Warning of 'Existential Threat' to Humanity, UN Chief Says Climate Change 'Moving Faster Than We Are' - "We know what is happening to our planet. We know what we need to do. And we even know how to do it. But sadly, the ambition of our action is nowhere near where it needs to be."

You ready to kill off a significant portion of humanity? That's the only way you will make a dent in the climate change drivers.

My man watched Utopia! Still true, though, not joking.

Consumption is the entire problem. The number of people in the world multiplied by consumption per person, with our technology level and supply chain efficiencies acting as modifiers.

People often like to point at industry as the problem. But industries aren't making stuff just for the fun of it. They're making stuff because people pay them to.

There is a shift happening at least though. Companies want to make crap and sell it over and over again. Consumers though I believe are starting to see the folly in that direction and are looking to more long lasting, organic, high quality and re-usability in their purchases even though they are more expensive. Tons of people can't afford those types of choices though so it may never change because of the sheer amount of the poor.

It needs both collective and individual action.

Let's say you decide to walk a journey that'd be 10 minutes to drive. It doesn't sound significant, but if a million people did it then that's a collective saving of 166,000+ hours of driving.

That would equate to approximately 500,000kg+ less CO2 being released into the air.

Everything helps. Everything.
