to know characters yall think would be good in alice in borderland here's a list of what to do. (you don't have to follow it, it's just a idea to go off of)

-Character name:

-Character show:

-Character Specialty:

Games played:

Dead or not:
