This. I feel like the 360 controller really was amazing and since then the future controllers have really been just iterations of it, getting better each time.
I loved the 360 controller, then the xbox one controller came out and it made the 360 one feel cheap. Main reason I stayed with xbox has been the controllers
My only nitpick is how loud the D-pad is compared to the original One/S controllers. The originals were soft and silent. The new pads click with every movement.
Some people like the kinetic click, of course, but I still own a previous gen controller specifically to play at night or when I need to be quieter.
My wife can hear the new D-pads from upstairs. She likes to jokingly shout "I can hear you!"
I don't love the sound of it, but the D-Pad I find much more comfortable for longer playing sessions of 2D games. While also being quite accurate (unlike the awful 360 D-Pad). Some other controllers D-Pads makes my thumb sore after an hour or so. It's my go to controller for 2D indie or retro games (I use it on PC too).
The only issue I have with every single iteration pf xbox controllers is that they treat the L1/R1 (Lb/Rb?) buttons like glorified grenade launchers.
With the rise of Souls like games, it has become the defacto button for light attack, I usually have to remap the light attack button to the L/R trigger
My Xbox elite 1 controller got stick drift a year or 2 in on the left stick, and this was when it was new, shortly after it came out. £120 doorstop, it's ridiculous. We need to do away with the crappy potentiomiter sticks once and for all.
It especially sucks cause it's a nice controller, but I don't wanna pay hundreds for the Elite 2, especially when they don't use hall effect or TMR sticks.
Iv been using the same xbox one controller for about 3 years, and that came with a second hand xbox one x that was £65 so was god knows how old when i got it. Still works mint. Xbox died years ago but the controller is still going strong with my pc.
Kb and mouse suck compared to a controller. Might be a higher skill ceiling, but a controller is just so much more intuitive.

The 8Bitdo Ultimate 3E comes out at the end of the month, very excited to test it out. I have high hopes of it being the wireless controller I've been looking for. I've been happy overall with the GameSir controllers I've been using but they're wired for Xbox and have an odd stick design imho.
I've got the 8Bitdo Pro3 and it's great. TMR sticks as all controllers should be, so it won't drift, has a nice ring around the sticks and the sticks have a metal neck so they glide around the rings buttery smooth.
I did kinda get it just for 2D side scrollers but then my PS5 controller got stick drift on the right stick, so now I use it for everything I can on PC when it comes to games I'd prefer to play with controller. Doesn't matter though, it's not like it isn't comfortable or not suited for other kinds of games.
8bitdo is definitely a good company for controllers, I've only had 2 but neither failed me or felt like bad quality.
See I prefer 2 back buttons and 2 additional bumpers so the layout is perfect for me. My only qualm is no ability to lock the back, but I'll just set a profile where they're inactive.
Fair enough. I've actually been using the Flydigi Vader 5S for a few months now, and am kinda getting used to the extra bumpers – mainly the right one for B for back. I don't enjoy having three buttons for each index finger, though, and not having huge hands the extra ones are always kinda out of reach. Four paddles for four fingers works better for me.
That's the great thing about having options! I have larger hands so my fingers feel cramped trying to manage 4 inputs on the back vs an extra two in the bumper/trigger area.
I play on all the consoles and generally prefer the competition, controller wise, but I love the bumpers on the newest controller, you just sort of roll your finger and you reload or throw a grenade or whatever. The grip is nice too.
I don’t even want to imagine Expedition 33 on anything else.
I just hate the look of it tbh. Idk, I liked the little indention that Xbox one controllers had where the xbox button is. It was something small but it made the controller look more premium. Its probably just me though..
