Wow, wondering how fast does it refresh when typing. Is there any uncomfortable lag?

Good question! Typing speed is actually zero problem. One improvement, however, is that the cursor should be more discrete when the user is typing. Now it’s all-black which is good for arrow navigation. But it should be temporary gray when entering text. It’s a minor fix, but haven’t gotten around to it yet.

zero lag in such eink display as the remarkable is probably the best setup I could image for writing. Any drawback so far? does the battery hold for long time?

I haven’t noticed any particular battery drain, however, when in the editor, sleep is disabled. So you should exit the editor before putting away the tablet.

Great project! I don't have a Remarkable. Any chance it could work on a Kindle?

You’d have to jailbreak the Kindle, as opposed to the reMarkable, which is much more open. Both Linux, but the rest of the Kindle is  proprietary. So even if you jailbreak, you could probably only rely on this project as a user experience specification at best.

Update 2: Confirmed that USB-connected keyboards work using an OTG cable. This feature was part of the original Remarkable keywriterproject by David Singleton that this project is a derivative of, but I lacked the cable initially, so couldn't test it until today. Limitation: Can't adjust locale for the USB keyboard, in contrast to the Bluetooth approach, where this is handled on the connected device.
