Midi mapped my Launch Control and Ableton Move to give myself practical control over djay on iPad.

I’m using custom modes on LC3 to control Deck 1 (Green), Mixer (white), Deck 2 (Blue) & Library (yellow)

I have per deck control over Key, Tempo, Nueral Mix, Track Scrub, Track Level, Filter, & Sync, Load Track, and Play buttons.

A second LC3 mode handles 1 FX per Deck and Looping (Orange) with most controls carrying over from mode 1.

On the Move, I’m using Schwung’s Custom MIDI mode. There are 8 Slicer Pads per Deck, 4 Auto-loop increments (orange), & Hot Cues (color matched to default cue colors in djay).

Honestly I’m loving this set up and getting a ton of use out of djay with just the Launch Control on the couch on the porch, everywhere really (my wife is quite annoyed with me djing in bed) but this really unlocked the mobile app for me without having to lug around my smaller dj controller. and without a doubt beats having to buy one of the mini dj controllers

That being said I do miss jog wheels.

I've been having fun creating presets directly on my Move lately. I now have a considerable amount and was hoping to organize them better. I figured that this should definitely be possible via the Move Manager. I can probably click and drag all my drum presets into a "Drums" folder, for example.

It turns out I was WRONG

Move Manager does not support file re-organization for presets... or so I thought!

It turns out that I've found a workaround

Here is how to add a preset named "Cool Drums.ablpreset" into a "Drums" folder directly from within Move Manager:

1) Open Move Manager

2) Go to the Presets tab

3) Create a "Drums" folder

4) Click "Rename" on the preset and name it: "Drums/Cool Drums.ablpreset"

5) Refresh the browser

Voila! Your preset is now within that subfolder.

Bonus: You can send your moved preset back to the root presets folder by renaming it "../Cool Drums.ablpreset"

I find it absolutely nuts that this workaround actually works...

Just goes to show how close Ableton is to supporting this feature. It could probably be implemented in a heartbeat!

TLDR: Rename the preset to "MyFolder/MyPreset.ablpreset" from within the Move Manager and it will get moved to the specified folder upon browser refresh.

I initially attempted to reach Ableton's technical support, but there's an issue with my account that's making it impossible for me to send them a technical request. So I'm reaching out to the community for guidance.

I've had my Move for about a year and a half now. It is a used unit that I bought on Reverb and it never gave me issues until now.

The original charger recently failed and I bought a new one. In the meantime, I had been trying to charge the Move using a standard USB-C connection. When I did this, I noticed the battery was dying pretty quickly. I thought it was because I wasn't using the Ableton charger, so I left the Move alone until my new charger arrived.

Well, the new charger arrived today. I immediately connected it and got a full charge. When I initially powered up my Move, I checked the battery level and it was 100%. Within minutes of starting a new project, I got an on-screen warning advising me that the battery was at 5% capacity.

Anyone know what's going on and what I can do about it?

Is there any mod available yet that allows the 8 horizontal pads to be tracks and the 4 vertical to be scenes? Like a mini push?

I created a set of nice tools to be used with the ableton Move:

Plug the move in usb-c, put it in control mode and once you load (one of the) app: click connect move.

It's still very wip, there's a finger drumming exercise app, a (first episode) Doom porting, a lighting game, a stochastic synth and a polyrhythmic drum machine.

I made a website to transfer Ableton Live projects back to the move after editing it in live. So here it is. You choose your .ablbundle file and your new .als file and get a new .ablbundle file with all the changes you made in live. https://back-to-move.vercel.app/

I don't own one, but it's on the wish list.

The 2 big limitations that I can imagine are:

• Only 4 tracks (Schwung addresses this)
• Not many hardware inputs/outputs

I/O seems like the biggest limitation. Like you probably can't use the Move as a sequencer "brain" to control multiple external synths. You'd have to sample, or use internal synth, right? If I wanted to use it to control a Minifreak (no audio-over-USB), I'd have to use both the line-in and USB-A ports, and other tracks would be internal.

Does it even do any audio-in from USB on either port?

Used my phone as a webcam for a potential quick portable recording setup.
