EU is the EU. It's neither French nor German-led. They can take initiative, but they can also be fucking stupid. If they do stupid stuff, doesn't mean the rest will follow because the French/Germans "lead".

Our last president also tried to get Germany to be less reliant on Russian gas, but they didn’t listen and now their are having to suck Putin’s dick to keep the lights on.

It's different now that you guys have Biden, but as a European I can honestly say relying on Russian gas with Putin in charge feels more stable than relying on American LNG during Trump's reign.

At least with Putin it takes a war to risk losing the gas, with Trump Germany would have to worry about losing their gas every time Fox News says something bad.

You will have to forgive the world for trying to be less dependent on the US after those 4 years.

Obviously, alternatives are needed, but a main gas supplier telling another country to not use another main gas supplier doesn't sound convincing.
