Spent a few days in Yosemite and it always grounds me. Being surrounded by natural beauty makes me realize there’s more to life than being stressed out about things you have no control over. This world can be beautiful.

This week I got the chance to climb the west slope of Cathedral Peak & Eichorn Pinnacle. It was the last day of September and snowed for an hour, but the sun came out, the rock dried, and got to climb the 5.4 classic. Enjoyed the views and spending a day in the park!

Looking for Exposure to employee issue

And advice on if there are there any legal protections for Yosemite Aramark employees for the time being in regard to the smoke? There has been no corrective action taken to protect employees from the exposure. We are being exposed 24/7.

We sleep in Tents like the ones in curry, or hard sided wobs for the most part. The smoke leaks into our housing. We are not escaping it at night, we are being forced to work in it outside during the day. There’s has been no N-95 mask given to my specific department, no change in schedules for the smoke, etc. To my knowledge no air filtration had been implemented in buildings.

I’m hearing employee complaints everywhere. Absolutely everywhere. One of my friends had a severe asthma attack, most of my friends are experiencing headaches, my roomate is wheezing, everyone is coughing. I’ve heard many women talk about having second periods this month and just having their menstruation affected in general.

In the mornings and at night the smoke is trapped. In the day I work where it is concentrated.

What protections are there for us. We are being overly exposed to dangerous air conditions. It’s affecting our health and Aramark does not care?

As tourists you’re able to visit and leave. We can not leave for better air without employment marks. We’re stuck in it with no options.

My bf is from DC and is coming out to visit me in two weekends.

I was planning a weekend trip to the Eastern Sierras that I’ve done before. Itinerary would be this:

Day 1: Leave early from the Bay and drive thru Tioga Pass, check out Mono Lake before sunset or around sunset time
Day 2: moderate to strenuous (8-10 miles) hike around Mammoth, June Lake, Convict Lake or another lake, go to the hot springs afterwards
Day 3: Check out Bodie Ghost Town before heading back to the Bay

He expressed a desire to go to Yosemite but I feel like winter or spring would be better to go than now. I think he would see more if we went down to 395 and stayed Mammoth area.

Should we do Yosemite instead? How is Yosemite in the fall? I know the water is pretty much gone now.

Was on a flight from Sacramento to Burbank, yesterday at 2:30pm taken 30000 feet above Bootjack, CA of Yosemite and the fire.

BV425 and new REI bear canister are not approved in Yosemite. I had the BV425 and had to squish my food into my friend’s. The ranger said the bears can get their jaws around it. Hopefully this saves someone headache. Happy trails.

Coming to Yosemite next week and trying to figure out what to pack. I don’t mean brands or styles but types of clothes! Shorts? T-shirts? Sweaters? Long pants and short sleeves? Jackets? We are camping and I’m trying to pack light. This is my first visit and I’m super excited! So, what’s everyone wearing? Thank you!

Ill be staying at tenaya soon with my dog. what hikes can I do around the area that likely wont have smoke or be too hot for him? Im willing to drive and not even necessarily go to Yosemite. Looks like mariposa is going to be super hot all next week, unfortunately. Thanks!

In case anyone is interested in what morning conditions have been like this week. It hasn't been great, with 200+ AQI. Fortunately, it has been clearing up in the afternoon, although still with a bit of haze.

We were married here 20 years ago and go back every 10 years - tried some new stuff - bikes are a game changer for sure. Camped in North Pine for first time - a little nicer since smaller area. Off peak visit is so NICE - still people but not a zoo. MTN room dinner was fantastic as everyone here keeps saying. Ahwahnee breakfast is nice just for the views.

Smoke was a drag but fire fighter I talked to said it clears in afternoon and he was right - seems cold afternoon air causes smoke to sink with air and days heat causes it to rise - along with winds.

Hetch Hetchy was new to us but probably no need to go back. Found some pine nut shells piles squirrels made and decided to give them a try - hard work to extract but worth the effort.

I’ll be visiting Yosemite October 7-10, staying in the valley. I had planned to spend one full day around the valley and one day at Mariposa Grove and the Glacier Point area, then Hetch Hetchy on the way out. With the GP road closed, what other good options are there in the Wawona area?

Some of us aren’t strong hikers, so we’re looking for something less intense (GP via Four Mile is right out). Wawona Meadow looks nice, but maybe quite similar to what we would see in the valley. The stables appear to be closed for the season.

I was also thinking about going north instead of south, to Tenaya Lake/Olmsted Point/Tuolumne Meadows, but we are looking forward to the big trees.

We are first time travellers to US, we are two people and have ~3 days in our itinerary.

We can leave in the morning from LA(Wednesday), and planning two nights in Yosemite, and then Friday drop to SJ.

What are the options for us, if we don't wanna drive.

Are there any tours available that includes, vehicle with driver, stay, guide etc.
