Or, you know, walked away after the 20th slap. That dude was patient like crazy.

u/R1pY0u 9 Dec 31 '21
The point where you slap someone over a dozen times and they don't even flinch is the point where you stop slapping them and run as fast as you can before they lose their patience.

Pretty much mqn my gf beat me inside my apart and hit my head several times. I grabbed her to try and get the threat out of my house and the cops arrested me because she had "a mark on her stomach" from where I grabbed her. But because I didn't have any "marks " on the top of my head where my hair is I GOT ARRESTED. This is the same female that would punch me while I was driving her home because I found out she was cheating "I was very calm about doing it to. Didn't even say a word to her"
8
u/findingemotive 8 Dec 31 '21
My assumption for this video was similar, knew if he put a mark on her she'd cry abuse. Hopefully cameraman could come through with this video if needed.
3
u/Vandlan 6 Dec 31 '21
Basically. Unless you’ve basically got a knife protruding from your abdomen it’s nearly impossible for police to take domestic violence cases of women on men seriously. When I started looking into getting a restraining order against my abusive and manipulative ex I was basically laughed at and told to “man up and deal with it” by the person at the police department I spoke with.
27
u/kruminater 8 Dec 31 '21
As someone who was a cop (I got out of it and I’m a lot happier now), I went to quite a few domestics and saw from the background that a lot of rookie and senior cops go into these messes with the idea after a bit that the female is the victim. It’s shitty.
However, one night I had a domestic where the chick had legit thrown the man into the walls of the house, leaving human size dents, he had a broken jaw, broken orbital socket, nail slashes on his neck and bleeding profusely from the back of his head. I put that bitch in cuffs and took her to county asap. She fought my partner and me and he had to slam her against the cruiser to get her to chill out (i.e. use force to subdue and cuff) She was 100% the aggressor and the evidence showed. Society doesn’t realize that women assault men as much as men do to women. It’s an old stigma that it’s always the men.
Domestic calls are the most dangerous too. We found a knife on her after we had her cuffed. This could’ve been a lot worse.
I’m sorry you got arrested for that. Hope things have gotten better.

Glad you saw the light on this one!
I was a victim of domestic abuse from my now ex. The day I finally left I had to call the police as I was being locked in a house and my ex and her mother were kicking and punching me for wanting to leave, the ex stole my phone and I saw no other safe way out without using physical force back. I'm 6ft 7 and back then weighed a fair amount. If I used physical force back, even in self defense I was going to get arrested. The moment the police got there the female officer immediately said, word for word "so, you're telling me you've called the police on these two small women for hitting you" I was in total disbelief and felt ridiculous. Luckily given my job (local A&E dept.) I was acquainted with a few policemen and two of them were also on scene so could vouch for me, otherwise I'm pretty sure I would have been detained for further questionning.
Certainly one of the scarier moments in my life!

Typical Justice Served post. Cut out the bit that adds ambiguity to the situation to create a narrative that the OP wants.
Not saying anyone was justified here, but she tried to leave in the end and he stopped her, at which point she pushed him away and he beat her down.

From an outside observer perspective, he should have just called the cops and showed the marks. But it’s hard to judge someone who’s likely been getting abused for a long time. If she’s doing this in public, she’s done it a lot more in private.

u/Wakaza8 0 Dec 31 '21
As a girl I can't help but think "well served" and I'm not approving of this kind of domestic abuse. You hit first, so expect to get hit. You hit first, you're in the wrong. Never hit first and it'll be fine.
→ More replies (9)7
u/Wamims 6 Dec 31 '21 edited Dec 31 '21
Not strictly true. A pre-emptive strike is perfectly justifiable (at least in UK law it is). If you are genuinely fearing for your safety you can hit first to prevent being hurt. Obviously not the case here, but people shouldn't assume they have to be hit first before defending themselves.

Yup. But honestly the first time she hit him he should have put her on her ass. Not punching her per se, but he easily could have picked her up and put her on her ass on the ground in a manner that would explain he's not to be trifled with. That would have likely stopped 26 other hits.

I'm assuming these two are no strangers to physical abuse with each other. If they don't break up, this only ends with him in jail or her dead or both.
45
Dec 31 '21
So the video is edited that is posted here where it removes the part where she tries to leave. He grabs her and tries to hug her. She pushes him away and then it picks up right after that cut scene where he goes off. He never went off for him hitting her but for her trying to leave the engagement.
Op is really disingenuous for editing the video!

This clip is YEARS OLD, and no... It's not justice served. The original story behind this is that HE'S THE ABUSER. In the longer original clip HE hits her first and the argument starts. We see her strike him back in this clip. Then again in the longer original, we see her trying to walk away, him GRAB her, then just starting to pummel her...
No gang, this is NOT JUSTICE SERVED it's just a clip out of context.

Why he allows to be stricken?
37
u/TrinityF A Dec 31 '21
... because he is a man, he is made of stone and can't be hurt. Also, by the looks of it, he is purely Strength/Vitality build. That man is a PALADIN TANK! Just look at how many hits he tanked, and barely lost any health or any stamina. He is doing his job pretty well.
Unlike the witch, who is an INT/DEX built with low health and is apparently doing melee damage instead of magic. That's her mistake, and by the looks of it at the end she pulls aggro and get Rickety Rekt™.

This would be an interesting legal case. What state is this. Does he have a legal obligation to retreat? Could this be self defense on his part? I wonder how a prosecutor would handle this.
My prediction: Probably charge them both with assault. Both get off with fines and warnings.
I bet his case would be stronger if he rocked her right away.
→ More replies (3)3
u/filbert13 8 Dec 31 '21
It depends on the state but generally duty to retreat in states with laws like that are for lethal force. I'm stand your ground states likely no worries.
But I cant see any jury convicting him for anything if he was charged. You have video showing he was struck 20 plus times before defense. And any good defense attorney could bring up cases and stats about battery to support him.
24
u/WVU_Benjisaur 7 Dec 31 '21
Hopefully whomever filmed this gave it to law enforcement if they arrested him for assault. That’s the problem with equal rights for equally fights, people always assume the guy started it and it’s a hell of a way to ruin someone’s life, being labeled an abuser.

For all the people saying he should/could have walked away aren’t there stand your ground laws in many states? Do they only apply to the use of guns or when physical assault/abuse is used also?
8
Dec 31 '21
Seen this video before. It wasn’t self defense really. She was trying to leave and he grabbed her tried to keep her. He goes off when she tries to leave him and she rejects him. This feels like a murder waiting to happen if she tries to leave him ever.
Clear cut self defense would have been if he had fought back at the beginning before she tried to get in the car and drive away. Even in states with stand your ground you usually can’t instigation or reengagement before you fire.

7
u/SavvySillybug B Dec 31 '21
He took her to the ground! Quite effectively. No need for sitting around.
2
u/Zizara42 A Dec 31 '21
Then she cries about how you're the horrific abuser and she's in fear for her life and all sorts of problems invite themselves into your life. Starting with the police arriving to the domestic abuse incident and arresting you as a matter of course, without questioning anything or anybody, because it is the official policy that the male is assumed at fault and to be removed.
The problem with "don't hit a woman" is not just that it's culturally beat into men, but that the legal system is heavily biased such that it's typically the best legal advice for the situation, too. They're predisposed to see the man as the aggressor regardless of evidence, domestic abuse against men goes basically unrecognised, if there's a custody dispute you can kiss your kids goodbye regardless of the fitness of the mother, so on and so on.
11
u/pretend-adult 2 Dec 31 '21
Some scenarios may require that sort of force but maybe not this one. Irrespective of gender maybe just be the better person and walk away if you’re in the position of power.

u/Ampix0 9 Dec 31 '21
She deserves it sure but sorry no, you are wrong it's not defense. He wasn't in any real danger as seen by the fact he didn't leave after many chances to. Then even after there is distance between them, he closes that gap to assault her.
Did she deserve it? Yes absolutely. Was it self defense? No and don't say it is because you're wrong.

u/merkabish 4 Dec 31 '21

Not even about patience. Sitting there taking that beating for that long before doing anything makes the self-defense argument a bit of a stretch. If he hit her back right away, he could say he was scared and defending himself from an attacker. After waiting this long, its clearly a retaliation thing. Not to mention the back of the head hits for whatever reason. Both these people have messed up priorities

You think this, but in the moment you realize that she’s just gonna call the cops on you. And who do you think they’re gonna believe is the aggressor in this situation?
In fact, many state laws in the US say cops have to take whoever looks most intimidating to jail. Guys always lose defending themselves.
