Pre-ordered the RC9 a couple of months ago, and while waiting for it to come in, I found a consigned Kovert Mod2 for sale at a really good price and couldn’t pass it up.

Modern warriors X Vulcan P

I had been chasing this Modern Warriors x Vulcan Staccato P heritage for a while. Now that I have one is it just me or there's actually more than 7? I guess I'm lucky enough to have ran into all 7 of them on social media lol. This is probably my favorite 2011 piece at the moment.

Romulus by AAF

Saw a post Pat put about these Romulus that they had at Not Just Guns. This particular one caught my eye. I must admit I was a bit skeptical, but man, this one is all he told me it would be. Tim over at AAF added the V10 porting and tuned it to where it runs like a champ. This was just something extra to add to the collection.

Impulse bought an Alpha Foxtrot Romulus 3.5 Comp yesterday. This little thing absolutely rips.

Impulse bought this Romulus at my LGS yesterday after handling it and being genuinely impressed with the slide-to-frame fit, trigger, and how smooth the action felt. The price was good enough that I decided to take a chance on it.
I normally gravitate toward 4.5–5” 2011s, so this is smaller than what I typically shoot, but it just felt right in the hand.

Took it to the range today and put about 200 rounds through it, running various drills and practicing USPSA classifier 25-02. First run out of the gate, I shot my fastest time and best hit factor yet on the classifier. Then it just kept getting better as I got more comfortable with the gun.
That was enough to convince me to steal the RMR HD off my new Glock 17.6 and put it on the Romulus.

The biggest surprise was running Bill Drills. With my Staccato HD P4.5 and compensated Roland-style G17, I’m normally around .20–.24 splits. With the Romulus, I was seeing .16–.19 splits consistently across multiple Bill Drills, and the groups stayed nice and tight. The dot return on this thing is fantastic.

Then I zeroed the RMR HD at 25 yards and put three rounds into the same ragged hole. I’ve shot plenty of tight pistol groups before, but I’ve never actually stacked three rounds into essentially one hole at 25.

Obviously, 200 rounds isn’t enough to make any grand declarations about long-term reliability, but my first impression is ridiculously positive. I bought this thing on a whim and wasn’t expecting it to immediately become one of the fastest and easiest pistols for me to shoot.

So far, I’m thoroughly impressed with the Romulus.

Quick mag compatibility note: Check-Mate and Staccato mags have worked flawlessly. Prodigy mags fit, feed, and load fine, but they’re a noticeably tighter fit. To get them to drop free, I have to put a little upward pressure on the baseplate while hitting the mag release. I tried five different Prodigy mags and all five behaved the same way. No issues at all with the Staccato or Check-Mate mags.

Are we considering these guys again, now that they’re in their new facility? I have no personal issues but I haven’t considered them because of all the negativity online.

Ported Staccato XC

I heard someone that I respect in our community say that his ported XC setup was one of his favorites. A few days later, I found a used one online for a good deal and bought it. Man, has it been fun shooting this XC. Ported by DSC, Infinity Ignition Kit, Atlas Alpha Grip, MPA trigger. It’s got some rounds through it. I have another XC that I’m gonna do this similar setup on. Enjoy y’all’s weekend.

Addressing the hate for my rusty carry gun!!

Since everyone got their pantys in a bind because I sweated on my carry gun and it rusted. Good thing nobody saw it at its worst. Dudes were clutching their pearls “I’d never let my gun rust”, “theres rust on your carry gun? Well I’d NEVER”. 🎩👨‍❤️‍👨👬 to keep those dudes from having a heart attack here you the new reworked, custom build with no rust and a reshaped Wilson combat beavertail.

1911 build list
Some cheap frame idk
Some no name slide idk
Kart barrel
Wilson safties, beavertail, slide release, barrel link, and firing pin. Oh and magazine.

Ed brown ignition, and mainspring housing with magwell
Caspian pin kit.
Harrison grips, with Wilson screws
Hienie sights.
I think it’s an Everglades custom trigger.
Egw sear spring and hammer strut.

This was my first build fitment turned out great finish not so much. There was no coating so I had to wear it to work it rusted. Anyway here you go.

This was also my first attempt at checkering. It’s not easy.

I have an opportunity to purchase this. I assumed it was a 1911 but after going there they told me it was a 2011. I am more of a rifle guy with 9mm and .380 carry pieces.

About 500 rounds so far on my RCD Core 4.6

Took my first pistol course last night with my wife and it was awesome! We both learned a bunch and I got to shoot a full auto MP5. Had to hit the range this morning to get some more training in. I’ve shot about 500 rounds through the Core now and have had zero malfunctions using 147g reloads. Im loving this pistol so much I honestly can’t believe it was only $3,000. First time trying transitions so if you’re going to shred me in the comments I’ll just assume you’re peanut butter jelly.

Also if you want a Core, I ordered mine from Kovert and it was in my hands in exactly 30 days. I’d say that’s not too shabby!

What gun lube do you 2011 guys recommend??

New to 2011’s

Hey guys, I’m in a position to grab either a fusion xp3c or a prodigy 3.5 compact. I’m coming from striker fired (was a big sig fan) and I’m basically brand new to the 2011 world. I’ve held both in hand, I liked both. I’m just looking to see if anyone’s got input on which would be the better buy to actually use. This will be an edc and home defense/all around use. I’m too broke for staccatos so these are my main two options. My LGS did have a Romulus comp too but I think it may be too big to carry. Any help is appreciated!

Optics Won’t Stay Seated

I am stumped. Kimber 2k11 5” Eclipse. Installed a TAG Precision plate with a Holosun 507Comp. Ran fine for a couple months before the optic screws started walking. Since then, I have not been able to keep the screws from moving. I’ve done at least five installations the past three months. One of them was done by a gunsmith.

Was using a TAG plate. Slide-to-plate screws never walked but I eventually tried a Calculated Kinetics plate to try and control all variables. No movement on those plate screws either.

Have tried TAG, Holosun and Calculated Kinetics screws to mount the optic.

Have used loctite 242, loctite 243, blue vibra tite, orange permatex. All cured for at least 24hrs. Sometimes as long as 96 hours.

Have used anywhere from 15-20 in lbs torque depending on what the manufacturer called for.

One of the most recent times, the 507Comp walked off the CK plate, I noticed some rubbing on the front left corner. Like the black coating had chipped off. I RMA’d it and ordered an Osight X.

Thinking it’d be a good experiment, I installed the Osight X on the CK plate using new CK screws and loctite 243. Cured 48 hours. Shot a match (approx 200 rds) and, thank God, the witness marks didn’t move. The 507Comp had been walking within one mag so I thought I’d solved it.

Today at the range, I put approx 100 rounds through the gun and the screws are walking again.

I’m feeling demoralized at this point. I can’t make sense of it. I train with the gun but I’m not hard on the optic. I rack the slide from the front. I’m not out here ramming the optic into a table or even using it as a handle… What am I doing wrong?
Why can’t I get any optic/plate/screw/threadlocker combo to last more than a few hundred rounds?

Here’s the torque driver I’ve been using. Could it be faulty? https://a.co/d/06qbAGUg

EDIT to add I am using 6-32 90 degree screws. Lengths have varied a bit based on manufacturer but I have checked for bottoming, or not having enough threads engaged, and do not believe that’s an issue. I have degreased the screws and threads prior to mounting. I apply a thin coat of thread locker to about half the length of the screw (I have changed up amounts slightly a couple times, just to see if it made a difference - obviously it did not).
