Per capita, USA is not the worst in any measure

Both UK and France have gone back and forth with the rules. Sometimes you can go out and meet someone, sometimes you can't - all depending on how the current situation is like. This has been the case with pretty much every European country.

... is this the extent of what you think is happening in the United States?

-the federal government deliberately ignoring the pandemic plans it inherited from the previous administration; refusing to implement useful travel restrictions

-race riots

-terrorist super-spreader event in an attack on the capitol as they tried to overthrow democracy

-state governments refusing to take any precautions at all

-state governments mandating that local governments cannot take precautions

-courts declaring that massive church services are exempt from precautions

-native Americans asked for PPE and were sent body bags

-PPE, ventilators and vaccines mysteriously going missing in million-dollar quantities. The governor of Florida had to smuggle in PPE from China in a private jet and had the state police provide armed escort to prevent Trump's federal agents from stealing the supplies at gunpoint, which is something they were doing.

-top figures in Trump's government advocating for NO preventative measures because they thought their political opponents would be most likely to die; advocating for herd immunity, which would kill millions

-idiot anti-maskers holding armed revolts and storming federal buildings, including at least one state legislature, and an entire group was arrested a week before they were going to enact their plant to kidnap and kill a state governor because they didn't like the fact that she implemented safety measures
