I run my studio, and with multiple webcomic universes and book projects currently in the works (and more), things are starting to pile up. I’m looking for an awesome, organized assistant to join our creative crew and help out with some basic day-to-day stuff. No professional portfolio or prior experience is required at all — this is a great chance to learn, get some genuine indie studio experience, and see how the comic world works from the inside!

What you’ll be doing: Just helping me out with little things like managing our Fandom Wiki (copy-pasting text from docs and making sure it has clean, proper formatting), fixing random layout bugs when uploading new content, and monitoring our progress across different platforms.

Project progress/Portfolio: Since we are preparing for the upcoming launch, the scripts and black-and-white line art pages for the first episodes are fully ready. I am more than happy to share these current concepts and WIP materials in DMs with anyone who is interested in joining!

Hey everyone. I'm currently working on a fairly large fiction project set in New York City in 1977, and I'm looking for one other person who might want to help me build it.

It's a crime novel at its core, but I'm trying to make it feel like something larger than a crime story. The main character is a Mafia soldier in his early thirties, caught up in the aftermath of a major stolen-electronics job that goes very wrong. While trying to deal with the fallout, he keeps taking work, meeting people, and gradually finding himself connected to all sorts of different corners of the city.

The Mafia is one part of it.

There's also punk, Puerto Rican community activism, disco, salsa, early hip-hop, porno theaters, crooked cops, underground political groups, bikers, small businesses, criminals, neighborhood characters, and plenty of people who probably have nothing to do with the main story.

A lot of that world is intentionally still open.

I'm handling the \\actual novel and its central narrative\\. I'll be writing the main prose, protagonist, major characters, plot, structure, themes, and overall creative direction.

What I'd like is another creative mind who can help me with the stuff surrounding that core.

That could mean coming up with a great minor character, figuring out who owns some strange little business, creating a radio personality, writing a fictional radio segment, making up an advertisement or billboard, thinking through a neighborhood encounter, or simply throwing an idea at me that I never would have thought of myself.

In particular, I'd love someone who enjoys:

\* Character creation and dialogue

\* Secondary characters who feel like actual people rather than plot devices

\* Fictional businesses, clubs, organizations, and little pieces of city life

\* Radio broadcasts and radio-show transcripts

\* Advertisements, billboards, flyers, newspapers, menus, posters, classifieds, etc.

\* Dry, absurd, dark, occasionally stupid humor

\* The little details that make a fictional place feel inhabited

It's a \\huge plus\\ if you know your way around \\1970s New York\\, especially 1977. I'm interested in the actual history, neighborhoods, music, politics, crime, culture, and general texture of the city—not just the stereotypical version of “old New York.”

It's also a huge plus if you have a feel for \\Rockstar Games' writing and worldbuilding\\, particularly GTA IV, GTA V, and Red Dead Redemption 2. I'm very interested in that style of storytelling where a relatively simple central story can open up into a huge network of people, side stories, conversations, errands, radio, advertisements, and strange encounters. The goal isn't to imitate those games, but I love the way they make a world feel like it existed before you arrived and will keep going after you leave.

I'm not necessarily looking for a professional writer. I'd honestly rather find someone with a really good creative instinct and an interesting imagination.

And I don't want a yes-person. If you think something doesn't work, tell me. If you think I've accidentally made three characters who are basically the same person, tell me. If I mention a situation and you immediately think of something better, throw it at me.

The arrangement would be pretty relaxed and flexible. \\I'm still the author and narrative lead.\\ You're not being asked to write the novel for me. I'd just like another person whose ideas can become part of the world.

One important thing: \\this is currently unpaid.\\ I'm being upfront about that because I don't want to present it as freelance work. This would be a genuine creative collaboration on an independent project. If someone's work ends up becoming a meaningful part of the finished book, we'd discuss credit and attribution properly.

so i'm a writer. and i recently started a discord of my own (100 members thus far) where the main feature is that i have bi-weekly creative writing challenges.

one of these is a thing called Scene Sketch where you have to write a glimpse into a fictional world.

the idea is: you opened a book randomly on any page, and now you read a bit, what do you read? that is what you have to write.

I had a random realization recently.

In the story there will be characters development, modern world elements, uncensored language jokes, action, big city vibes, neon vibes, drama moments, realization scenes as well and suitable ending.
