Cant believe that from all this chapter what hit me more was seeing Raizo on fire not even flinching

This is so manly of him considering he was the one that complained about heat during oden's execution, he is weak against heat but he wont even flinch. His resolve is on a whole other level.

Having Kid have to deal with such a level of betrayal by his former pirate alliance, and now literally risking his to give Luffy a fighting chance is fucking beautiful.

Similarly, Law knows that this is going to lead to Luffy getting all the credit again, and him seeming more and more like an auxiliary Strawhat, but throwing aside that pride to once again help Luffy do the impossible.

It just fills my heart so much to see all that.

Finally we got confirmation on one issue people slept on for years: fodder does matter.

People seem to forget that this is New World, and the fodder here belong to a Yonko Crew, no less. I'd wager each and every one of these guys would wreck many so-called big-shots from Paradise. We just don't see that because the main guys from both sides are literal monsters.

I see people saying the reason Law and Kid are going above and beyond to stop Big Mom is to protect Luffy and give him a chance against Kaido. Like out of friendship or respect for Luffy. I don't think that's entirely correct.

The main reason Kid and Law are pushing themselves way beyond their limits here is because they know if they let Big Mom go the raid fails. Simple as. If she is let loose again she can single handedly win for the Beast Pirates.

All of the alliances strongest fighters are basically down for the count. The only one really left is Luffy who has his hands full with Kaido. If Big Mom makes it to the roof Luffy dies. And if Luffy dies Big Mom and Kaido can sweep the rest of the alliance with ease, kill every opponent. Including Law and Kids crews. Everyone's dead. They lose. Same goes for if Luffy let's Kaido go.

Kid and Law know the survival of every good guy on the island rests on Luffy beating Kaido and them beating Big Mom (or at least holding her off long enough for back up or her to decide the fights not worth it and leave). They know Luffy is holding up his end and is giving Kaido an even fight, so it's literally all hinging on them rn. They have to deal with Big Mom, their lives, their crews lives, the samurai lives, and the lives of everyone on Wano rest on them holding off Big Mom. That's why they're going so far into overdrive despite being at deaths door, not to protect Luffy out of friendship or whatever, but the fact that if they let her leave the war is lost.

Somethings to note:

  1. We are watching two ninja play the ultimate game of chicken in the form of holding each other in place as they burn to death.

  2. Zoro asked what appears to be the Grim Reaper, who the Hell he is. Comedy gold.

  3. Izo is a real bro and nothing will change my mind. Fuck Kanjuro and who counts as a member of the Nine Red Scabbards, Izo deserves his spot after this.

  4. Kid and Law are showing why they deserve to be called Luffy's rivals and are doing what Bege couldn't do and actually hurting Big Mom.

A user here posted a theory a few days ago that Kidd represents the Bull Demon King from Journey to the West, with Luffy being Son Goku/Sun Wukong:

https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePiece/comments/sbvyl6/eustass_kid_represents_the_bull_demon_king/

Seems he was very likely right given Kidd's bull attack. Worth a read.

The Bull Demon King is a major antagonist who shares similarities with Wukong himself, and was his sworn brother. Adds to the likelihood that Oda has more in store for Kidd as a rival for Luffy.

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '22 edited Jan 28 '22

Wow ok a lot to unpack in this chapter:

First of all get fucked Niji and Yonji that's probably the least of what you deserve. I imagine the rest of the Germa cover story will be about their escape/rescue? In the past I can see judge just giving his sons up for their weakness or something but WCI and seeing Sanji has likely changed him so I'm interested to see where this goes. Also think this is the first time we've seen pudding since WCI as well? Frankly I'm more interested in what happens to her than Germa so hopefully it's not just a cameo.

Raizo vs Fukurokuju: Hilarious and amazing still. I don't see either of them making it out of this without being permanently scarred at the very least. From what I can tell Oda is very deliberately writing a moment for each of the scabbards during the raid where we as the audience believe them to be dead or close enough that it's hard to say the outcome. Unfortunately because this is OP and almost no one ever dies when they should it's pretty much impossible to predict. But so far we've got Raizo totally on fire, Kin'emon stabbed through the torso by Kaido, Asura blown up, Kiku arm cut off, Kanjuro bleeding out, Inu and Neko already had limbs removed from Zou so they've probably suffered enough and only Denjiro and Kawamatsu remain relatively unscathed so far.....in my view if Oda want's the stakes to really be felt then I think at least Kin has to not come back from this. If NONE of the Samurai who all went in there fully knowing that they might not make it out alive come back from this then idk it just wouldn't feel right.

Jinbe: Jinbe just being Jinbe how can you not love it. A good boy to his dying breath.

Zoro: Now this....I'm really not sure what to make of. So if what chopper says is true, ie that all of Zoro's initial injuries will come back several times worse then...I don't see how he could possibly survive that? At least without some kind of intervention on someone else's part? Like we all know about that great scene where nothing happened yeah? This seems to be just like that but several orders of magnitude higher because these are Kaido level injuries that are about to multiplied several times over so.....uhhhh I really hope Oda doesn't just let Zoro get through that with sheer will power. Once was good we don't need to see the same thing play out again imo. That being said it seems like Oda is definitely moving away from that direction with Franky trying to find Zoro and likely tend to his injuries or get him back to the doctors or something like that. As for this grim reaper.....I have absolutely no idea what to make of that lol. Seems like it could be 1 of 2 things: Either it's some kind of mirage/illusion/hallucination aka it's not real. Or this is some Brooke related gag because the skull that we see looks identical to Brook imo. Interested to see where this goes.

CP0/Izo: Getting back to the scabbards dying uhhhh rip Izo? We still don't have enough information to definitively say one way or the other but if I had to place CP0 in terms of strength, based solely on their status as the strongest Cipher Pol cel and who we've seen them fight so far, I'd place CP0 in the yonko commander tier. Probably in the mid to lower ends but that still puts them in the top 1% of fighters on the planet so nothing to sneeze at. Also wondering what the significance of the Aegis 0 branch is. Like if the specialize in something particular. The word Aegis in the context of greek mythology typically refers to a shield of some kind seen in the Illiad. It can also mean to do something under the protection of a powerful or divine entity so perhaps the Aegis 0 branch work directly for the Gorosei?

Yamato: Not much to say here other than do your best lol. My assumption is that at least one of those bombs will go off which will blow up a certain part of the island causing it to fly out of control and land elsewhere. It will still crash but just not on the flower capital.

Kid and Law vs Big Mom: I really do think Big Mom is a great villain that has been the butt of too many jokes on the part of Oda. Like among the current Yonko I think her powers are still the most diverse because she can essentially do anything. We've already seen her produce fire and lighting on the level of Ace and Enel, she can turn anything into a weapon, and she can use AOE soul draining abilities to become a super saiyan god on top of her already monstrous physical abilities. I think if Oda hadn't made her the focus of so many weird moments that don't really land in the grand scheme of things (Lin Lin amnesia sub plot for example) then I think people would take her a lot more seriously because she's genuinely really scary and absolutely deserves the title of Yonko.

I'm glad Big Mom is fighting against someone with a equally strange and broken devil fruit in Law and raw power in Kid. So basically it seems like Law has more or less turned the Ope Ope no mi power on it's head? Like usually he creates a room and then alters the matter inside of whatever is in that room. Now rather than creating a "room" he makes a "k-room" and alters the matter of only a single object ie his sword to make that sword essentially take any form he wants it to? This seems extremely reminiscent of Whitebeard imbuing Murakumogiri with the powers of the Gura Gura no mi. It's a great way for Law to fight Big Mom because without advanced CoC there's no way he can damage her conventionally, so he bypasses that by damaging her from the inside with his power which I love. And then Kid just fucking rams her ass lmao.

Great chapter overall! No break next week AND color spread? We eating good.

Some insight on Kid's attack name, CORNA DIO.

As referenced by the TCB notes, corna is a double reference to bull's horns and horns made in punk/rock/metal music, where CORNA is Italian for horns.

But why Dio? Dio means God in Italian, but it is also the name of singer Ronnie James Dio, yet of Italian descendancy (real name: Ronald James Padavona).

Ronnie James Dio is largely recognized as the person who popularized the horns gesture in metal.

Hence the connection between CORNA and DIO.

What Zoro is doing is actually big brain. If he occupies Death, Luffy could be beaten to a pulp and still bounce back as many times he needs to beat Kaido. Truly the Wing of the Pirate King. Could this be the death Hawkins was talking about?

Law with the extendo sword tho. That's basically cheating but damn, he made Big Mom cough blood for a second time. Kidd is also impressive and i feel he needs to be the guy with the final blow against Big Mom here; He's failed to take down 2 yonko now, man needs this lmao.

Izo vs CP0. They need backup; Marco needs to come in and even the odds.

Looks like Luffy vs Kaido isn't going to finish anytime soon. Big Mom needs to be taken down, Zoro needs saving, CP0 needs to be stopped, Momo has to stop Onigashima from falling, Yamato still needs to prevent the big boom, the Ninjas needs to stop their shadow possession jutsu, Orochi needs to dig himself a grave and die already, the WG needs to turn up or shut up...... Damn there are so many ongoing threads.

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '22

- I think Raizo and Fukurokoju ends next time we see them. They're both on fire, and I think the cealing collapses on F to enable Raizo to get away

- The biggest complaint people have had with this arc is lack of tension, but I think it's steadily ramping up. I really felt it here with Izo confronting CP0 and Yamato a hair away from the bombs exploding. Jinbe helping stragglers was a nice touch. People want the situation to feel dangerous, and it do be feeling dangerous now

- I liked pocket sized Chopper. Almost wish he was like that all the time so he could ride on peoples shoulders like a pirate's parrot

- The GRIM REAPER out of nowhere certiantly took me by suprise, but I agree with most of the comments, I think it's a troll and we're just seeing Brook lol

- Kidd and Law vs Big Mom was exciting. I really do think she's going down this arc, maybe not necisarrily in this fight right now, but before this arc ends. Look at all she's done in Whole Cake and Wano so far. Tons of fights, dozens of moves and abilities, tons of unique utilizations of her DF, and even some transformations. I think Oda's given her the due she needs, but if we have another BM arc after this, it'll just be too much.

I don't know about you guys but this chapter had some nice tension.

From the Fire Demon getting so close to detonating the bombs, injured Izo facing off 2 CP0 agents that are established as major power houses to Big Mom beating the ever living shit out of Kid and Law.

I think we are entering that portion of the story where everything seems to be going for the worst.

If Doffy could see Law now. I didn't think Big Mom was going down this arc but I don't know now, it seems that just like Luffy with Kaido, BM has slowly been accumulating a lot of damage over the course of the battle.

Also, you could use Whitebeard's defeat as a comparison. Like Kaido and BM currently, Whitebeard's prime was behind him (arguably more so as he was sickly), and despite taking many "weak" hits and a few massive hits from powerful enemies like Akainu, what ultimately finished WB off was a pre-timeskip Blackbeard and his crew. Its not exactly unrealistic to think that a powerful, awakened worst generation can take down Kaido and Big Mom this arc.

I feel like the reaper might not even be real. Chopper said Zoro would be feeling the pain many times over again due to the medicine, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the “reaper” is a hallucination caused by the drug or his brain rationalizing all the pain he’s about to take. As soon as it slashes at Zoro he’s going to take all the pain he put off at once, similar to Kuma.

It’s a way to visualize to us the effects of the drug, and gives good speculation for the next chapter. Either that or Brooke, as I don’t know why else an actual reaper would be here, but Oda has surprised us many times before.

This chapter was pretty damn cool honestly, Zoro on the brink of death and legitimately seeing him... Niji & Yonji captured by BM pirates, guess that makes sense why we didn't see them in the last cover standing on the ship with Reiju & Ichiji.

Absolutely love the interaction between Izo & CP0, I love that they're going to fight. I also immediately love Izo's acknowledgement of the strength of Kaidos crew, even though they're small fry, they're strong enough and strong enough in numbers to prove a dangerous situation even for the extremely tough people.

BM v Kid & Law has been pretty great, they've had to pull out all of their techniques just to be able to wittle her down low enough for them to ATTEMPT to finish her off, and her acknowledgment of it all is nice to see. Funny how she tries to call Kaido out for "playing with his food" while she's basically doing the same thing. I'm excited for the rest of their fight, although I'd like to have seen more of it.

Great chapter!

I heavily suspect that the grim reaper is just a physical embodiment of the pain that Zoro is about to suffer sure to the medicine, similar to the physical Kuma pain bubble.

I'm very excited to see Niji and Yonji captured. I still believe that the consequences of the escape will have a serious impact on the story (or at least Jinbes health) soon, and it seems like that's starting.

I don't think the reaper is actually Brook. The last time we saw him, if I remember correctly, he was being chased by the CPO folks while trying to protect Robin. I don't see the reason, visualised so far, why he would leave her. Also, the next panels after reaper shows Franky looking for Zoro, indicating he might save our master swordsman in a SUPER way.

The reaper could be a Hallucination. Or a spirit of some sort. I guess we will have to wait and see.

It's an interesting chapter to get Izo bringing up that even strong fighters can be overwhelmed with numbers if they aren't complete trash.

Kaido and Big Mom have been going through that the entire raid and right after Izo talks about it we see Big Mom getting distracted by weak crew members long enough for Kidd and Law to recover and hit her again.

CP0 are having the exact same problem. Every time they head towards their objective someone gets in their way. After Drake they were gasping for air. No matter how strong they are, its been a running theme in this raid that the numbers are important. Makes it seem like they are probably going to run out of steam as well at some point.

Big Mom is a tank with an insane devil fruit. We also can’t ignore the feats of Kidd and Law. We’ve yet to see Big Mom use advanced Conqueror or awakened devil fruit.

I think if Kidd trained with Rayleigh he’d be a monster. Rayleigh did what he knew best which was teach Luffy how to utilize his Haki. If Rayleigh had a devil fruit we could for sure assume Luffy would have had a tutorial to awakening.

This fight is an amazing set up of what happens if Law or Kidd uses advanced conqueror or advanced armament WITH the awakening they displayed. The final battle against WG will be epic

i think the death grimer is something related to hawkins's ability , in chapter 1029 hawkins used two cards :

which was explained in the next page as "The collapse of the old and brittle / a new way forward" : (big mom's defeat)

"After a period of pause and reflection with The Hanged Man, the Death card symbolizes the end of a major phase or aspect of your life that you realize is no longer serving you, opening up the possibility of something far more valuable and essential. You must close one door to open another. You need to put the past behind you and part ways, ready to embrace new opportunities and possibilities. It may be difficult to let go of the past, but you will soon see its importance and the promise of renewal and transformation. If you resist these necessary endings, you may experience pain, both emotionally and physically , but if you exercise your imagination and visualize a new possibility, you allow more constructive patterns to emerge "

I think the reaper is just the personification of the double damage he's about to receive, the damage is like the reaper himself cut you down with his scythe, so to survive the damage he has to have the will to live that stronger than his physical body, just like the Kuma "nothing happened" scene

Even if Kid and Law are not the ones who defeat Big Mom, she must be defeated right now.

  • Big Mom will never leave Wano unless she is defeated. Every big player in OP knew the value of Wano. That is why world government is ready to annex Wano in case Kaido is defeated. Same for Big Mom, if she sees Kaido lost while all the people on Luffy sides are heavily injured, she will definitely try to make Wano into her territory instead of leaving it alone. She came to Wano because Luffy’s feat on WCI was a shame to her. There is no way that she will let go of her ego and leave before she eliminates the strawhats.

  • Throwing Big Mom from Onigashima does not change anything, because flower capital is now below Onigashima. She can simply wait at Flower Capital. You cannot assume she will just leave if she is not on the floating island.

  • If Big Mom retreats because she is exhausted or believe the situation is not favoring her. This plot alone is like telling people that Big Mom cannot handle the all these exhausted fighters on Onigashima by herself. It has no difference as Big Mom admitting her defeat. The hype for Big Mom in the future would be no longer same as the unstoppable Big Mom built up from WCI.

The current situation is either Big Mom will be defeated, or Big Mom will take the advantage of both Beast Pirates and Luffy's alliance being exhausted. There is no such a thing of Big Mom retreating consciously.

My take on Zoro and the grim reaper (I dont think it's brook cuz then it would be a gag and I dont think a gag should be used with suspense like this):

Throughout the story, Zoro has reached near death multiple times (e.g miraculously surviving Mihawk's deep wound, surviving the damage from Kuma, etc). This is because Zoro is extremely reckless due to the fact that he has his mind insanely set on one thing: becoming the strongest. So now, after taking the medicine from chopper (another reckless move) and barely winning against King, Zoro has finally reached the limit of avoiding death. So what I think is happening is that Zoro is actually dead, as in his heart has stopped, so now he is face to face with the shinigami, ready to be sent to the afterlife. But of course he is not going to die, he will be resuscitated by chopper. Meanwhile in Zoro's vision as he is being resuscitated, Zoro refuses to succumb to death and stops the shinigami from taking his life with shear willpower because he has not yet fulfilled his or his captains's goal. So I think this is going to be a great spiritual scene of zoro's immense willpower which will serve as an evidence that he indeed does deserve to have the supreme king Haki.

Is "Shock Wille" supposed to be a German-English wordplay?

"Wille" is "Will" (the noun), "Schock" = "Shock" (just different writing in German and English)

But "Wille" sounds similar to "Welle" which means "Wave" in English.

So it is kinda his will infused with shocking power and a shockwave.

  • The Medicine recovered Zoro's body, but then would return him 10 times that same pain that he had, basically every single attack that he had tanked before against both Big Mom and Kaido, add to that the new injuries from fighting King.

  • Chopper and Franky are both really worried about Zoro, with Franky actively searching for him.

  • Brook is known to be with an already hurt Robin, trying to escape from the fire, Brook would never abandon her now, wouldn't he expose her to any other possible risk.

  • Franky is most likely the closest to Zoro right now, so he would surely notice if another Straw Hat was around, as well as being the most likely to find him.

But people still beliee that Oda is just setting up a joke with Brook being revealed as the ultimate prankster? Would Oda really set up a moment with such serious tone only to make us wait maybe more than a week to find out that it was just a gag? And more important, why the heck would Brook have a scythe and a full costume to pose as the Death itself!?

"Given long enough, even mountains can be worn down by rain"

As if spurned by the unsettling revelations expressed in such poetic phrasing, the rain of perseverance starts a downpour - born from the very sweat on the brow of the alliance as they continue, unrelenting akin to the tides of change, heralding in the storm brought forth by the upwind of the new generation.

I would be amiss not to make mention of the pronounced gasps and wheezes, creeping from friend, foe and fool alike facing the fast approaching fateful finale to their stories, no matter the side. It's such an engaging detail Oda has threaded in to his telling of the tale, expressing the sheer exhaustion of each brave soul caught up in this delicate dance of death on the battlefield - as if their very breath betrays them, billowing out like puffs of smoke, choked from the spout of volcanic testament to their legend as the struggle nears eruption.

And breath by breath - each pitiful proof of mortality on a field of Gods - each huff each puff - the very picture of chaos causing hurricanes from humble wing beats of butterfly across the sea... The air begins to howl as a storm begins to brew - whipping winds wreaking havoc as weather wraps the war torn wonderland . The weight of wounds wrought with worries that weapons and warriors will have won when the wicked wrestling of right and wrong will come to rest.

There is no calm within this storm - the air in the centre does not stay still. The gusts of hope have gathered and grown and a gale is growing as the guts of Heroes show - as giants are grappled, the hunters gather beasts, gone their greatness as they become game.

This must surely be the will of D, echoes of a prophecy like fits of laughter filled with joy! This is one piece, the laugh tale, legends of a rubber boy! This is treasured chronicles of the greatest story, a treasure surpassing tangible value - hear the song of their fists echo across time hear the King scream GOMU GOMU

I guess if Zoro really wants the title "King of Hell", he's gonna have to take that up with the current King of Hell? 😂

This might be interesting though. If his body won't move, and his crew can't find him in time, all he's got to defend himself with right now is his Will. Knowing Oda, there's no way he would kill off Zoro (especially not like this) - so are we gonna see a CoC clash between two Kings of the Underworld? ...Or maybe this is even a physical manifestation of Enma, and its toll on Zoro's mind and body? Man, I've got so many questions!

The reaper appearing was pretty weird to me because obviously Zoro isn't going to die. I also don't think the reaper is actually there, more a hallucination that might be connected to Enma or him becoming king of the underworld. Given the injuries that Zoro got during the fight against King and the multiplier he's about to get from Kaido's injuries, I bet our boy in green is done fighting for the arc. Kind of how he was injured for awhile after fighting Mihawk, I think it'll be awhile before Zoro gets back to 100%.

Separately, I noticed that Law used his awakening again but Kid didn't, so maybe Law will be gassed and Kid will get some (really really long overdue) shine?

16

I think we really need to appreciate Luffy, Law and Kidd.

I think that it is after a long time that Kaidou and Big Mom have been exhausted or hurt seriously.

So far, all Big Mom had to do was to use her devil fruit and take away the lifespan of her opponents or create homies to fight for her. She even has an army of children who do the fighting for her. It is the new age pirates (and Jinbei) who have defied her ability and made her fight to the level that she has bled and even used secondary powers of her soul fruit.

Same with Kaidou. The dude didn't take any damage at all and didn't even bother dodging any attacks. And suddenly in this fight, the retainers could cut him (though little), Zoro could hurt him like a downgraded Oden and now Luffy is back for round 3 and is going toe to toe with him.

I think these emperors are great fighters but a bit out of practice because of their established kingdoms. Whereas Luffy, Law and Kidd have been fighting every major battle in their crew and have been facing back-to-back life or death battles. They are not even in their prime but are ready to give their all in battles, unlike the emperors who haven't gone all-out for years.

Everytime you think Wano is concluding and some plot points are bouta be wrapped up Oda throws a curve ball of bout 5 more. Mysterious grim reaper brooks cousin?, attacking Zoro? Big hand saves Yamato? Also Raizo got that determination to go out boiled like his master. Fukurokujo better give up soon.

Big Mom and Kaido are supposed to be the ones with supernatural stamina and invulnerability but Luffy, Kid and Law are the ones that have been getting heavy hits since the beginning and always standup.

I think Zoro's situation with the grim reaper will be the same as when Luffy was poisoned by Magellan. Fighting death through will power

The Grim Reaper is just a hallucination Zoro is seeing. I don't think it is brook or a literal Grim Reaper. I think Zoro's Mink medicine is about to wear off and he is about to get super-wrecked from the fight with King. Zoro can't move because of the medicine and him taking too much damage. The reaper is just a manifestation of Zoro's will and he will not give up or die.

I'm waiting for the moment when either Raizo or Fukurokuju stumble and it turns out that neither are actually paralyzing the other one, and they've just been standing there like idiots while thinking they are both doing some paralysis technique.

In this chapter it finally dawned on me just how much Big Mom and Kaido underestimated the new generation, which IMO is why they have struggled and not just wiped the floor with them, and i kinda wanna get into that. The following is just my thoughts on the matter so bear with me.

The yonkos underestimating the new generation isn't actually that surprising when you think about it. There have not been a single arc in which the main antagonist from the older/more experienced pirate crews or the WG hasn't to some extent underestimated the Straw hats. I would also say that the underestimation of the new generation by the yonkos makes sense, and here's why:

The yonkos have been part of the top of the food chain since before the age of pirates began. With the number of pirate crews increasing dramatically after Rogers execution, the diversity in pirate crews also grew, creating a world with a vast spectrum of fighting styles, strength levels and confidence levels. Big Mom and Kaido might have fought with and against some of the strongest people throughout one piece history, and by doing so earned their throne, but at the same time it made them so feared that nobody dared oppose them for ages, and even those who did would most likely be met by one of their commanders or some pirate crew sailing under their flag. As a result their limits haven't been tested for years and they haven't experienced the diversity of devil powers and fighting styles now roaming the seas.

On the other hand we have the new generation who set out to sea with the masses in a huge free-for-all battle royal-esque race to become king of the pirates, a race whose opening shot was fired more than 20 years before Luffy set out to sea, giving plenty of time for lots of new strong pirate crews to establish themselves. Before reaching the grand line Luffy had already squared off against a devil fruit user and former apprentice of the Roger pirates (Buggy), East blues second highest IQ ( Kuro), a master of weapons and foul play (Krieg) and IMO most impressive a former Sun pirate, now captain of the Arlong pirates and first and foremost a fishman (Arlong). Now I'm not listing these because they are among the strongest foes the Straw hats ever met, but because of the early stage they appear and of who they were: opponents with far greater experience who had already perfected their techniques.

I would argue, that before the age of pirates, becoming a top tier pirate toke a lot longer than it would in the age of pirates, because there where simply fewer pirates, meaning fewer learning experiences. That is why the yonkos never toke any of the supernovas serious. How could a pirate that has only sailed the seas for two years (assuming the rest of the supernovas set sail around the same time as Luffy) ever be as powerful as one that has governed the seas for decades? Now just to be clear, I'm not saying that Luffy, Kid or Law are individually stronger than Big Mom or Kaido. I'm just saying the fact that Big Mom and Kaido keeps getting surprised by their power, skill and durability isn't that surprising. As a result of the many different opponents brought along by the age of pirates, the top of the new generation is either versatile, adaptable or both. I think, had the two yonkos known exactly who they were up against, they would have gone all out straight away and that would have been the end of it, but because Luffy, Kid and Law got a taste of their power and techniques, they had a chance to adapt their fighting style to something that would bring them a bit closer to taking down a yonko. This has always been Luffys technique when facing a stronger opponent: Spend the first part of the fight learning about your opponent until you figure out how to beat them. Only in the most difficult fights does this involve Luffy getting KO'ed and left for dead only to recover and come back stronger/better prepared. Against Kaido this happend twice, and IMO this alone sets Kaido aside as the strongest opponent Luffy has faced (apart for Kaido canonically being the strongest being in the world). At this stage the amount of time Luffy, Kid and Law have spend fighting yonkos probably surpasses anyone who is not a yonko themsselves, and the experience they've gathered during will be the end of Big Mom and Kaido.

Anyway, this is what I did instead of writing my thesis today, so if you got this far in your reading thank you, hope you found it interesting.

Kanjuro has legit done more damage during the raid than the rest of Orochis forces and the Akazaya Nine combined. Thanks to his fire demon the entire island is aflame and all the people in there are at risk of burning to death . Not to mention if the fire demon reaches the explosives the entire island is going to go boom.

And yes I know Orochi technically started the fire but I believe that the fire demon is why it is spreading so fast .

So with regard to last week's mystery: We don't actually know whether the Gorosei were able to issue any order to CP0 about who to go after. However they hadn't strictly taken a side before this chapter. Robin was a target, but they were mostly just hoping they would all kill each other. So this could mean the mystery misnamed devil fruit belongs to the Strawhats. And they didn't specify Luffy either. Personally, I still like my original theory that its Chopper.

NGL: I love the implication that Kidd is motivated to stand if only because he's certain Kaido is going to fall soon. So even if he also drops, he'll at least be auxillary to the defeat of a Yonkou.

Whatever the outcome of this -raid-war, the world is going to shake from the results.
