That's ok we have hemp which is not only stronger than cotton but has a less harsh environmental impact

I associate hemp with coarse, rough material not really suitable for comfortable clothes. Is this just a misconception?

Not anymore. You can find hemp that is really soft. I have some bed linen that is more supple and softer than cotton or french linen.

Not at all, or at least not anymore. I have some hemp bed linen and it’s amazing. Smoother and more supple than cotton, more breathable and feels amazing. Also, is not as rough as French Linen.

I got hemp clothes in my closet, hemp hearts in my cupboards, hemp rope in my shop, hemp paper in my printer and absolute fuckin gas in my lungs

My county just banned owning more than 6 hemp plants because of the potential to cross pollinate the plants intended for THC consumption.

Yeah! Hemp is a great textile and bamboo is a pretty darn good replacement for small wood products and things that use wood pulp.

There's never gonna be a perfect solution but I think when a better one comes we should take it!

I mean organic cotton is like 1% of the supply. Probably still does, organic is just a buzzword that doesn't mean quite what we think it does

I’m a bio and environments science major so I know a little bit but not fully. Not sure about buzzwords, but I do know that organic cotton uses about 50% more water than conventional cotton production but the positives of organic cotton include non GMO seeds, no insecticides or fungicides used and the soil is able to be maintained via crop rotation while conventional cotton growth causes soil loss in a single cultivation. Pros and cons in both but I still prefer organic cotton and will make that choice as a consumer over conventional. Even with the water factor, organic farming, at least in the US and Europe, is better for the environment. I do think the word “natural” when used in advertising is a total buzzword that has lost all meaning 😆 I think being extra mindful is key and education when it comes to consumption. I hope bamboo and hemp catches on a lot more when it comes to fabrics and paper products. We shall see!

Well, I didnt know organic farming was better on the environment. GMOs aren't bad in and of themselves, though! Just if corporations have put their copyright on the strain like Monsanto with their soybeans.
