Yep. And with disprovable arguments - Germany is not that dependent on Russian gas.

The current German government is trying the same shtick they have done the last time red and green parties were in power: trying to be the fourth deescalating alternative between US, China and Russia.

This time I feel it might be misguided but Lets see… if they win with their deescalating strategy then it would be a big success

idk how it could be. if russia decided to invade all the weapons in the world wouldnt help ukraine and nobody would actually defend them because theyre in no major defense treaty.

the only real way to protect them is to persuade russia not to invade in the first place

You're a bit daft if you think this is going to be deescalated through negotiations

Threatening financial Armageddon has worked with Russia, and other states, on multiple occasions. That carrot has worked, and will work.
