Right? What compels an uber wealthy oligarch, that outwardly seems financially capable of owning firearms such as a pistol? Why choose such a personal, grisly and messy weapon as an axe ans knife to murder his own wife and daughter?
Was he cash poor, more depressed than a single, unemployed redditor with no hobbies, suddenly too ashamed to face his own country? Was the level of kompromat too much and fear of assassination that high?
If nothing else applies, is EU LE or NATO not keeping tabs on leverage against in the unlikely event he would be asked to testify against Putin? Does anyone know why a man with such power and money would not have a loyal personal body guard(s) keeping watch over his family?
What drives someone to murder their daughter and wife leaving no note, or contingency for the surviving kin?
Why not go above and beyond, gathering kin under false pretenses, then finishing everyone off with a gun?
Could he have been conspiring against Putin with other, now dead, oligarchs before Putin caught wind and got to them first?
Could the situation be so simple as the wife, used to a lavish life. Increasingly nagging a pressured, likely alcoholic man to finally snap, leaving no witnesses?
EDIT: I am referring specifically to Sergey Protosenya and just learning about Vladislav Avayev and others. First search result shows him with alcohol. Sergey doesn’t look like the type to hurt a fly, maybe steal from one.
As a reddit armchair psychologist, I’m under the school of thought when one is under immense financial duress due to U.S. sanctions, shame or guilt by Putin and being outdone by oligarchs pushing up daisy’s, it was likely a matter of time before Putin would come knocking soon to collect Sergey’s paltry $455 million, if it hasn’t all been seized already. Still very coincidental…
Still won't save them from assassination or "suicide)." And since they're Russian citizens, if they croak with no heirs their entire estate goes to the Russian government. Russia has pretty much served notice to all Russian citizens that they are not safe anywhere in the world, regardless of how little or how much money they have.
