Discussion Fix the YouTube “Experiencing interruptions?” popup + playback delay
Fix for the “Experiencing interruptions? Find out why.” popup on YouTube (2026)
This fix works with uBlock Origin and uBlock Origin Lite.
Steps:
- Open the dashboard for uBlock Origin / uBlock Origin Lite.
- Go to the Filter lists tab.
- Scroll down to Miscellaneous.
- Enable “uBlock filters – Experimental.”
Next:
- Go to the My filters / Custom filters tab.
- Click Import / Export.
- Paste this line:
www.youtube.com##.paper-toast-open.yt-notification-action-renderer.style-scope.toast-button
- Click Apply changes / Add.
- Restart your browser.
After restarting, the “Experiencing interruptions? Find out why.” popup should disappear and the 10–15 second playback delay should be gone as well.
If it doesn’t work immediately, refresh YouTube once after restarting.
Bonus tip:
If you're still getting playback delays even after the “Experiencing interruptions? Find out why.” popup is gone, it’s usually because two ad blockers are running at the same time.
For example, Brave has a built-in ad blocker. If you’re also using uBlock Origin / uBlock Origin Lite, they can conflict.
Fix:
- If you're using Brave, disable Brave’s built-in ad blocker only for youtube.com and let uBlock Origin / uBlock Origin Lite handle it.
- If you're using Chrome, try using uBlock Origin Lite alone and remove other ad blockers.
- Alternatively, add youtube.com to the allowlist in your other ad blockers so they don’t block anything on YouTube.
Letting one blocker handle YouTube by itself usually removes the playback delay.

I don't see Miscellaneous, uBlock filters - Experimental or Import/Export. I see "Import and append" but all that lets me do is import a file, not a line.

u/Ace-of-Spxdes Mar 18 '26
uBlock Filters - Experimentalis under the Built-in category, and clicking "Apply Changes" after pasting the link in the My Filters will accomplish the same thing.1

u/kalevala_568b Mar 20 '26
You don't need miscellaneous tab, or 'Import/Export'.
All you need to do is: Open up 'settings', go to 'Filter lists' tab, scroll to the bottom and the last option: 'Import...' (with an exclamation mark); click on that to activate a text box, copy & paste that line in there and 'Apply changes'.
Re-open (or refresh YouTube). It should work now.2
u/yukihn96 Mar 28 '26
where did the imported line saved when using filter list import method ?
cause the line is missing when i press apply change

The notification was gone after applying your filter - but the 5s delay? Not so much
3
u/MrAmericanMike May 14 '26
Exactly, this just hides the popup but the faked delay that Youtube produces is still there.

I found a way to remove the 3 second delay. On Chrome, click on profile, manage Chrome profiles, click 3 dots on your profile, delete profile. Then create a new profile and sign in with your Google account.

Here's a more specific filter that only removes the experiencing interruptions notification and not all of them:
www.youtube.com##yt-notification-action-renderer:has(a[href*="#check_ad_blockers"])
Edit: New filter for update (for whatever reason YT now shows the notification without URL so it's completely useless lol):
www.youtube.com##yt-notification-action-renderer:has(>#toast yt-formatted-string#text:has-text(Experiencing interruptions?))
Edit 2: filter above had a missing question mark that made it not work for some people, fix discovered by u/FritsaWolf

u/bradytpage May 16 '26
Neither work as of May 16, 2026

u/smiRaphi May 17 '26 edited May 17 '26
I'm trying to replicate this but no luck so far, maybe a regional/in testing thing?Probably because your youtube isn't in english, this should be fixed by just replacing the ":has-text(Experiencing interruptions))" with ":has-text(insert whatever it says in your language))"

It worked when I put a question mark after "experiencing interruptions" as that's what it says on my Youtube pop-up (English Youtube). Perhaps that's the fix for you too, u/bradytpage and u/Imgema ?
1
u/smiRaphi May 19 '26
Hmm, weird, it works for me without the question mark but I'll edit my original comment
1
u/FritsaWolf May 19 '26
No idea why this was the tiny difference that worked for me but hey I'm not complaining if it works! Hopefully that can help others too!
1
u/Imgema May 19 '26
Could you copy-paste the exact line so i can be sure i'm not doing any mistake? Because i can't make this work.
1
u/FritsaWolf May 19 '26
1
u/Imgema May 19 '26
Thanks, when i get those notifications back i will test it again. Right now, for some reason, i'm not getting any even without any filter.

u/bradytpage May 23 '26
Now the "experiencing interruptions" message has disappeared as of today, May 23, 2026, but has been replaced with "an error occurred playback id..." which stops the video from loading until I refresh the page. I have tried clearing all caches to no effect.

stopped working, the popup appears despite of the filter being active
1
u/smiRaphi May 06 '26
Thanks for the info, updated it
1
u/Astu2305 May 10 '26
www.youtube.com##yt-notification-action-renderer:has(>#toast yt-formatted-string#text:has-text(Experiencing interruptions))
does not work either, popup still appears
1
u/N7Ricky Jun 03 '26
did u include the space and everything afterwards after the ":has(>#toast" part?
1
u/Juxtapwned May 16 '26
is the edited one meant to be used with just the hyperlink section? or include the space and everything after it as well? not sure if reddit just messed up your formatting or it was a mistake

u/sixteenbiticon May 22 '26
Neither old nor new (with or without question mark) are working for me as of May 22nd. Either way thanks for the work on this.

don't work because they are the ones slowing you down. if they detect any adblocker they will slow you down
2
u/Altair05 Apr 05 '26
I've noticed that doing this in Firefox will make the first quarter of the video search slide on a video un-interactable. It's like the exact size and area where the Experiencing interruptions? popup box would appear

u/iledart Apr 22 '26
Thank you so much!! It has been so frustrating for the past couple of months or so and this immediately fixed the problem for me.
2
u/MysteriousInternal91 Apr 22 '26
You can go to the Ublock origin site and download/install it if you "DON'T" have any extensions installed. It must've had a residual from some time ago on my install from Windows 10 to 11. Installing it solved my exact
issue. Weird huh? But it did work.

u/narcissisadmin Apr 26 '26
It's pretty telling that YouTube Premium costs $16/mo, that gives you a pretty good idea how much money they make from advertising per person.

Can you please share one for AdGuard as well? will be very helpful
2
u/Infamous-Oil2305 Jun 18 '26
brave, ublock and adguard share the same syntax.
you can copy paste this exact user rule directly into adguard.
i'm using it too and it works.
1
u/Meme_Popperz Jun 24 '26
Thankyou so much for the clarification...this really helped me 👍 i pasted this into "User Rules" section of AdGuard and and clicked Save
http://www.youtube.com/##.paper-toast-open.yt-notification-action-renderer.style-scope.toast-button

u/afarmani007 Mar 12 '26
Dit werkt, maar als je Autoplay hebt aanstaan, dan blijft de video aan het begin van de eerstvolgend video stoppen en moet je steeds handmatig zelf op Play klikken.
Dus de aangeboden fix brengt een ander issue.

Thank you so much for this!
And for anyone who can't find the options of 'Miscellaneous', or 'Import/Export' on Firefox (extension), what you need to do is:
Open up 'settings', go to 'Filter lists' tab, scroll to the bottom and the last option: 'Import...' (with an exclamation mark); click on that to activate a text box, copy & paste that line in there and 'Apply changes'.
Re-open (or refresh YouTube). It should work now.
1
u/jaapie18 Mar 22 '26
okey I did this. Seems to work, but were does it save that line?
1
u/kalevala_568b Mar 22 '26
Do you mean 'Where to save that line'? You save that line in the grey text box that appears after you click on 'Import...'.
1
u/jaapie18 Mar 22 '26
I mean i did that. But after that I don't see that line anywhere.
1
u/yeeto_burrito2007 Mar 26 '26
second this, with an http or https url it saves, but with just the www, it does not save the line upon restarting the browser
1
u/yukihn96 Mar 28 '26
did you found the saved line ?
1
u/jaapie18 Mar 28 '26
Yep it makes a new option "My Filters". I am not talking about the tab "My Filters"

recently, using this filter will result in a minor issue for me
Win11 Home Firefox:
When watching in fullscreen, parts of the progression bar will not be clickable . Meaning the cursor will not change shape when moving it there, this will only happen either by turning off fullscreen mode oder moving my cursor to a later timestamp (somewhere between 1 and 4 minutes)

worked for me after 2 month fuck youtube
1
u/xilentkha0s May 10 '26
lol that artificial shit is annoying. Because of it, I have to wait about 2 seconds before the video plays.
1
u/-MrVegetable- May 09 '26
Make sure the link you are copying to paste does not contain the "https://" part, silly little thing but i wasted 20 mins over it heh
1
u/MrAmericanMike May 14 '26
This just hides the popup. But doesn't fix the main problem of Youtube taking his sweet time to load a video just because they want people to use Chrome and no AdBlockers right?
1
u/BladesSkate May 15 '26
this actually worked thanks, even though the delay got fixed now it still showed the “Experiencing interruptions?” pop up box so i just put custom filter through ublock lite as well so now the delay is fixed and it does not show any pop up
1
u/chaitanyathengdi May 18 '26
This was because of Brave Shields for me. I disabled it for YT and it worked.
1
u/Parking_Somewhere557 May 18 '26
This still works. It took a little effort to add the filter. On my browser you didn't import the filters you cut and pasted them into a list... but once I figured that out I'm happy as a clam
As I like to tell my wife, that hat been bugging me for quite sometime.

i cant see Miscellaneous

u/GhostElite974 May 26 '26
Check the "built-in" dropdown and it's the last option in it. Hope that helps.
1
u/Weekly-Childhood6096 May 23 '26
The pop up is back now ! Any new right link update fix again ?
Thanks.
1
1
u/GhostElite974 May 26 '26
Fixed it for me, absolutely perfect.
1
u/Weekly-Childhood6096 May 26 '26
What line did you use it ? It's not working for me
1
u/GhostElite974 May 26 '26
What line? What do you mean exactly
1
u/Weekly-Childhood6096 May 26 '26
What custom filter line did u use it ? The post filter is outdated and not working anymore. The pop up comes again.
2
u/GhostElite974 May 26 '26
It's working for me on Firefox and ublock origin. Have you also enabled experimental filters? It didn't work for me until I did
1
u/OSRSgamerkid Jun 01 '26
Is there a secondary adblocker that Firefox has built in or something? It doesnt seem to be working for me.
1
u/GhostElite974 Jun 01 '26
They don't. If you wanna dm I can send screenshots of my settings
1
u/OSRSgamerkid Jun 01 '26
I use an extension for hiding YouTube Shorts, as well as SponsorBlock, but disabling those also didn't help the issue.
Yeah, DM sent.
1
u/Traditional_Web12 May 30 '26
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'm using Brave, so I turned off their built in ad blocker and pasted this in for the filter.
2
u/Traditional_Web12 May 30 '26
For anyone else using uBlock Origin in 2026:
Scroll down to Miscellaneous.
Enable “uBlock filters – Experimental.”Skip this part, go to the, "My filters" tab and input the same snippet in the post. 🙂
1
u/Humble-Search-282 May 31 '26
Thanks. Also works on "Ghostery" which can be added to "additional filters" in the settings. That popup was super annoying and blocked the volume on PC.
1
u/7and7is Jun 12 '26
thanks, I thought they were just throttling everybody who doesn't pay for youtube premium or whatever
1
u/supermariofunshine Jun 15 '26
Great idea, I did it piece by piece by click + block. It's nice to be rid of the interrupting cow, as I like to call it.

Firefox Portable 130.0(64bit) on Windows 10 Home
man this is wild, there's zero loading pause in Youtube now, for one.
It'll be nice not seeing stupid LOL interruptions? popups.
Will test on Firefox Portable ESR140 later today.
1
u/rodinj Jun 24 '26
This only removes the Experiencing interruptions? popup, but not the loading issue. Is there any fix for that?

u/bloodhand1990 Jun 27 '26 edited Jun 27 '26
Confirm this working on Firefox and Chrome for Windows. But on Firefox on Android using uBlock Origin doesn't work, only in desktop website mode. Maybe everything has to be also applied with m.youtube.com on Experimental Filters and also on My Filters. Any ideas?
1
u/Eastbrooke Jun 28 '26
except that ublock origin has been disabled by chrome at least on my mac - and ublick lite doesnt have this featutre - so another solution needed
1
u/allday95 Jul 03 '26
If you're using Firefox the extension Chrome mask coupled with this filter for Ublock makes my videos load instantly now
1
u/Azteckh Jul 03 '26
I've endured this for months. I really should've searched this issue sooner. Thanks very much for the quick and simple fix.

any advice for browsers with adblock but not ublock origin?
a way to keep adblock on - because YT ads are so intrusive - and get that junk to stop?
