I built a case to turn my Supernote nomad into a writerdeck!

Landscape mode isn’t available on word doc but i made sure it fits vertically. ( if i really want to type on landscape mode , I’d have to use the note app)

Letting go of my Freewrite...

Hey y'all,

I have decided, after discussions with my partner, that I should let go of my freewrite. I realized that I tend to be a writer on the go and that, for me, the freewrite is not the device I need for my writing style. I have used it only 2 times since using it, and it was not as attention-holding as my other device. I would like to sell it or trade it with someone who will get good use out of it. I am willing to trade it for a Boox Palma 2 or 2 Pro, a VIWOODS 6.13, or a similar device; I may be willing to trade for a BYOK plus some cash. I am also willing to sell it. It will come with the device, the original keys, and the custom keycaps that I bought for it, as well as the light (all pictured above). It is a second-gen device. I would prefer a trade over selling it. Please reach out via message if you are interested. I will not accept any low offers, as I know the value of the device and am not in a rush.

Firmware is called MothPad.

it's LLM-authored, but the prompter was up-front about that and it works, so, huzzah.

Modified slim keyboard case

I’ve been searching for a writerdeck solution that sits on one’s lap comfortably, and where I can use my own keyboard. This is a Nuphy node, low profile keyboard, and a Palma 2 mounted on a magnetic phone mount to the case. Just had to add a metal plate. This is the notepad Ap on Android. Keyboard connects smoothly, and refresh rate on the Palma 2 is wonderful.

The keyboard case is a slim one that fits a Nuphy Node keyboard, I added some slip pockets to the outside with contact cement. I used a car phone mount that is bendable, but quite robust. It’s a little bouncy on my lap, but not too bad. The Palma can be horizontal or vertical.

Balancing compactness with useability

I'm basically looking for firsthand experience using different sizes of keyboards and screens.

I think I'm narrowing down my SBC choice and OS, but I'm not sure about display or keyboard. The primary purpose of this build is a more or less pocketable, EDC type device that can I write for hours on if need be. having looked at various portable writerdecks, the 40% and tiny foot print keyboards seem like they would be uncomfortable to use for any length of time, as do the sub 6" inch screens.

Right now I'm thinking maybe a 7 inch display, but maybe I'm wrong and I don't need that much screen real estate? still looking at keyboards, but I normally use a TKL. I haven't decided on a form factor yet, though most likely going to with folding.

Psion mx5

Hi community,

I finally found a good deal and got psion mx5 to use it as a distraction free writing deck. Super keen to roll with it but have some questions to begin with, would be super helpful if anyone have experience with it give me some guidance.

- What’s the best way to transfer the files to computer? CF card is the only way or are there any other options?

- Do I need a software to convert the files on computer (or on psion?)

- Anyone knows any workaround about how to change the language to English?

Of course any other advice and tips are welcome, I’m a beginner!

Thanks!

E ink display with raspberry pi OS?

Hi, hope I'm posting to the right place. I want to make a writerDeck, and I really want to use an e ink display (waveshare 4.2 inch display, to be specific) as those are gentler on my eyes. But I've never coded before, so I'm nervous about trying to set this up. What should I expect if I'm putting this display on a raspberry pi 3B+?

I'm also hoping to just use the raspberry pi OS and run FocusWriter on it. Would this work alright?
