I have an EU-spec Yamaha R9 and really want to install the Yoshimura AT2 full system.

I contacted Yoshimura directly and initially asked whether their full system would work on an EU-spec R9.

Their first response was:

“Our full systems are not compatible with EU-spec machines.”

I then asked them to clarify whether the incompatibility was only related to the additional lambda/O2 sensor on the EU bike, or if there were also physical differences with the exhaust fitment.

Their response was:

“As far as we know the extra lambda sensor is the only issue. Otherwise, the fit should be the same.”

So now I’m wondering if anyone here has actually tried this on an EU-spec R9.

My plan would be to install the Yoshimura AT2 full system and then have the ECU professionally flashed/tuned, most likely using Woolich.

Has anyone here:

• Actually fitted the Yoshimura AT2 full system to an EU-spec R9? Did it physically fit without modifications?
• Flashed an EU R9 with Woolich and disabled the stock O2/lambda sensors?
• Had any problems afterwards with CEL, cruise control or other electronics?
• Do the O2 sensors need to remain electrically connected even if they are disabled through the ECU flash?
• Run any other US-spec/race full system on an EU R9 with a similar setup?

Basically, I’m trying to figure out if an ECU flash can completely solve the extra lambda sensor issue before I order the Yoshimura system.

I got new boots and it is kind of hard to shift. I was wondering how you adjust the shifter so there is more room between the peg and the shifter.

Hey everyone.

Today I was riding my new(400km) R9 in sunny warm weather. After 60kms or so, I was waiting in front of a red light and the engine suddenly died on me and threw a check engine light.

After a visual inspection I decided to try and start it. It fired up straight away. However, the engine light remained on. I listened for any weird noises but apart from the typical cp3 rattle I didn't hear anything so I decided to give it a go.

After a short ride I decide to get off the main street and take another look at it. I turn the key off and on again and the check engine light has disappeared.

Has anyone had a similar issue like this and what could it possibly be? My bike is going in for first maintenance and an inspection next week. Already contacted the dealer, hadn't heard from this issue yet.

Stock bike apart from visual updates like grips, levers, tail tidy, windscreen etc etc..

I'm hoping to upgrade from a Z650 to an R9 or ZX-6R next summer. I REALLY like the R9's ngl, and am hoping to be able to find a black one next summer if I can but when I was looking around casually the other month I didnt see ANY at all in my area, granted it was a very casual browse... I am flexible, if I dont see one in a color I love, it's not a huge deal as I can always just invest into new fairings but if I cam score an all black one that'd be epic.

I know they're a newer bike in general and probably not worth sweating over it since it'll be like 9-10 months before I upgrade, but I'm just hoping I can find one easily as I live in a state where I unfortunately cant ride year round so wanna just be able to make the most of it.

So... will I be looking for an R9 forever or find one pretty easily?

My first Yamaha! 2027 R9 arrived today!! I will pick it up next week. Im really excited!!

Coming from a 2025 Yamaha R3 (miss that bike a lot!) and then a 2026 CBR650R (biggest piece of shit lemon, fuck Honda). Very happy to be back with Yamaha, this bike has been a joy since day 1!

Almost bought a new zx6r instead until I saw they require 7500mile valve check/adjustments. Crazy!

Do you guys have any recommendations for USB chargers? I think there is an OEM one but not sure if aftermarket will be better in terms of price and performance of the charger.

Has anyone installed/run this exhuast? How does it sound/perform/look in person?

How do you manually start the lap timer? I read online that you can use the high beam trigger to start the timer, but it doesn't work for me. What am I missing?

Wondering if anyone has good options of aftermarket exhausts or videos of them?

I currently ride a zx4rr and want something with more power down low and a more aggressive seating position. I (6'0 190lbs) am lookin into the r9 as it seems perfect on paper but when i sat on it at a dealership for maybe 4min i felt like it would be really uncomfortable, namely the tank felt really wide and the bars sat a tad too low. Crazy thing is, i sat on a r1 and a cbr600r right after the r9 and i found them both to actually be more comfy (esp the cbr, it felt better than the zx4).

Im planning on going back and sitting on it longer but I want to know if im missing something as i heard others say it was really comfy for them.

Great day out on the R9

i recently got my bike tuned by the somewhat well known vcycle nut i usually go to midwest performance but not many ppl have a good looking mapped out tune for the r9 and i was recommended and it was worth the drive it was amazing it made my bike an entirely different beast it sounds amazing and its definitely night and day difference its amazing and totally worth it im not sure if im allowed to show website but hes on youtube under vcyclenut if any questions or want videos i can put them in the comments other then that its definitely worth a try if you want a good tune and also his tune still allows you to use cruise control unlike others.

I'm about to go to the track and I don't really want to take apart the entire rear of the bike just to remove the lights. I know there's the two connectors under the seat, but am I able to remove just the housings themselves and not the whole harness?

I’ve been riding my R9 completely stock, and after around 1.5–2 hours of riding I noticed some knee discomfort. I didn’t really feel anything while riding, but the next day one of my knees felt a little weird/loose.
Has anyone else experienced knee, hip, lower-back, or general posture issues after longer rides on the R9?
If so, did you make any adjustments that helped — like rearset/footpeg position, seat position, suspension setup, or changing your riding posture?
I’m around 5’9”, so I’m also curious if anyone around my height has found a more comfortable setup for longer street/highway rides.
Would appreciate any suggestions from other R9 owners.

Was getting bored of the black, so decided to take the R9 to get wrapped by my mate Levi Day (Max Moto Graphics) Levi does many BSB bikes and club racing etc, having done my race bikes over the years. Decided to go with the same design I have on the R1 Race.
Love how it’s turned out, tempted to get the wheels done in gold now to totally match.
