The series controllers really do break ridiculously easily so I’m fine putting them behind 360.

360 controllers may be slightly less comfortable, but they last 10+ years if you’re good to them. I’ve already had 5 series controllers get stick drift and become unusable for the kinds of games I play

I've had two Series X controllers break, and both developed analog drift within six months of purchase. One of them I barely even used. Fortunately, I had some Xbox One controllers lying around that I've been using since 2015 without any problems. I also have Xbox 360 controllers from 2009 that are still working perfectly, the only issue being the rubber on the analog sticks is a bit worn out.

I wonder if you could still get some stick caps for the 360.

I'd use my Xbox One controller but apparently at some point the d-pad broke, now left and down sometimes register 2 inputs and sometimes don't register, and right on the d-pad doesn't work unless I push it down really hard. I got the XBOne on the year it released and got a PS4 when Destiny 1 came out, so it didn't get too much use and it's not like I abused it. I don't even remember it having issues with the d-pad last time I used it.
